In an experiment using photographs of male human faces, scientists discovered horses can distinguish between angry and happy faces. Report by Victoria Laurence.
Hey Nalanta ook hier :D Volgens mij was het nog niet "scientifically proven" om zeker te zijn dat paarden dit konden, maar 90% van de paarden liefhebbers weet wel dat dit klopt.
When I had a bad day, or I’m stressed or sad for something, I usually go to the riding club where my horse is, I ride him, and I don’t know how, but every single negative emotion goes away. Is something that I can’t explain, but it’s something beautiful
Thank you for sharing that, as well as everyone else. I've been over the top severely stressed for 7 yrs now & has affected my health. My son also suffers from debilitating anxiety. Come spring we both will be looking for horse therapy wherever we can find it. Screw the so called useless Doctors
+Sole Meyo You post, up, when the horses outside leg is forward, then you sit when it comes back. I'm the video she was posting up when the horses leg was back and sitting when the horses leg was in front when trotting
most animals can understand human emotions not just by how you look but by body language and energy. they can sense if your sad mad or realxe. for example if you approch a skiddh horse stright he will read that as a challenge and might back of but if you apporch no really paying attention or servw aroudn he might stay and let you apporch. also jusy how a dog comes to comfort you when your sad or the way a protection dog and sense if a person mean harm or not all animals are very smart :)
This stupidity just pisses me off. These guys didn't even say WHY. It's because they're prey animals; if they don't make up their mind on an emotion and react accordingly, they'd die.
Well, that’s _one_ theory. Another is that many animals are social animals, which involves communication, verbally and bodily. Predator animals don’t necessarily show emotion when hunting prey - mostly animals that are signaling that they feel threatened do.
I was at a stable, and I was really sad because at the time I thought I wasn’t going to get to do my last day of camp, and at the time I was close to tears, and the horses just stuck their heads inside the barn, they have a gate that leads straight from the barn to the pasture, and just put their heads beside me, and being with them made me feel a lot better when I was sad and stressed. Every moment I’m away from them is physically painful for me. I miss them so much, but my family isn’t involved with horses, so I don’t get to ride or even see them much. I’m going to own a few someday tho!
Owning horses are very expensive but I hope you get too! I haven't been near a horse for a few years sadly. I absolutely love them but same here, not a horse family.
ain't surprised knew about it long time don't need t scientist or studies to show how I can connect with my horses. I trained this paint I got a year ago that was Green like didn't want to be ridden now I can ride him tackless takes time and patience and when a horse has a strong bond with his or her rider nothing can ever break that.
As my first experience with horses I had fear but not with the horses, more of fear of the motion of the horse,’s gait and I’m autistic. One horses having tears and my instructor asked the horse not to cry. I felt deep inside the sadness and would come home crying after horsebackridijng but unable to describe this to anyone other horses had sililaiar feelings. I’m very happy that I’m not alone in that horses having feeling like this I noticed. 40 years ago This even as a child. I feel I need to be around them more because life is harder now.
Nikki does that with me all the time. She comes & gives me hugs when I c her. She lives in our pasture (with small stable when she wants. Even if I don't ride that day I'll go out 2 her pasture & just sit watching all of the 🐎
These are some beautiful horses. I had a stroke in 2018 and lost the use of my left side I started equine therapy a couple of years ago the horse I ride every week is very zen and calming he is a pretty chestnut quarter horse named Lucky. I also get to spend quality time with him it helps calm me.
Lol! When I was eight I could tell someone's temper by how my Arab reacted. He ended up flattening one man because this guy tried to halter him without introducing himself. Thunder ended up leaping on him and cracking a rib. I went up 15 minutes later and haltered him... Always introduce yourself properly to a new horse, especially if you're in a bad mood!
They can almost feel, or sense your mood. I have a horse that's extra sensitive. I walked into her pen, and she reared away from me. I guess I was just tense, and moving in a dominate way or something.
One thing I've learned is if I approach a horse confident the horse stays calm and doesn't worry! If I approach a horse timid and sneaky, the horse gets scared/nervous and it will cause fear in the horse, and that could cause someone (or the horse) to get hurt. I'm sorry if I didn't explain my comment better!
The thing that put me off at the end is that the girl was on the wrong diagonal while trotting, and the fact that she even started to canter. no person should canter without learning how to stay and fix their diagonals.
When my barn sold my favorite horse they made me ride another horse named Dixie and I was crying and she was calm the entire lessons and she rest her head on my shoulders
They mirror us. They see right through lies, through masks. It can be really frustrating and confrontational. Though instead of listening to what horses (animals) try to say it us. People take it as a personal insult and call the horse “difficult” or “nasty”. A horse has great emotional intellegence. I really don’t know what this bs about animals not knowing emotions is. All animals have them, most animals can feel others, some animals can respond to them. The animal world is based on energy. If you are calm and relaxed you will get a simmilair response.
I was riding one on vacation one time and I could read the horse and had discernment it didn't trust me at first I think and than when I was riding it I felt a connection with it and then it started going faster than the trainer and then I started getting uncomfortable because it probably read my soul and then started rushing so fast I thought I was gonna fall off and break my neck he probably thought I was going into battle how fast he was running
0:08 That horse has possibly just inspired a legitimate phobia within me of horses. At first I thought it's eye looked creepy, then I started realizing the horses head compared to ours, size and shape, is like a human head from a horror film. Now I think I am scared of horses...
I'm not surprised my pony knows what I feel at all times he knows when I'm in a good mood because he try's to push his luck by backing up into me to get a bum scratch and when I'm upset he hugs me when I'm angry he is quiet and will do anything I tell him
in the uk we ride differently to the USA, I've ridden western quite a bit when I've been over in the US but i'm a show jumper and it's obviously very different to how y'all ride! :)
Look at Arabian horses, they are so intelligent they follow battle tactics to an extent and are so loyal many would die after their owner falls in battle or dies normally.
Lol, they needed to test that? When you normally ride a horse if you are nervous the horse gets nervous, if you are calm they are also calm. Its not hard to figure out
im pretty sure any animal understands angry and happy if a lion is snarling in anger you can clearly see their angry face and i'm sure other species of animal see it too
It's a shame humans treat horses like dirt. And as bad as we are to horses we are even worse to cattle which can do all of the same things when it comes to,reading emotions.
Similar studies have shown dogs can do much the same, which makes sense given our shared history. This is very interesting and shows how interlinked out relationship has been. I imagine if you found some wild horses they would not be capable of what the descendents of domesticated horses can do.
Of course they can understand us because we all are from earth! And even animals have there own languages and they even ask god to make you love them If you were nice to them! And horses in Islam have the first place as animals because of how gorgeous they are
every horse person read the title and went "Well, duh!" :P
I know right XD
Yep 😂
Pre. Much
yup I did atleast
AmandaIsNotAPanda YESSS
Ofcourse they do, you don't need research for that.
yes the horse people already knew this , its like no duh lol ;)
Hey Nalanta ook hier :D Volgens mij was het nog niet "scientifically proven" om zeker te zijn dat paarden dit konden, maar 90% van de paarden liefhebbers weet wel dat dit klopt.
AlwaysHorseLove yep basicly
AlwaysHorseLove #loveyourchannel always Horse love
Maybe For the people who don't know that, don't think that you know everything
I read this title and was like "Wow. people really don't give animals credit" smh. we're all connected.
When I had a bad day, or I’m stressed or sad for something, I usually go to the riding club where my horse is, I ride him, and I don’t know how, but every single negative emotion goes away. Is something that I can’t explain, but it’s something beautiful

Oh my god the woman riding is on the wrong diagonal the whole time
Ikr I was watching, and the whole time I was thinking "are you going to change it" lol nope I guess not
+Sole Meyo You post, up, when the horses outside leg is forward, then you sit when it comes back. I'm the video she was posting up when the horses leg was back and sitting when the horses leg was in front when trotting
+Sole Meyo No problem :)
Izzy Letterii only we would notice that
Izzy Letterii that was annoying me so much!! I was about to comment that. I get really annoyed by the wrong diagonal and wrong leads😂😂
Water is also wet.
Ramen Time lol
a new study has shown?
Ramen Time Water isn’t wet: ruclips.net/video/y-FdvzdL86A/видео.html
The sky is also blue
Can i just say the horse being ridden is beautiful
A horse that beautiful doesnt deserve an awner that rides it on the wrong diagonal... ON THE NEWS! lol its a joke please dont get mad at mw
OMG WELL DONE YOU FOUND OUT HORSES HAVE EMOTIONS 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🙄👏👏
Naughty_ Pony that's not what the study was for lol
Naughty_ Pony- lol the study was for figuring out if horses can read our emotions!! Haha though thanks for the good laugh, sarcasm is always fun :)
i would have a horse in my house rather than a dog
dogs can see spirits
+47thelementvisuals And so can horses. Both dogs, cats, horses, etc. have much different eyes then humans.
+47thelementvisuals yea right.. 😏
Shaun Pinto same
Luna Coolwolf yeah or get bucked off😑 or even get bucked i got😑

Ayo thx bro
I didn't know
Well, that’s _one_ theory. Another is that many animals are social animals, which involves communication, verbally and bodily. Predator animals don’t necessarily show emotion when hunting prey - mostly animals that are signaling that they feel threatened do.
I remember when I had a bad day.......before I left the stable of my horse, he nudged me as if he was going to hug me. I love him so much
😍
One time when I was really stressed and upset my horse would come up to me and rest his head on my shoulder. he was acting like a little parrot
😍😍
When the horse was trotting she was on the wrong diagnial 😊 OMG if your gonna be on the news at least perform better!!
diagonal*
Omg you are going to be on the news for the worst speller! Fuck off mate
I'm more annoyed by the horses head position. At least give him some rein so he can stretch and not cramp his back..
You can't even spell you're
+Beck Styles there are 2 different yours I write your but then there is also this one you're
shes on the wrong diagonal js 😂 no hate
Valentine Ro What is a diagonal...
Cocowillow2 AJ When you are in time with the horses step
Toriel Undertale Neat, thanks.
Toriel Undertale no... If you're on the right diagonal, you should be rising in posting trot when your horse's outside front leg goes forward...
my-welsh-cob Flynn
That's a fancy sentence for what I said, I worded it badly geez.
Well done, you find out horses have emotions. Do you know water is also wet? 🙄👏👏👏👏
IamSelena.x the study was done to show horses can recognize human emotions not that horses have emotions.
Every time I’m sad, my horse comes up to me and hugs me with her head and neck, it’s cute
ain't surprised knew about it long time don't need t scientist or studies to show how I can connect with my horses. I trained this paint I got a year ago that was Green like didn't want to be ridden now I can ride him tackless takes time and patience and when a horse has a strong bond with his or her rider nothing can ever break that.
Even I know this and I've only been around horses a total of 4-5 times!
Well of course they can.
Horses have been with us for a very very long time. Generations after generations.
Nikki does that with me all the time. She comes & gives me hugs when I c her. She lives in our pasture (with small stable when she wants. Even if I don't ride that day I'll go out 2 her pasture & just sit watching all of the 🐎
Shyfillie cool

This isn't a new thing, they have always been this way...
Lol! When I was eight I could tell someone's temper by how my Arab reacted. He ended up flattening one man because this guy tried to halter him without introducing himself. Princess Stardust Eclipse Ouch!
They can almost feel, or sense your mood. I have a horse that's extra sensitive. I walked into her pen, and she reared away from me. I guess I was just tense, and moving in a dominate way or something.
When I'm sad, my horse does a really cute face and it always cheers me up ❤️
That first horse was really beautiful
One thing I've learned is if I approach a horse confident the horse stays calm and doesn't worry! If I approach a horse timid and sneaky, the horse gets scared/nervous and it will cause fear in the horse, and that could cause someone (or the horse) to get hurt. Horses truly are amazing. Of course horses pick up on the human emotions! Horses can do loads more than a lot of people give them credit for.
I don't have a horse, but I do agree they make your bad day turn better and they do have a special bond with there owners or riders
Awwwwwww!!😍😍😍😍😍😍
I love that the only time they show someone riding she is in the wrong diagonal
Какие же они пушистые😍!!!

The animal world is based on energy.
If you are calm and relaxed you will get a simmilair response.
I've always thinking how they feel when human riding them into a battle and get kill by human try to get someone else land.

Every single horseback rider “uhhhh? Duh???”
I'm not surprised my pony knows what I feel at all times he knows when I'm in a good mood because he try's to push his luck by backing up into me to get a bum scratch and when I'm upset he hugs me when I'm angry he is quiet and will do anything I tell him
😍😍
"Angry faces caused there heart rates to rise signifigantly" 😢😢😢😢😢😢
Oh my gosh! At the end, the girl in the red was posting off her feet! You post with your knees! Poor Horse!
in the uk we ride differently to the USA, I've ridden western quite a bit when I've been over in the US but i'm a show jumper and it's obviously very different to how y'all ride! :)
we post with our hips in the UK so if you lose a stirrup you can still ride the same
The Sky is blue. Water is wet
Look at Arabian horses, they are so intelligent they follow battle tactics to an extent and are so loyal many would die after their owner falls in battle or dies normally.
And there are still humans who really think that animals don't have emotions.. sad.
Both dogs and horses can read us, and we can also easily read them. It is because we have evolved and been together for a long time.
She was on the wrong diagonal! Lol 😂
0:12 The horse be like "You know damn right I can. Now get your ridiculous camera off my precious face before I bite it."
Ya'll going on about the diagonal... I'm annoyed she asked the horse to canter from rising trot.
Why do RUclips minutes pass by so fast but when I'm heating up my food it takes an eternity
Yes of course. They are incredibly emotional.
Lol, they needed to test that? When you normally ride a horse if you are nervous the horse gets nervous, if you are calm they are also calm. Its not hard to figure out
Lol, the horse was about to bug in the end of the video.
that horse at da end of day video looms like a horse called monty where i go horse riding
im pretty sure any animal understands angry and happy
if a lion is snarling in anger you can clearly see their angry face and i'm sure other species of animal see it too
Oh I believe it. my horse helped me up when I fell of and got knocked out for a few mins
Horses can read male emotions. The human race can't read female emotions, so we can't expect horses to either!
I'm pretty sure dogs can do the same thing
It's a shame humans treat horses like dirt. And as bad as we are to horses we are even worse to cattle which can do all of the same things when it comes to,reading emotions.
That last horse I s a beauty
the horse's heart rate accelerate depends of expression human emotion showing knowledge what the people feeling.
people have scientifically proven that since hans the horse in the 1800s but it's good to know for sure that that fact holds up
My great granmother always told my granmother that horses can read human emotion this has just proved her right
Very true. They can tell your emotions.
yeah when I ride my horse senses my fear and panic
I had a pony named Pudding and he never got along with me because of the previous owner who mistreated him
ladyyuna2000 sad :(
Omg they ‘feel’ it before they see it!!! 🤨
Similar studies have shown dogs can do much the same, which makes sense given our shared history. This is very interesting and shows how interlinked out relationship has been. I imagine if you found some wild horses they would not be capable of what the descendents of domesticated horses can do.
I,,have,,always,,loved,,horses,,and,,they,,do,,know,,when,,you,,hurt,,snd,,sad😎😁😘😊😚😄😃
My brother, my brother, and me brought me here.
God is Wonderful!
I knew that the day I started riding
You figured this out in 2016?!? And us horse people knew this way before!!
Already known with the horse "Clever " Hans
In other news, the sky is blue and the sun is warm
Don't make your bad day an issue for the horse, sort yourself out at least a little bit beforehand.
And people say horses are dumb.........THEY ARE NOT DUMB IF THEY CAN READ EMOTIONS
Leave these people and their diagonals alone. They are trying to recover from more serious problems.
1:13 wrong diagnol 😂
horses can't see straight in front, there eyes are on the side of their head, so they can't even see the pictures put in front of them?
WRONG DIAGONAL THAT KILLED ME OMG
the girl at 1:07 is on the wrong posting diagonal
She is on the wrong diagonal
It was always very obvious to us equestrians!
Lol I am a member at ebony horse club and I love splash the skewbald cob with the Mohawk (not the black one)
This isn't a new thing. This is something that horses could do for years.
Of course they can understand us because we all are from earth! And even animals have there own languages and they even ask god to make you love them If you were nice to them! And horses in Islam have the first place as animals because of how gorgeous they are
And water is wet...
TDLBallistic Please don't like your own comment Water isn't wet it's a scientific proof also water is wet when it gets on someone or something
TDLBallistic By my calculations I say you're not taking the video seriously.
Lord, cracks me up. Imagine that! Lol
In related news, scientists discover that water is wet.
Why are the manes of these horses being cut?
1:10 she's trotting on the wrong leg
So can dogs
That girl at the end was on the wrong leg now that would make a horse angry😡
Jesus Christ... she's on the wrong diagonal
Well, how do they react to a person who has "resting bitch face", but isn't feeling angry?
Obviously haha, horses tend to tense up if you're not confident when riding, they can sense things like that
Aren't those photos placed in their blind spot?
