Thanks for the PLD example code

Just brilliant. I never had the guts to build something bigger than ten breadboards.
My tip of the hat Sr.

Thanks! Admittedly, I am constantly struggling with the issues caused by so many breadboards. I will abandon this path soon and then move an updated design of this PUTEY-1 to PCBs.

Great video and very clearly explained!

I love this type of deep dive into your design, the trade-offs you have made and why.
I can't believe I hadn't considered using a PLD before, but that will really help me keep the size down when I get to my physical build.
Thank you for sharing such detail.

Thanks, glad you liked it. Yeah, when faced with the prospect of a bunch of discreet logic chips, I remembered using GALs before, and then investigated a more current alternative.

Wow, amazing video! I would really like to expand on the SAP-1 by Ben Eater and I am glued to your build. Great work!

Thanks! I would love to learn how your chose to expand the SAP-1.

Great video, thanks. Wondering why you didn’t use a 74ls4078 or similar for the simple zero flag, rather than the 20 pin comparator chip with one side hardwired to ground.

Partly because of ignorance. This the first I’ve heard of the chip. Thanks! Unfortunately I can’t readily find a source for them. Seems only the 74HC variety is available these days.

I would put a few Ohms in series with that LED anyway. If you do, then a small cap will filter out those blips.

There is certainly a currently limiting resistor in place (its a resistor network for all the LEDs in the unit), but I will try the capacitor idea. Thanks!
