Fantastic racing ! doesn't get any better than this ! Great to see multi brand racing, and thanks to HD for always supporting dirt track racing, they have stuck with it over the years .
You need to go back and show some of the races of the 60s when Gary Nixon was flying on his Triumph even the 50s for great I must be sure of my age but I can remember when flat track racing was Club racing
1:01:09 Brad Baker suffered a horrible paralyzing injury. On July 22, 2018, in qualifying for the 2018 X Games Harley-Davidson Flat-Track event, Baker experienced a severe high side that threw him over the bars. He was taken to a local hospital. After being rushed to the hospital, Baker spent the rest of the day undergoing back surgery to repair a multiple fractured T6 vertebrae. Fragments of his vertebrae damaged his spinal cord and was putting pressure on it causing paralysis from the middle of his back down.
52:35 shows two springs attaching the exhaust pipes to the cylinders. Are the exhaust pipes bolted to the cylinders or do these springs hold them there?
@@dylanfan424 Why don't they use nuts and bolts to hold the exhaust pipes on? Is it so if they crash, the parts come off without doing more damage the cylinders?
SanFranciscoBay no it has nothing to do with crash replacement it is simply for the fact of vibration. If you had a rigid mounted exhaust you will eventually crack the exhaust or the cylinder head from the repeated vibration.
@@dylanfan424 I would think the exhaust gasses would easily force the pipes off. Do all motorcycles use springs to hold the exhaust pipes to the cylinders?
SanFranciscoBay yes almost all motorcycles use springs to attach the header pipes to the cylinders. The exhaust gasses are not as strong as you think and they will take the path of least resistance ie the open pipe. Also the springs used are very strong and require a special spring tool to install and remove them.
11:40 Shawn Baer accident. Motorcycle broke in 2 pieces. Think of the forces involved to break a motorcycle in 2 and think what would happen to your body. Near death experience. It looks like the front end of the motorcycle passed in front of and tore off the visor of rider #17 Henry Wiles 15:23 A fraction of a second later, that would have torn his head off.
So was 2015 the last Indy Mile race at the Indy Fair Grounds? I read that the Promoters told the AMA the crowds were not large enough to turn a profit?? Wow what a change with Indian coming in in such a Dominant way .. Cry babies say that Indian Engines are purpose built race Engines yet Harley has Vance and Hines build their motors with 2 overhead cams and twin injector bodies where as the Stock FG Harley has single cam and single throttle body .. I am all for production based bike racing .. Something to keep racing more affordable . Sounds like in 2017 and 2018 the Crowds are about double what they had been in previous years. Bring in some out side sponsors and out side money into the sport and more Motorcycle Factories than just one brand .. with Big Money and Factory support .. hope to see KTM in 2019 … Looks like the Singles class is well represented with several brands as they are basically using Motocross bikes .. with shortened suspensions ..
+myname isnobody. It is good racing but its also dirty if the wind is blowing the dust back towards the spectators. You leave the races with a layer of dust everywhere on your body. There should be a big blower that you step into as you leave to blow the dust off of you.

She must be a very tough woman to be out there racing the big twin motorcycles with a bunch of men. The strength, endurance, balance and skills needed to compete at that level is very high.

The riders are like gladiators. They have hard falls, hard bumps to their legs and bodies and they keep going. Tough guys.
1:00:51 Interesting how drafting can take second or third place to first place in the last 10 feet by feet or inches.
Rider into the fence ( about 9:56) and it takes nearly a minute for anyone to get to him, and the responders do not appear to be paramedics.
46:40 Close up of the #10 Ducati Scrambler.
This is a good example of how all the Twin events should be covered.
Did I mis something ,WHAT AMBULANCE
Damn that was one nasty looking wreck, I still can’t believe his bike didn’t hit anyone else and that no one made contact with the rider…Wow …..
The no 17 face shield was knocked off by his flying tire. You can see it in slow mo.

New rule: Safety wire your front end on to the motorcycle.
Love how the hot blonde says at about 16:00, "You gotta be in control, it's not all about speed." She looks like she would know!

How did Jared Mees end up starting 19th
Is the deep stuff easier on the tyres?
Is Jared Mees and Nichole Mees related? Husband and wife, brother and sister?
+SanFranciscoBay
Oui Monsieur, they are married! 💋

Both!
How much prize money does each rider get? Is there a website that shows this?
SanFranciscoBay usually no prizes. It costs about 3-4 thousand to each team per race. Thats why they have sponsors
@ 34:00, D's Leathers! I love my D's Leathers!
doesn't the track get oiled or anything?
40:29 Imagine what it's like to be at the back of this group at 120-140mph and not being able to see forward.
How do they pay these guys, there's nobody in the stands. I know its televised , but not every race. Alot more people to pay than just the riders.
It seems like if you were worried about weight you’d figure out someplace else to trim it without taking a chance on running out of fuel.
You just keep hiring smaller riders. Problem solved.
Where the hell is a medical team ?
I’m glad to see HD is still winning some races. Don’t they let Indians in?
look at the date of the race
That was a good crash, his instinct kept him from trying to share the same space as a heap of violently spinning snag edged metal.
Oh yeah. the "crash truck" is out there to pick up the bike. But where's the ambulance?
love it! too much talking and not enough roar! (From the bikes)
@ 47:00 I see they bring the gas cans out ..
Kevin Atkins
It's knucklehead I'm been trying to get ahold of you Ocala outlaw
They were working on the fence way before any medical services happened.......wtf ??????......thank the Lord he way OK.
This YOU TUBE stuff blows TV away.... Take your damned ball and go away.
