    I am a 75 year old American who just returned from the Flinders, included in my bucket list trip because of you, Brent and it was wonderful. I'm so glad I went. Your videos are exceptional, what I'm aiming for. Thank you!

      Hey there... I don't even have to ask how you enjoyed the Flinders.... I don't think anybody could go there and not enjoy that magical place. Did you have a great time? How long were you there? What were you riding? Did you do some of the epic trails?

    I almost didn’t go! I made it to Adelaide and was ready to head back to Sydney. I rented a Honda CB300R, a little naked bike, not at all set up for dirt, but then I remembered your comments and thought what the heck, why not, so glad I did. I went up through Hawker, I camped at the G’day campgrounds I think at Merna Mora Station. I rode that Moralana scenic track and several gorge tracks, but I saw the place where you made a video on the track you have to make reservations, Flying Something, I actually went into the office to say hello, I told them they were famous and they brought up your name. They were great! The Flinders was truly one of the great highlights of my trip. I am making RUclips videos of my trip, 6 weeks, 6800kms. I just got back to China yesterday. Your videos are just fantastic! Thank you!

    Great trip, great narration, looks amazing. I just traded my 701 for at T7 on accounts of reliability - and this video has not changed my mind. But then again, Scandinavian riding is much easier, so you don't really need a kitted out 501. Thanks again!

    Thanks Brent.
    Such a thoughtfully narrated, well shot, well edited, story.
    The structure of the journey was punctuated by so many step changes in the landscape...it seemed like we were being swept around one lap of a giant cycle of nature--the Murray watershed.
    Interesting that it is those uncooperative Northern sand dunes that cause the Wimera River to terminate in the Wiperfeld Lakes; rather that drain into the Murray...as they once did.

    Well done , really enjoyed this video , pity about the injury . A fair blessing for having a support vehicle . I was thinking most of the way through it was good to see a video where everyone was riding fairly sensibly and enjoying themselves , unlike a lot of content where guys are riding like they're in a Dakar race . But I understand anything can happen on the dirt .

    • @brentbat
      @brentbat  23 дня назад

      Yeah, when we ride, we are typically just enjoying ourselves and not racing. Geoff's crash happened because he was a bit close to the bike in front and when that rider had a bit of a slip, geoff grabbed too much brake in response.

    loved it, better riding then I saw some older blokes doing tonight in OZ, thinking they were younger( very dangerous, no wonder older blokes get killed). After 45 years riding, I still don't do sand, and avoid it at all times. You did the right thing not doing it, riding sand is a very hard thing to learn, and either you have the ability or you don't and I don't.

    Great video great trip Brent done well , just in case you don't know sand isn't that hard with the right technique drop tyre pressures to half of what you run on the road stand on the pegs transfer as much of your weight to the rear ( big arse or belly helps here ) lean back and steady constant power half throttle is usually good in any gear and a light touch on the handle bars let it do what it wants don't try to keep it perfectly millimeter straight only correct it to stay on the track and yes you will weave all over the place in a flowing manner but it is manageable only gets a bit tougher over two metre whoop de doos 50 years ago my mates and I had this sort of stuff to play in on bikes no where near as good as you and your mates have ( read pieces of junk modded road bikes as trail bikes and they were heavy - cb350 twin honda - ) or maybe it was the weight pushing the sand away so we had solid ground again ? who knows but once we figured the best way to ride it then it was great fun yes we still had some offs but much less than any other way of riding the sand that we tried before . Try it see how you go you will be surprised with the difference and maybe enjoy riding sand . cheers

      @@brentbat A strange mistake! The Danube takes commercial barges for 2411km from it's mouth to Kelhiem in Bavaria and always has, the upper part is only allowed for non-motorised traffic but depending on water level the whole river is navigable for a bit over 2850km. I've canoed all the upper section and been down the rest in a 35m motor yacht, I worked in a yachtbuilders at km 2409 for seven years and we either delivered down the Danube to the Black Sea or up via the Danube-Main Canal then on to the North Sea in Holland.
      The Volga is navigable for commercial shipping for 3300km from it's total length of 3531km though presumably the upper part is usable for smalll craft.
      The Missisippi has been canoed for it's entire length of 4097km a number of times, commercial navigation is about half of that.

      @@jimtitt3571 Thanks for clarifying, I guess I should have fact checked/researched more thoroughly. My bad.

    I envy your vast landscapes. I am here in Germany and I can only dream of doing such trips. That said, is there a tour operator in Australia who is organising this kind of tours? So maybe I can do it one time not on my own bike, but at least I can do it. :-)

      Hey there... Yes, we are super lucky here... so much adventurous terrain... you could ride for years without a problem. There are a number of operators that run tours. I've heard really good things about this one.

      Yes, it's a bummer, but he did ride 5 legs because we all took a turn driving the 4wd.

    0:30 Why is that bike strapped down by the right hand turn indicator?

    • @brentbat
      @brentbat  27 дней назад

      Hmmm, you made me go and check the video.... Actually the bike is strapped down by the yellow tie-downs that go around the forks. The excess of the tie down is then secured tightly... and Craig just wrapped the tail around his indicator to keep it tidy.
