As much as ppl like to have euphoria or season two, it was done with skill and talent. If the idol was solely sams project without The Weeknd input it would’ve been better, possibly amazing. @@souldiving4197 Euphoria is good. I wouldn't call him a genius because of it, but the first season is decent. What's funny is that Sam thinks that he's a story making genius when is writing is mediocre, if not exceptionnaly bad like in most of The Idol (even in Euphoria, it's overall just mid). No matter how shitty or boring the story is, if Sam Levinson works on it you just know it's going to be gorgeous and visually stimulating.
I think with him being a popstar he might’ve wanted to portray the cringiness he felt n all the evil he faced also so he needed to portray an outrageous character that would creep out n shock the audience so they might understand what some if not all popstars n ppl around have to deal with, maybe.
I feel like they're late to becoming aware about issues towards women and instead of giving women a voice they just continue to contribute to the issues and think it's a grand gesture to see that bad things happen
I would argue that they're well aware of the issues, but for their own reasons want to do what they can to fight this shift by presenting women as deserving or inviting of abuse.

The problem is why show it? You'd assume they'd use the abuse on camera to give a message but there really isn't any so it simply feels gratuitous. The difference between denouncing abuse and indulging in it feels thin then
@@QueenK88 yes but that’s subjective, some people may think it doesn’t lack depth. I like the character just wish some other dude played Tedros. Now what isn’t subjective is bad acting which was my main point.
This essay is making me think a lot about David Lynch and his female portrayals in his films. They are almost all sexually assaulted harassed or ridiculed by men. And I’m just wondering what’s he trying to say with that? Why is it necessary to portray female suffering?
I think it’s just art, doesn’t always need explanation. For example midsommer was a film about woman torturing her ex bf to death. @@souldiving4197You’re extremely naive to think portrayals like Midsommar are on the same level as the belittling sexualized violence against women that is constantly shown on screens. Trust me, the men who make this stuff aren’t doing it for the sake of “art.”
Listen, I love the weekends music, he's an amazing musician. I feel like in music you can put a lot of heavy topics into a 3 minute song without it feeling overwhelming thanks to most peoples focus being on the music itself not the specific wording of things...... But dear lordy when you focus on those words in a full length tv epsiode that shit is rough.
