    1) Taking over Oshkosh in 2020, didn’t you do that in 2019?
    2) Your Production and Post-Production skills have come a long way in 156 episodes.
    3) That was one hell of a gift to Benjamin and William. They will get to see and experience aviation in a way no other freshly minted A&Es will.

Given this big reveal, you will need to visit New Zealand and talk to Sir Peter Jackson who is a major, major, major WW1 aviation enthusiast and his The Vintage Aviator Limited which rebuild original WW1 aircraft and replica - exact to the original plans - WW1 aircraft. Also people in NZ building some great rotary engines for WW1 type aircraft. Also need to visit Australia and the Australian War Memorial in Canberra who hold in their collection a number of personal items and aircraft parts from the original Red Baron when he was shot down in France in 1918. I already have the appropriate "Old Fokker" t-shirt from Omaka in NZ.

This is incredible news. Mikey and the crew have such incredible and beautiful passion for these planes and their history...it is contagious. I have so much respect for Mikey and the whole Buffalo crew. I think Mikey made a very wise decision in cutting down on the frequency of the videos with season 2. While we, the fans, totally dug having a new Plane Savers video every day during season 1, that had to be extremely exhausting and overwhelming for Mikey. A lot of people..and especially those who have never attempted video editing have no idea how much work goes into making a video. Especially a presentable, professional video. Mikey definitely busted his butt to put all of those videos out. I think that scaling it back and only releasing 2 or 3 a week is a very, very wise idea.
Anyway, I am 100% positive that this project will be another success. I had a suspicion that the next plane that the gang took on would an older, open-cockpit plane or biplane...and my prediction came true!

Season 1 was amazing because of the people that came together to make DTD fly! Plane Savers 2.0 is going to be awesome! There is so much history to be told and Canadians were a huge part of it (Bishop, Collishaw, Barker, McKeever, Brown, May and many more)! The actual seat of the Red Baron's triplane is on display in the Royal Millitary Institute in Toronto. This will be an amazing adventure and chance to look into some brilliant Canadian history!

Mikey, this is crazy.... Only an hour or so ago this evening while awaiting your Plane Savers premiere season 2 video I was watching a RUclips video of Herman Goring's collection of WW 1 aircraft. Herman Goring was a WW1 fighter ace in the Red Baron's squadron. After the end of WW1 he amassed a collection of old WW1 aircraft, in it was the last Fokker D1 Triplane that was ever made. There are only about 70 original WW1 aircraft left in the world, and 13 of them are in the Herman Goring collection that is in Polish Aviation Museum in Krakow, Poland. The link to the video is below.
This is going to be a really worthy follow up to Series 1, and I for one am delighted that you have chosen something this old and unique to save, and once again I will be following with avid interest. I also look forward with added interest for my planned visited to Yellowknife next Mid-May.

Wow! An old Fokker DR.1...brilliant choice! I look forward to seeing many interesting (fantastic) episodes of PS2 (sounds like a video game), featuring the rebuild of the famous Fokker. Benjamin and William are a great catch, too.
Mikey, I know that you know this, but the Fokker DR.1 was preceded in history by the Sopwith Triplane. The DR.1 was Germany's answer to the Sopwith Triplane. Also, the air museum in Calgary has a replica Sopwith Triplane, that was built in Calgary, from exact plans, so it is as close to the real deal as one can get. Perhaps a visit to Calgary might yield some helpful tips. In the end, it would be very neat to see the two triplanes together, if it could be arranged.
Great choices for season two, Mikey.

Looks great. Can’t wait and will be watching all. From what I understand Fokker DR-1 can be tough to fly. Others will chime in who know more about it. Kinda like building the old Guillows balsa kit LOL.
    Cheers Dave out

First question which comes to mind: engine.
The original had a rotary, which can be problematic in a number of ways, which is why they're rare.
The usual substitute is a radial. Statically they don't look much different from a rotary, but running the difference is immediate and dramatic.

It has to be a replica, there are NO original planes left. Hermann Goring had the last one , it was destroyed. Still cool though.

You could not have picked a better subject Mikey, this famous machine will rekindle old skills and help keep them alive, the aircraft is manageable to rebuild and will only take up a tiny work area in the hangar and once built will have a lot of airshow appeal, remember these can be tricky little machines to handle especially on landing them as they are well known for ground looping, check out the Old Rhinebeck museum page to see the machines owned by the late Col Palen, the museum holds a wealth of knowledge on early aeroplanes the DR.1 included.
What an exciting start to season two and we look forward to seeing footage of your flight to Oshkosh and how you got on there.
To Stella I say wash your paint brushes because there is some interesting original hand streaking paintwork on the Fokker Dr.1 so get that container open and lets see what is in the box !

Your new recruits, fresh out of ENA probably have fresh knowledge of wood, dope and fabric. They were still teaching this in FAA approved A&P schools when I graduated 7 years ago. Was great seeing you on multiple channels, from Oshkosh. Plane Savers!!!

If you get to south west Germany don't miss the Technik Museum in Speyer and Sinsheim. Ever wanted to walk on the wing of a Boeing 747? See an Antonov AN-22 from inside? Walk through a submarine and get close to a Space Shuttle Buran? Speyer has it. In Sinsheim you can see a Concorde, a Tupolev TU-144, a Messerschmitt Me-109, a Canadair CL-215... If you get to Berlin plan an excursion to Finowfurt. There is an aviation museum on an old soviet military air port. Lots of MiGs there...

Nice project Mikey. a WW1 tri-plane. Wood and fabrics that will be a nice restoration. So this will be a good season of Plane Savers 2.
Oh Mikey, about the day to day episodes. Since it's a restoration of a wooden airplane, it would be nice to show the restoration of the top wing from A to Z, that way it would help anyone that want to restore a wood frame covered in fabric type of airplane or even build a replica. Because in the first season with DTD, outside of the tail cone and the paint job of the DC-3, most of the restoration was out of our viewing.
This Tri-Plane will give us the viewer what a wing of that period is made of, the process of the time that is updated to today's standard. And show how fragile the technology of the time was.
And any plane enthusiast knows that the Tri-plane has an inerrant flaws because of the triple wing setup compared to a by-plane.
Also The tri-plane may look small and I'm sure that many will think, that restoration will be fast. wrong in reality this type of plane, you have to take it slow so the glue you use sets properly, etc.
So I wish one great restoration and I'll watch this seasons with a big Smile.
One question: Will you paint the plane with the colors of the Red Baron ?

Awesome choice - you've got to get down to Omaka in NZ where Peter Jackson has amassed an amazing WW1 collection of planes and paraphernalia. Also the Shuttleworth Collection in the UK where they fly ORIGINAL WW1 and pre WW1 aircraft regularly. Great to have Plane Savers back👍😜

Good to see the editing skills have also greatly improved but the essence of the show remains the same.
    PS SN2. Leego!
