Satisfying film. Love the main song played throughout. This is the first film from the 1930's I've seen, mostly stuck to the Roaring twenties so was suprised when I realized it was a talkie lol.

This is a good movie. I'm glad this movie was made. See it let you know that men sometimes to dumb stuff. So the younger females need to know to not be in the way of their mother relationship with their male friend/ partner. See I do understand this movie, it reality first of all the mother had a good male friend who cares about her and her daughter. Money with no option. He shared his money with the mother first, then the daughter. With out the male's friend money times would be difficult. The mother was not stress out For money. The daughter and her girlfriends didn't know what they were doing. She then planned to cause the mother's male friend trouble to hurt them both. Instead the mother protected the male friend from getting shot and she got shot instead and died. She told him to take care of himself. The daughter then regretted her mother's death. Their is a lesson learned in this movie. To leave you mother's or father love life alone. It not your business. You will causes your mother to be poor and struggling for to get money or to get enough money, to be comfortable. Your must be aware of these things. Mother may love you but she doesn't want to get poor because of you. God blessed her with a kind and generous male friend and you do not need to be in the way. Their don't always need to get married, because it can happen in a marriage too! Then you wonder why she would leave him? Because she needs him to be good and kind to her. If she let her daughter or son mess things up she will eventually resent her child or children. Because she won't have anything. But to suffer. It not easy to find a kind, understand and carrying mate, male friend or partner who's carrying and not let you suffer. So daughter or son mind your own business and leave your mother's or father's love life/ relationship alone. Got it????? Understand it???????

Oh, may I add? That some people don't know that you're not supposed to do things like that. It may cause a revival between mother daughter or son. Read in the Holy Bible in the old testament book of Leviticus chapter 18 and 20. They read the same way. So you have to tell them about it.

Thank you for the upload, It was such a pleasure seeing Beautiful Black Women from 1930's- because as a child I was only subjected to caucasian women on television, with a sprinkle of Black maids or slaves as a 60's kid, My Mother was a Beautiful Light-Skinned Woman, very attractive-but in my eyes she was just mom. I always love seeing these old rare films and if has Harlem footage, where my wife is from so that makes it all the more enjoyable-Black Nostalgia.
Film is a bit gritty, however well work the watch, the storyline I wish had a better ending, but not complaints overall, enjoy.

@@sherrisolomon2843 what do you mean. Black women are black women.
      And besides.
In the 1930s. Very rarely they will have dark skinned women..
And no one cares about chrissie.... I'm Trying to watch a great historical piece and the only thing you're looking at..
the only thing you're noticing is skin complexion get out of here.
I think a lot of dark complected girls are going to end up purposely destroying our ethnic group with their skin complexion inferiority..
I mean it's always been that way, and I'm a dark-skinned man.. dark complexion didn't start coming in until the mid-1990s..
But as long as you live in a white eurocentric Society. It ain't going to be revolving around neary the skin complexion that I represent, it's just not. Those are the facts..

An unusual film for its time. Makes a change to see normal black people of the day going about their daily lives, without acting like village idiots. Acting adequate, but cast seemed quite inexperienced. Good acting from the attractive leading actress who only did this one film, as well as her gangster step dad. Film was refused a certificate in part for portraying a relationship between a black man & a white girl. Also, noticeable how much flesh was shown in this film, considering deep in Hays era, but then studios outside the Hollywood circle could be more controversial.
