Daugavpils has expanded for 2 km it's tram line opening a line 5 and restructuring line 3 and 3a, aswell modernizing the whole entire network (Daugavpils is 2nd longest tram network in baltics infront of tallinn!)
Man, i am extremely not sold with the justification they use for battery trams. Expensive capital investment once vs more expensive vehicles forever...and what theyre ugly? Oh please. That polish station at the end is beautiful.
I think these trams will have a combination of battery and normal pantograph and will only partially run on batteries. The argument about the cost of the network also seemed weird to me, but they are using it.
Definitely looking forward to the Y-line for Poland. Trains here in Poland (am visiting here on vacation, today going from Wroclaw back to Krakow) are decent but train yesterday from Katowice to Wroclaw was packed.
By the way, I don't know how it is now, but the Polish railroad used to be very unstable in keeping schedules, probably because of all these large-scale reconstructions. I hope it has improved now.
@@cityforall in the most cases is some icdents or problems with old railstock. After 15 years of rebulding all country we already deal with synchornisation :D My train get 10 min late because another train late. And after 1h/100 km we came to station 1 min before :D
Riga has launched finally low floor trams on newly overhauled line 7 and on line 5, line 7 will recieve an extension aswell a new tram line to Ziepniekkalns is planned, on line 1 modernisation works have started and first 2 new stations have been opened in dammes street and kurzemes prospect.
Great summary of this week's news! Lisbon just received the first of several metro cars this week, the ML200. They are supposed to start operating in the begining of 2025
@@cityforall the monodirectional version exist in turin is tram 8000 and in local news like newspaper the renjdering of new tram but i know is difficult search the local news because every city have a local newspaper or other.
Was it really impossible for power to go onto the rails themselves rather than on catenaries? Would give the same power reliability instead on betting on the shiny new thing.
In principle, some cities use such a system with a third contact rail, for example, in Bordeaux, but I guess it is much more expensive and difficult to maintain. It is very important there that only a part of the contact rail directly under the wagon is energized at all times, otherwise pedestrians will be electric shocked. Also, this system is probably not very suitable for countries with snowy winters.

Atleast they are still trams, istanbul municipility debating about replacing some trams with crrc art units.
More expensive in production and usage, and less environmentally friendly. Yes its BS
It's because the Ministry of Culture won't let the City just hang wires in some areas of the city centre, I'm afraid.

Will there be a new route for the new battery trams in Florence? Or will they just use them to remove the catenary in the City Center?
I don't have such information
so you do want me to try and translate the video.
Maybe next time, when there will be a Spanish language episode
