They are created because the sim doesn't know how to render palm trees or tall eucalyptus trees, especially here in Southern California. I know what you are seeing. Unfortunately, the resolution is not sufficient in locations with 3D photogrammetry to render a crisp image when you are up close. Go to Google Earth or Bing 3D maps and zoom in as close as you can, and you will see the images become distorted, and trees are more a blob than a tree. It is a bandwidth-saving sacrifice. The best trees you see in the simulator are those generated by AI. You are on the right track and the right video. You only need a tip, if you don't mind. All 3d photogrammetry is treated the same in the simulator. In 3D areas, the programming does not see the difference between a palm tree and a building. You may be already figuring out a solution while reading this. You can remove the trees with an exclusion polygon and select exclude all buildings. Southern CA is dense, so you need to be careful with the polygon placement, so you don't exclude buildings you want to keep. It will be tedious work, but you can do it. I have palm trees from payware or standard Asobo scenery in the objects library. If you do, too, you can replace the trees you remove with a palm tree object. Hello Bredd. Thanks for watching. I was confused at first because building a polygon is a snap. However, once I read the entire post, it makes sense. Yes. What you have to do is search through the scenery library and look for an approximation. Of course, you will not get an exact match. In this video where I typed "buildings" in the Objects window search bar; that is what you should do. There are many buildings in the library so it is a search process by trying every building until you find a close match. Thanks for the great video. I tried it out & followed along on a small, relatively unimportant airport :) in case I screwed something up. Worked great, and a tiny grass strip near me now has a small paved parking area and a courtesy van, as well as a mystery luggage container. However... when I try to edit any other airport now, the elevation seems to get messed up upon loading, and as I scroll around a bit, the ground-level-polygons (aprons, runways) disappear under the terrain, leaving only satellite imagery visible. Further, I seem to only have -some- objects available. When I did the first airstrip, each category was full of stuff. Now, most are completely empty. Any ideas what might be causing this? Thanks again.
Thanks. Here is a tip, you can't screw things up. All of your work is in the scenery folder you are working and a simple delete puts everything back to normal. So, don't worry about messing up. Let me unpack your questions now. When working in a complicated airport, sometimes in Developer Mode, airport components vanish as you zoon around with the camera and leave only the satellite images. I am not sure why this happens. Without more information, I assume it is limitations in the SDK but that is a total assumption on my part. it can't be a memory issue on my end because I have a lot of ram compared to most. As for the objects, that has me perplexed because I have only seen that issue when I had nothing selected on the right pane in the objects window. Make sure you tick "all" and you should see all of the objects. I hope that answers your question as that is the only reason I know the objects window will be empty. The problem you mentioned about the scenery vanishing happens to me also. I work around it as best I can.
@@patriotsix5880 Got it - thanks again. Hit the "All" selector & have my objects back. However, unlike when I followed your tutorial, for some reason, the objects I'm adding now don't show up in FS (just trying to add a few cars and things to a different airport) but the scenery is found in the Content Manager.... any likely culprits?
@@androidfarmer8863 Hmmm if the package that holds the objects you need shows up in the content manager they should appear in the objects search. That is perplexing. It is likely something very simple. if you know the name of the package the items are located in you can look at the packages loaded in on the right side of the objects window right below the "all" selection. You can even select that specific package if you want and see the items in the package. If the package is not in the objects window, then it is not loaded. I have never seen this before. There are standard items as part of the normal Asobo scenery and they all normally appear in the objects window. You can limit what you see if you enter any query in the search bars on the objects window. If there is no query going on and "all" is ticked, everything should show up that is loaded. If the problem persists, there are other options we can try. We can get as granular as needed. Let me know if we need to go to the next level. Good luck, friend.
@@patriotsix5880 OH! They show up properly in the editor; I make the package, put it in the Community folder, restart the sim, but the airport is just as before. hmm....
@@androidfarmer8863 Sorry. I misunderstood the problem. To be clear, you save the scenery, then build the package, and then put the package in the community folder. Right? @@ilynx2008 I am not totally sure why it isn't working, but there are a couple of things you should know first. The tool will only work if areal 3D photogrammetry exists. 3D is not available all over the world and is most prominent in the US. A simple test is to use Google Earth to look at the area you want in 3D. Zoom in as close as you can. Are the buildings really 3D photogrammetry or flat 2D picture? This part you will not like but I have to tell you straight. Even if you have 3D photogrammetry at the airport, you will be completely dissatisfied with the result. The resolution is not good enough for an airport. In fact, it will look horrible. Everything present at the time the 3D areal images are captured will be included i nthe tiles. That goes for aircraft on the runway, gates, and parking. But they will look like they are melting due to the low resolution. The best way to improve an airport is with scenery models in the scenery library. It will not be exact but close enough. We can fix the tool to work for you. That I am 100% certain of but the tool will not help your airport. The good news is that it is not difficult to dress up an airport. I have made many videos on adding scenery and they all work the same. Here is one that is specific to airports. It is a little old but the methods still work. ruclips.net/video/yAZWtJcVN8M/видео.html

Hello Patriot. I have created a project to edit an existing airport scenery and would like to remove some buildings of the scenery. I used the polygons tool and exclude buildings otion but they cannot be deleted... I don't know why!!! Any idea?
Hello and thanks for watching. There are a few variables we have to talk about. If this is a standard Asobo airport, you can remove scenery objects including buildings. Assets that are tied to the airport package like taxiways, runways, and maybe even the control tower cannot be removed with a polygon. To make those changes, you need to edit the airport. If it is a payware airport, you can have trouble removing items. I have the payware KATL and oddly both the Asobo tower and the Payware tower are side by side. I wasn't able to get the payware creator interested so I attempted to remove the Asobo tower with a polygon and was unsuccessful. What airport are you working on and what are you trying to remove? I can run a test and see what happens.
@@patriotsix5880 Hello. This a payware scenery converted from P3D and provided by a friend. I am afraid that all objects are in a block... I am unable to retrieve the start points on the runway, even the taxiways that I can not edit... I have tried the Exclusion rectangle and then, all objects have disappeared, even with a small rectangle :(. I think that I will resign. I am currently attempting to add some parking point to start the flights but I have plenty of errors (point not linked to main graph) that I am unable to resolve :( And of course, I cannot save the work done because of the errors. I spent already a couple of days and I feel running in a one-way street 🤣
@@braudoux I understand. Yes, when dealing with taxiways and start points you have to take a totally different approach to the project. All navigation-controlled items are part of the airport package. In addition, you have to deal with items disappearing while in the Developer Camera. I am not sure why that happens. I assume it is a limitation in the SDK. if you want to give it a try, will link two videos. The reason I am linking two is that in one I edited an existing airport but I did not change the taxiways. In the second video, I build taxiways from scratch at a fictional airport but the process is the same. Edit and existing airport: ruclips.net/video/UlWiAbhersg/видео.html Building taxiways: ruclips.net/video/kYBnZlAyF8s/видео.html Taxiway works starts here: 19:20 Add Taxiways It is time-consuming so set a lot of time aside. It can be done but it is not an easy fix like using polygons to remove items. I am sure I mention this in the video but all taxiways have to be linked and contiguous to get by the errors.
I don't undertand this. How do I do exclusion rectangle? I did it but it doesnt save. I open it and the exclusion rectangles are gone. Why can't I just edit the scenery and remove the objects I don't like?
I don't know why the exclusion rectangle is not working. It is a well-known and used tool within the community. I need help to answer through chat because I can't see what you see. You would need access to the entire scenery folder to edit scenery that you did not build. If this is payware that you added to the community folder, all you have is the package. The same applies to payware you buy through the store that goes into the official folder. I have reached the limit of my help through RUclips chat. If you have a Facebook account, you can join my Facebook group to get help from me or others in the community. Having the ability to upload images is very helpful. @@patriotsix5880 I do not use facebook. I made a project, set down an exclusion rectangle, and saw the object disappear (in the editor) then saved and compiled the project, got a folder and package. Put it where my other packages are, but the exclusion rectangle doesn't vanish the object there.

should i use different folder for different airport? i only use it for removing vegetation
Yes. To edit an airport, you must start an airport folder instead of a scenery folder. I have videos that walk through the process of editing an existing airport. ruclips.net/video/G3-k_8fk04I/видео.html

@@patriotsix5880 thanks
Right? If you follow all of the aforementioned steps and still the added objects are not there, please, give me the ICAO of the airport you are working so I can look for myself. Do you have any payware or freeware at this same airport or is it stock Asobo airport?
My airport has a water landing trough next to the runway. Can I do that with these tools ya think?
Thank you for watching. Okay, I'd like to ensure you and I are on the same page. Does the airport have standard runways and an additional water runway? If that is true, yes, it can be done. It is probably better if somebody with experience tries it, but it can be done in SDK. Feel free to let me know if you need help.
@@patriotsix5880 Yes, both runways parallel. The Airport is 1C9 (Frazier Lake). Thanks for the reply mate, thanks! I wont bother asking for help at this point. Ill give it a go. Im slowly trying to come to grips with even the most basic things. Im sure I have a lot more videos to watch before then, lol.

@@patriotsix5880 Thank you once more...I got it! Now I´m trying your tut video "Bring 3D photo..." I´m spending hour and getting somewhat frustrated with the complexity and NOT getting it right! as far as I went was removing thes and that beacon tower, buy I want my airport (SBBH,in Brazil) to be in 3D! thank you very much once more...any idea why it isnt working?
@@patriotsix5880 Hi there sir,You are absolutely right! I´ve tried and got a 3D scenery following your tut video,BUT the hangars and objects apperaed like melting, smeared, zombieland like! But then again thankyou very much!
I am currently attempting to add some parking point to start the flights but I have plenty of errors (point not linked to main graph) that I am unable to resolve :(
And of course, I cannot save the work done because of the errors.
Good luck. facebook.com/groups/788136852324508
@@patriotsix5880 I do not use facebook. I made a project, set down an exclusion rectangle, and saw the object disappear (in the editor) then saved and compiled the project, got a folder and package. Put it where my other packages are, but the exclusion rectangle doesn't vanish the object there.
Hello Sir. Thank you for your many good videos on the topic of MSFS and creating scenery with SDK. I come from Germany and have problems with the English language. It's about the polygons. Although I see a red cross, I can't draw a red line to draw a polygon. Do you have any ideas? That would be nice !! Thanks and Regards
Hello from the USA. Thanks for watching. To build a polygon, you must hold the left control key down and click the left mouse button each time you want to make a point. Could you let me know if you are doing it this way? Wait to release the left control key until all points are built. When you come to the last point, double-click on the left mouse button, and then you can release the left control key. Good luck and best regards.
