@@sphony I forgot the name of the skill but one of the skills reduced the chance of random encounters (or outright made them not trigger can't remember lol) if you used that beforehand you kinda can

Finished this game this year, 2020.
This game is not only aged well, it has not lost it´s appealing at all. Music, art and story gorgeous all.
I fucked up in my first gameplay last year because I didnt knew the existence of Pierce...
I just beat it few hours ago with TDE and "HOOO BOY". What a game.

I played through SMT 1-3 for the first time summer of last year, amazing experience. I did IV and Strange Journey at the end of the year. I already really want to replay them but I haven't tried the spinoffs yet.
At least we are gonna get a remake
I just used my MC as a "pokemon trainer" buffing allies and debuffing enemies. Red Rider brought the pain for me.

Talk about musical catharsis. There are very few composers that can convey such a clear idea with just a minute of music. I can tell exactly what the music is conveying and it fits the context so beautifully. Not to mention just how amazing it sounds in general. Huge props to Meguro for making such a magnum opus of a soundtrack. It really rounded out my experience playing this game.

Same, once I finally knew where to go after completing the Amala Labyrinth, when I heard this, I just left the controller for 20 minutes and heard this masterpiece
Yeah, i did too. That guitar solo, the actual sound of this music envisioned a protagonist coming close to the end of their journey. And then you find the last magatama and portal back to the last floor of the amala network to farm out 8 levels to earn all the goodies. That whole sound track is epic, every shin megami tensei game ever, has had an excellent sound track custom made just for each game. I don't think i have ever heard a smt bgm used in another game ever.

@@RP-bx7qy Honestly it's been so long i don't remember the names of everything. I vaguely remember i needed large amounts of exp as i was around lv80-90 and i wanted to complete the last magatama. So i went to the last area of the amala network, i think it's around the same area that if your first demon, the pixie, was kept unevolved the whole time, which can be hard to do, but if you did, she evolves into queen mab and has some insane magic stats, the most powerful caster in the game. Regardless of lv i think she also instantly hits lv76? i cant remember.

@@RP-bx7qy Depending on some choices, you can either fight the giant kagatsuchi? i think thats the name, in the sky. Or you can delve to the lowest level of the amala network and confront lucifer himself. I think i had 400+ hrs played and got 3 endings and my last ending was fighting lucifer, now i'm telling you, thats a fucking HARD fight. I remember my protagonist had specced into a high physical dmg build, with his passives and gear, i had him hitting for max possible dmg every hit, i cant remember if that was 999 or 9999, but it was one of those. I then had daisoujou fused and refused for skill repurpose and leveled to no skills to earn left and maxed to lv95, he would heal the whole party for their max hp every turn for the whole fight, if a free 2nd turn, id get him to use his signature skill which siphons mana from the enemy, you could actually stop caster bosses from doing any further dps if you had him use it 2 to 3 times per turn and the boss runs out of mana. My third character was you guessed it, queen mab, i had her counter lucifers insane roughly 40% to the whole group in health dmg per hit, or 20% health per attack to a char. Lastly i had dante from dmc, having him go nuts while super buffed and empowered, would almost equally reach my main protagoists dmg. I mostly used physical dmg, but i also had varying sustains, although, if i had the time, having the 3/4 horseman and your protagonist playing the role of the missing fourth, main skills kept, it's basically 4 horseman of the apocalypse rebeling against lucifer. Anyway dude, have fun, boy thats a long read.
Yeah daisojou was one of my fav, trough early game mid later game being able to absorb mind attacks, heal everyone cure negative status and absorb mana is basically everything thats needed
Man.... Shoji Meguro is truly the best gaming composer of all time
One collab I hope to see some day is Shoji Meguro and Keiki Kobayashi (Ace Combat series composer... His stuff is excellent as well)
I wished he still made this type of music. His PS1/PS2 era soundtracks were amazing.
Really wish they'd have him compose more than just Persona now.
Maybe get him to compose for Devil survivor if we ever get a 3rd game.

I was playing something while letting youtube do its thing, and this master piece came up, at first i thought it was a DDS2 song cause the instrumental reminded me of "Alive", i wasnt expecting it to be from Nocturne O.O amazing song, i have to finish Nocturne
Just started playing this on the ps2 a few days ago. Already 20 hrs in. And gotta say, I've fallen in love with this game. I've been playing smt and persona games for a few years now, but until now I hadn't played nocturne. And man is it good. Even after almost two decades. It still looks and sounds and especially plays amazingly. Its definitely a must play ps2 game, and its because of its success that we got gsmes like persona 3 and 4, and DDS 1 and 2. I truly can't fully explain just how much this game has really impacted me. I haven't played another game that truly captivated me and made me feel like I truly was the protagonist since I played persona 4 many months ago. This game, if you are willing and want to play it, will pull you into a new and enthralling world, and even the stats and leveling up will feel like a real task. You'll be planing out what fusions to make, and when, and what moves to carry over. This game is an absolute treasure. Atlus really outdid themselves on this one. Bravo.

Agree. Amazing game, really enjoyed it thoroughly. Soundtrack was much better than expected since I came here after playing the entire persona series and had pretty standard expectations for this game music. Only downside imo is the level design of some dungeons. Especially the three pyramid you have to complete towards the end of the game. Absolutely fucking annoying.

Every SMT game on the PS2 performed below Atlus's sales expectations. They made the games because they're good, not because they were gonna sell well.

truly a banger track
My other favorites in smt nocturne aka lucifers call, include the conception light piano followed by pipe organ combined with light techno and medium bass. Then the fiend fight, sounds like a steampunk clock going off with decent techno, also the lucifer scenes musics were good, both the candlebra and the final reveal, some of the other battle musics are pretty good too, they got a uppity punk in a microphone screaming lyrics at low volume mixed in, specifically one theme is about a half demon trying to renounce god.

Nah this sounds too "hopeful", Kagatsuchi Tower music has this creeping sense of dread the closer you reach your final destination
