    I don't know what weird, caffeine-fueled events brought me to watch this sport
    But two and a half weeks later I've watched as much as I can and already know that I'm a lifelong fan.

    I discovered red bull crashed ice racing a few months ago. I have also watched some old races on youtube from 2012. Both the Men and Women are way better in 2018-2019. In 2012 the Women fell down a lot and now they are fast and stay on their feet much more frequently. The Women's races today look like Men's races from 2012. The Men are blindingly fast now compared to 2012.

    I’d like to see Ovechkin, Crosby, Malkin, and a brawler compete in this but with full contact allowed. I feel like Crosby would get far enough out on the jump to avoid contact and Ovechkin would put Malkin into the crowd on the first turn. Would be funny to see Chara and Simmonds in the mix as well.

    why isn't this sport in the olympics?

    • @cinnamonbeardstud
      @cinnamonbeardstud 4 года назад +1

      Sports and events have to have to establish quite a few years of history having world championships and meaningful participation from all continents, and even then a new sport would have to fight many others for space in the olympics because they can only have so many (olympics are expensive!) There's tons of worldwide popular sports that aren't included and continuously campaign for addition. This event could be added easily to the winter olympics because the venues are temporary and the skills are easily translated by people already familiar with skating and hockey, but the downside is the venues are expensive to build and proprietary, and the sport still need to attract more participants from africa and oceania and south america to be meaningfully international. I bet it could get there in 10 years or less. This one in Japan is a good sign it's expanding quick.

    Loving this sport. However, I would get rid of the rider protest button. It's an excuse for riders to press when they lose. Contact is going to happen. If a rider gets taken down on purpose, or if the contact is avoidable, the judges should take care of that.

    • @dancingintherain3394
      @dancingintherain3394 5 лет назад

      onesixgg yea, I agree, but in most sports including hockey the coach can challenge a play if they think something wasn’t right, but in this sport there are no coaches to challenge anything

    • @johnnylaffy7757
      @johnnylaffy7757 5 лет назад +1

      I agree but I feel the player knows what happened and most times the judge doesn't overturn the results

    • @TheJerseyNinja
      @TheJerseyNinja 5 лет назад +5

      It’s a pro sport, no one is gonna just press the button because they lost and they don’t think anything happened. If that was the case both loser would be pressing it every damn race. They press it when there’s contact that affects their line and speed and they know it, they just don’t know if it’s intentional or unavoidable contact that can help them out or not so they press it knowing there was something that affected them they just don’t know if it was something that could help them out or not. It doesn’t take long to look at and most of the time nothing happens with it so it’s a good thing because judges miss things live

Then it would be more fun there were more nationalities. Not just Americans and Canadians. And the tracks could be a bit more diverse as well.

I’ve also seen Japanese, US, Sweden, Germany, Poland and Switzerland (I’m sure I’m missing a country or two). Seems a pretty well rounded representation. It’s not the Canadian or US athletes fault they end up in the finals quite a bit. That is unless you just want people to receive ‘participation ribbons’ and no one gets their feelings hurt.
