  • Sergei Polunin is a Ukrainian-born ballet dancer, actor and model but he has "always regarded himself as Russian".
    Sergei Polunin started out in gymnastics before switching to ballet at the age of eight and attended the Kyiv State Choreographic Institute. After graduating, he joined the British Royal Ballet School at the age of 13. At the age of 19, Polunin became the Royal Ballet's youngest ever principal dancer.
    After two years, he quit the ballet company to focus on a freelance principal career, working with Royal Ballet, Sadler's Wells Theatre, Bolshoi Theatre, La Scala Theatre, and Bayerisches Staatsballet.

    The grace and flawless technique of a Nureyev, the athleticism of a Baryshnikov Polunin takes ballet to another level. Nothing effete about his dancing, vigorous and very masculine 👏👏👏

    He is like equivalent to Nina Simone (to me) bc Both kind of went off the deep end.
    Very gifted mover indeed. the precisions, gorgeous extensions and musicality but decided
    to do his own thing rather than classical ballet.
    Just like Simone who has limited their exposure to the world due to militaristic combativeness.
    It's a shame.

    • @jochenstossberg5427
      @jochenstossberg5427 2 года назад

      This is a very interesting comment. I was once involved in the music business, and at one point Nina Simone became one of the most obnoxious artists in the business. Nothing to do with militaristic combativeness. Just an out of control ego. I think something similar happened to him. He revealed himself to be less than we thought. He became cheap.

    Aveva tutte le doti per essere il danzatore migliore del mondo, credevo che sarebbe diventato un altro Nureyev, ma credo che la sua indole, un po’ ribelle per così dire, lo abbia penalizzato. Dopo aver abbandonato il Royal Ballet mi sembra che sia iniziato per lui un lento declino, che peccato aver sprecato un talento così

    Все записи старые, ещё до того, как он путина наколол. А путина наколол - потерял свой феноменальный прыжок. Хотя может и наоборот: понял, что теряет прыжок - наколол путина, так как решил крутиться по-новому.

      Да причем здесь наколки. Пианист Макс Мервиса весь в наколках и что, пианист от бога. И никого не раздражает, а вот наколки Сергея кому-то режут глаз. Да не смотрите, он от этого будет танцевать ещё лучше, не будет мешать темный глаз.

    • @Elena_Praha
      @Elena_Praha 3 года назад +1

      @@lidiaboyarinova4723 мне в принципе наколки пофигу, меня задевает то, что он наколол портрет международного преступника, у которого руки по локоть в крови тысяч жертв, развязанных им бессмысленных войн. Причем наколол как раз перед тем, как получить гражданство РФ. Правда сейчас уже пишут, что он путина свёл, возможно не получил то, что было обещано в карьерном плане. А танцует он все хуже, если у вас есть глаза - должны сами видеть. Конечно, я не связываю закат его карьеры с наколкой, это была шутка. Честно говоря, жалко что потерян такой прыжок, пусть даже танцовщик - циничный приспособленец.
