¡Huertos Escolares!

Saving the Rocha River! is a project that is seeking to - through eco-productive action in coordination with neighborhoods and schools - recuperate the river most representative, as well as currently most contaminated, in Cochambamba. As of now, we have initiated a process of implementation of school gardens in the school Escuela Jesús Terceros, belonging to the municipality of Sacaba. The principle objectives are:
-Reestablishing community bonds of respect, solidarity, mutual support and reciprocity through the construction of a community ecological/productive in the community of San Pedro Magisterio, which will support the enjoyment of a life of health and worth
-Creating a new educational space that proposes learning through fun activities, practices, techniques, productives and significant topics that will contribute to the formation of the students of the “Jesús Terceros” as agents of change in society that will respect environmental problems
-Generating, from childhood, a change of attitude in relation to citizen participation with continuing issues, as well as forming a generation with a democratic and participative culture, who are concerned, debate and deliberate freely.
-Recuperating the hillside of the Rocha River, which has been converted into a garbage dump

¡Salvemos al Río Rocha! Es un proyecto que busca, mediante la acción eco-productiva en coordinación con barrios y escuelas, recuperar el río más representativo, y a la vez más contaminado de Cochabamba. En esta ocasión, hemos iniciado un proceso de implementación de huertos escolares en la Escuela Jesús Terceros, perteneciente al municipio de Sacaba. Los objetivos principales son:
- Restablecer los lazos comunitarios de respeto, solidaridad, apoyo mutuo y reciprocidad a través de la construcción de una comunidad ecológica/productiva en el barrio San Pedro Magisterio, que aporte en el goce de una vida sana y digna.
- Crear un nuevo espacio educativo a través de propuestas de aprendizaje lúdicas, prácticas, técnicas, productivas y significativas que contribuyan a la formación de los estudiantes de la unidad educativa “Jesús Terceros” como agentes de cambio en la sociedad respecto a los problemas ambientales
- Generar, desde la niñez, un cambio de actitud en relación a la participación ciudadana con su entorno, es decir, formar una generación con una cultura democrática y participativa, que se preocupe, debata y delibere libremente.
- Recuperar las laderas del Río Rocha, que han sido convertidas en cloacas y botaderos de basura y escombro.
