The body cam video from the police came out a couple days ago. The woman who exposed herself was nuts. The cop was great but his hands were tied because hes enforcement not a lawmaker.

Some real ignorance here. Yes, in Oregon you are allowed to walk around without clothes. It's been like that for a very long time. Every year, a group of cyclists ride through Eugene completely nude. However, this has nothing at all to do with the police. The cops don't write the laws, they can only enforce them. What do you expect this officer to do? His hands are legally tied. The man did not violate any laws. Is it right that the law allows this to happen? No. Of course not, but that officer is not responsible for what the legislature does. I looked into this law and I have to agree with you. The comments I'm seeing on here don't make sense. The officer clearly stated the exact circumstance in which the neighbor would break the law. According to the story, the neighbor didn't cross that line, with the exception of trespassing on private property. The officer acknowledges the law and can't do anything in the realm of arresting or detaining the neighbor. I personally believe that it's against the morals of many Americans but the state laws and politicians are supposed represent the people. The police officer is supposed to enforce the law for the people. Sorry for the spiel.

What I was saying is that the officer could not take action because the legislature repealed the law prohibiting indecent exposure. Law enforcement officers cannot enforce laws that are no longer "on the books." It's an issue with those who pass the laws and the consequences of those votes.

There is no such thing as a “criminal justice system”; that implies some moral righting of wrongs in a subjective universe. There is a legal system. I saw the officer's body cam and the officer said he doesn't agree with it, but it is not illegal in Oregon, the officer also said that there are completely nude men that jog/run right down through town in nothing but running shoes. You can't blame the officers for the lack of laws.
And the guy in the video mellowed his video down, on the officer's body cam that guy told the officers they were "worthless F'ing Pigs" because they couldn't arrest the lady that was walking, and is known by them to walk around the neighborhood naked. It's not illegal there, so the officer can't arrest her.
