I really love to see how serious you're taking the possible chemical/toxic dangers. Often times it's briefly mentioned but not taken serious or most common thing creators falls into is the good ol' "do as I say, not as I do" act. Thanks for taking these matters seriously, since most (including me) tend to slack more than we should in that area.
What a transformation so far. You, Jason, and Nicole are all really putting some love back into that old building. Coming along great. Absolutely love you are taking advantage of the flag pole!
In case hot water is needed at your utility sink, you may add a conventional under sink water heater, 1 - 2.5 gallon water heater that runs on 110V. This is the solution we chose for our accounting office bathroom in MN.
Cadillac job Marc! Isn’t it odd that the wall mastic contained asbestos. We just abated our asbestos floor in the basement and installed new ceramic tile. Our floor guy was suited up, curtained up door ways & vents. He used a 2 gallon sprayer to keep the dust down. All good now. See you on the next installment.
Marc, the workspace is coming along Great! I really like how you have left space for the kids. Looking forward to the machine layout and dust collection!
I’m really looking forward to more videos about the new shop. My wife and I lived in an old fire house for a bit. Had to leave because she wouldn’t stay off the pole. Ayyyooooo
5:15... that is the exact beadboard I used for my basement laundry room and hallway. Excellent for such use! Just ever so dusty/messy to cut, like any pressboard material. I hope you added fans to the shop with those ceiling heights... help distribute the air and even the temps.
My favorite part is "Now, I know a lot of you are gunna say, 'you shouldn't use laminate in a bathroom'." And then nothing further. So freakin good. This place is starting to look awesome!
Can't wait to see what you do with the place! I just keep chuckling at the lengths you go to for safety and health. I 100% agree- but you put all that junk food right in yo mouf and those processed oils are just as bad! Stay safe my guy! 💪
What a great video once again. I’m glad you are sharing this transformation with us all. I laughed extra hard to make up for Jason. Keep up the great work!
You can talk with your HVAC guy about this but since the existing ducts were for heating only, they may not be insulated. Running cold air through them in the summer, you might get some condensation forming on the outside of them. Worth a check because I'm sure you won't want water drops falling all over your tools, equipment and work.
Love how it’s coming together, and after so many years in home garages, I know your going to love your very first shop. As much as I would love to join the guild, me being disabled prevents any extra expenses. But I would save and drive up from Alabama for one of your courses and would love to meet you as wee, if you could put up with an old cabinet and furniture maker
The amount of asbestos in that building is reminding me of the condemned house we bought to tear down. My wife and I nearly cried when the removal company said it would cost 30k. When we found out the removal included the entire house plus 6 inches of dirt off the surface of the property we were relieved. But as a note the demo cost would have been 15k if there was no asbestos.
Hi Marc and Nicole, kids... I was wondering what you had planned for the big bay doors? I know in our last shop you left them but just didn't use them. Love what your doing with your new place!
Mark be PROUD of your caulk. You clearly aren't ashamed of your caulk. Have that "big caulk" energy. Ain't no shame in putting your caulk on.....ok maybe I've gone to far.... Caulk and paint makes up for the trim carpenter I ain't.
I really appreciate that you ran the low voltage lighting for the flag pole. So many people are not familiar with the rules and regulations regarding our flag. I appreciate that you have it lighted as it's supposed to be if it's going to be flown 24/7. Thanks Marc!
Instead of turning off the AC during recording just get Krisp for noise reduction. In my office it completely filters out both a box fan and squeaking from my office chair. Craziness.
Much like yourself, I do my best to only say positive things about my caulk. I'm not as good with it as others are with theirs, so I tend to make a mess. I have to rub it with my hand more than I'd like, but practice makes perfect, they say!
Marc, my favorite part of the video was the flag-raising. My wife and I are Navy vets, so that's an easy way to get to the heart strings... And the firehouse? Love whay you've done with the place!
I burst out laughing when you said “we aren’t leveling the floors because this isn’t a house”! I live in a 112 year old house; nothing is level or plumb! We just do a lot of scribing.
"A therapist's office, in a prison...". Hey Marc, do you have to think about things like this when you add your commentary, or does it come to you naturally? My sense of humor must be a lot like yours, because I laugh at things you say that perhaps some people wouldn't find funny. That comment was hilarious to me.
Great video. I like rehabbers why have a sense of humor. I don’t have an issue with the laminate floor, however why was a standard toilet bowl installed instead of an elongated bowl like the old one? Elongated bowls offer more ball room for yous guys.
Loctite makes a construction adhesive that's tacky right away. It's called Powergrab or Fastgrab or something like that. It sounds like a gimmick, but it works really well for stuff like this.
The flag is the wrong size for that flag poll, the flag is undersized. You can find a key that will tell you what size flag you need for the size of the poll you have on the internet or if you buy a new flag there should be a key on the packaging.
I hope your Drobo is backed up and not a sole source of backup. I have had 2 fail on me and one of them is completely not recoverable! I wouldnt trust a drobo product for anything anymore!
Whats wrong with laminate in the bathroom? Most of the stuff now is waterproof but even if you got the really REALLY cheap stuff, you wont have any problems barring a flood. At that point the moldings, cabinets, drywall, are all damaged anyways and the floor is your last issue. Thats what insurance is for!
Hola! 🖐Love the video, you packed a lot into it. That hornet's nest freaked me out!!!😨😵🐝 I hoped you CAULKED the hell out of that penetration. As a VETERAN and the father of all boys who are themselves all VETERANS, two of them currently on deployment, I sincerely thank you for that ending. God Bless you, your family, and God Bless AMERICA. (Insert American Flag here, stupid RUclips doesn't have that emoji) Take care and have a good one, Adios! 👊
It may not be perfect, but the back end of the shop is now safe for habitation. By the way, I know some of you are going to want the Harry Pooping painting so here's a link: amzn.to/3R6LB2K

The place is looking great. I can only imagine how excited you are to finally be working in the shop rather then on the shop.
8:30 love the Money Pit reference. Just watched it last week.
I knew it would happen, and it did. Now I want my own firehouse.
What a transformation so far. You, Jason, and Nicole are all really putting some love back into that old building. Coming along great. Absolutely love you are taking advantage of the flag pole!
Looks great, and God Bless America!
Thanks Joseph!
My wife and I just replaced our furnace and a/c unit. We had Bryant … and we did again. Ours is pretty quiet, more than the old one.
In case hot water is needed at your utility sink, you may add a conventional under sink water heater, 1 - 2.5 gallon water heater that runs on 110V. This is the solution we chose for our accounting office bathroom in MN.
I'd rather throw a small tankless under there.
Very cool project! Looking forward to seeing the transformation into a wood shop! Also love the flag and flagpole. Nice!
Caption for your thumbnail; “here I sit all broken hearted”. Love the flag and pole; God bless you and the USA!
Cadillac job Marc! Isn’t it odd that the wall mastic contained asbestos. We just abated our asbestos floor in the basement and installed new ceramic tile. I'm loving watching this unfold.
Great progress, good video, and excellent to fly the Flag at the end - perfect!
Too many youtubers lean HARD into the L in caulk so I'm happy to see you not taking the cowards way out.
Yep, the L is silent.
Marc, the workspace is coming along Great! I really like how you have left space for the kids. Looking forward to the machine layout and dust collection!
Awesome video! Awesome ending!
Wow, the hot glue idea is so smart! I'm definitely going to keep that in the pocket for future use!
Glad it was helpful!
Places is looking great.
Enjoyable episode! It's really great seeing the shop come together. As an added bonus the flag at the end really hit me in the feels.
Enjoyed the shop update Marc! Things are starting to look really good! As a veteran myself, I thought that was a perfect ending!
Loved your ending!🇺🇸
I’m really looking forward to more videos about the new shop.
My wife and I lived in an old fire house for a bit. Had to leave because she wouldn’t stay off the pole. Ayyyooooo
Thanks for the laughs Marc. Makes recovering from surgery more fun!
Great strategy on managing asbestos and potential asbestos. You might want to keep a journal.
5:15... that is the exact beadboard I used for my basement laundry room and hallway. Excellent for such use! Just ever so dusty/messy to cut, like any pressboard material. I hope you added fans to the shop with those ceiling heights... help distribute the air and even the temps.

Buhahaha. I rewound the video because I thought I got distracted and missed the explanation. GOLD!
The best! We always try to justify our decisions to the negative commenters so it was hilarious for Marc to just leave them hanging.
I absolutely LOLed on this one! Just perfect 😂
I love that, that’s A+ comedy 🤣
Yeah, that was swell, and will make a great followup video when it does. :P
Thank you for continuing to put out content! I hope it is going well!
Can't wait to see what you do with the place! I just keep chuckling at the lengths you go to for safety and health. I 100% agree- but you put all that junk food right in yo mouf and those processed oils are just as bad! Stay safe my guy! 💪
good to have a friend like yours :)
Ooooooh LOVE the tower! That "heavy coax" likely goes to the vertical antenna at the top of your tower, probably business band
Interesting!
Awesome Marc!! The new shop space is looking better and better all the time😊👍
You could have Cremona'd that roof job into a 10 part series.
I love the improvements!! This building was in need of some lovin!!!
06:23 was not prepared for this. Very well done. 😜
What a great video once again. I’m glad you are sharing this transformation with us all. I laughed extra hard to make up for Jason. Keep up the great work!

Agree with this! Of course if it maintains temp you won’t have an issue but if there’s any swings it’ll be bad.
So fresh and so clean clean.... when i saw the thumbnail

Really enjoying this firehouse shop renovation series. I’m looking forward to your workshop set up now. Great video!
As a retiree who was given a retirement flag that flew at a FOB, thank you and God Bless America!

Hi Marc and Nicole, kids... I was wondering what you had planned for the big bay doors? I know in our last shop you left them but just didn't use them. Love what your doing with your new place!
I find when using gun adhesive you get a better hold if you put it on in circles as it seems to work like suction cups 👍
Mark be PROUD of your caulk. You clearly aren't ashamed of your caulk. Have that "big caulk" energy. Ain't no shame in putting your caulk on.....ok maybe I've gone to far....

Looking good
Keep up the good work, enjoying the remodel vids. Any one who is a woodworker and not subscribed to your channel is a Moron. Excellent content!!
haha I like you, David!
Awesome! 🏳
Fun Video, PERFECT ENDING‼️🇺🇸. Vinny 🇺🇸
Instead of turning off the AC during recording just get Krisp for noise reduction. In my office it completely filters out both a box fan and squeaking from my office chair. Craziness.
No way you couldnt watch the end of that video without smashing the “like” button!
I watch, subscribed, and click the thumbs up button. Just sayin’.
I always enjoy your content. I have to say the flag at the end was my favorite part of this one!
The Money Pit was one of the funniest movies of all time.
..."two weeks!" hahaha 😂
id do it to protext the furnace from the dust, yes dust will be in the ducts
Subscribed finally

it's good to see that you are all -- ahem -- fired up.
🙄
Okay, subscribed for the warm and fuzzies and dad jokes
Just curious, did you rabbit out your baseboards to recieve the wainscoting or just laid it on top and caulk?
Mark you mentioned taking a few doors down… did it happen to be exactly 3 doors down?
"A therapist's office in a prison"--that cracked me up.
Antenna yes, TV maybe. That antenna mast (and the antenna on top of it) was for the VHF dispatch radios the Fire Department would have used.
To get TV he would need a digital antenna. All broadcast is digital now.
And the cable that Mark called "CB radio" was also probably for the dispatch radios.
It was definitely a tv antenna.
I burst out laughing when you said “we aren’t leveling the floors because this isn’t a house”! I live in a 112 year old house; nothing is level or plumb! We just do a lot of scribing.

Wow, what a face lift! What’s wrong with laminate in a shop bathroom? I probably would have done carpet, but you do you.
All is great here, but the flag was the cherry on top. Thank you for that.
Great video. I like rehabbers why have a sense of humor. I don’t have an issue with the laminate floor, however why was a standard toilet bowl installed instead of an elongated bowl like the old one? Elongated bowls offer more ball room for yous guys.
Because I'm an idiot and picked the wrong one. Jason installed it and I didn't even realize until it was already in place. Also I have small balls.
Love it!
Surprised no salute your shorts jokes at the end
how did the ota tv work out?
Still getting used to you without the beard. Makes you look Younger! Might want to keep it this way.
I notice you have a Drobo, as do I. What are you planning to do about the incompatibility issue with the forthcoming MacOS 13?
Probably just get another standard RAID box.
What model is your Homeright paint sprayer? Do you have a video about your sit-stand desk?
Loctite makes a construction adhesive that's tacky right away. It's called Powergrab or Fastgrab or something like that. It sounds like a gimmick, but it works really well for stuff like this.
That's what we used. :)
The flag is the wrong size for that flag poll, the flag is undersized. You can find a key that will tell you what size flag you need for the size of the poll you have on the internet or if you buy a new flag there should be a key on the packaging.
How many doors did you take down?
wear your moon suit man
Love the Flag.
We used laminate in our kitchen, you won't hear me complain.
Safety eventually 😂
🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
I also refer to my bathroom as 'the office'…
thumbs up just for the caulk jokes
Is this your brother in law Jason? Back in the biz or just helping out?
That is....and he's working for us again. Hopefully for good.
why not just a new building
I'd be so worried about being exposed to all these chemicals. Be careful out there buddy!
😅
I hope your Drobo is backed up and not a sole source of backup. I have had 2 fail on me and one of them is completely not recoverable! I wouldnt trust a drobo product for anything anymore!
One backup is not a backup. ;)
@@woodwhisperer 3-2-1 strategy: 3 copies, on 2 different types of media, 1 stored offsite.

At that point the moldings, cabinets, drywall, are all damaged anyways and the floor is your last issue. Thats what insurance is for!
Maybe his aim is not too good.
Seriously, a wood shop full of men and you did NOT choose the elongated toilet bowl?? 🙄
Hola! 🖐Love the video, you packed a lot into it. That hornet's nest freaked me out!!!😨😵🐝 I hoped you CAULKED the hell out of that penetration. "Safe, clean, and attractive"... sounds like a dating app profile!
You should not use laminate in a bathroom!
laminate has come a long way and you can get waterproof... I think Marc knows what he's doing
What's wrong with laminate in a bathroom with out a shower? Just stop peeing on the floor and it won't get wet.
Love your channel but man your innuendo jokes are cringe😂
It may not be perfect, but the back end of the shop is now safe for habitation. By the way, I know some of you are going to want the Harry Pooping painting so here's a link:
