Great interview with lots of excellent advice. Yes to more straight talk and healthy down time for our teens, boys and girls.
Whoever talks about giving kaf zechus to a known offender doesn't know enough about the term. Torah is the true life manual and instructs when to give benefit of doubt and when not. When to be respectful yet self protective.
Gershon himself recognizes that and agrees it will be a lifelong challenge. I appreciate his level of honesty, all things considered

This Dr was fantastic! I appreciate his unbiased opinion and speaking so much about our community and how to teach our children about healthy terminology for anatomy and boundaries with adults around them. He did not keep referring to Gershon he spoke of pedophiles in general. Great tips for parents to put into practice. An alcoholic is always an alcoholic regardless of whether they ever take a drink again. it is the same for these abusers. The one thing I wish we would have touched on in all of these videos is whether he was abused himself and the likelihood of abuse victims as young children abusing others as children and then it carrying on into adulthood. It’s not an excuse but I feel it plays a relevant role.

I think that not only do we need to teach about body boundaries, but we also need to better educate about what is and is not lishon harah. That is a reason it seems quite often used in the frum community NOT to report and inform when someone is known to be dangerous.

No one can know what is in a person's heart, I don't know if these experts realize that no one in out community has ever come out so publicly and what the consequences will be for him, for me this shows that he has changed. Again, he himself says he is still a problem and has many boundaries for it, do you can't trust him around kids without boundaries but I think he is sorry and means it.

    • @PJump

His name was publicized as a pedo since 2015. Not exactly coming out publicly. Although the in depth interview was interesting, despite all the excuses he said to justify his criminal actions. He probably focused on the good that may come about from the interview and how it will spread awareness.
That doesnt mean he has changed or is "fixed", it means he did some bad stuff, and he did some good stuff. That isnt a contradiction. Someone isnt simply completely good or completely bad. They choose at each moment what they will do. And this guy (or others like him) can reoffend in an instant (high risk). Stay safe, be cautious. Keep our kids safe.

    • @mweiss505
      @mweiss505 Год назад +1

@PJump he himself knows that he is a danger for kids that's why he has all these boundaries.

@@PJump he it trying to justify his disgusting behavior.
He says openly that he's still attracted to young kids..
His excuses for becoming a pedophile is even more sick .
Going to the mikvah at age 3...... So What!!!!!
NOT getting sex from your wife 24/7 !!!!!! So what? We all have the same issues. Do we all turn to molestation when our wives are a nidah????
Lame excuses. He's trying to play the victim while still being a pedophile.
BTW. Even after state regulated rehab, he's still the same. Rehab did nothing for him.

He didn't once apologize and constantly justified his actions by minimizing and distancing. I still think this guy has A LONG way to go in terms of accepting responsibility and who he is and that is a sexual predator. These people can be quite deceitful and that shows because they are able to get close to their victims. I think in some parts he was telling the truth and other you could tell he was hiding. Look up Louisiana parole hearings and you will find many sexual predators when they go up to the parole board and watching these videos, I learn much more than this fake money grab of an interview. I guess according to the logic of your argument of him being pubic I guess if someone kills another human being and publicly apologizes for it then we should just set him free, and everything is okay. This dude should have been locked up; he has affected the life of multiple victims forever who will always have this tragic traumatic experience which has changed their brain and now they must be able to learn how to survive and cope with this. Good for him for trying to better himself but his victims will forever have to live with this, and he needs much more time than 10 years to think that he has this under control. We need 25 to life mandatory for sexual predators.

19:00 this is example. This expert is mature enough to draw understanding about the case of Gershon in odrder to prevent from happening to other individuals. But interviewer is merely focused on demonizing the Gershon. It is pure ignorance and impatience and disrespect to Gershon. At least if you requested abd invited him, you cabt disrespect the person even if he committed crime upon others. It is nit your job to bring your own justice. It seems clear that this comedian wanted to embarrass and shame gershon the abuser. In that manner, you can do nothing. You wont be able to see another person committing same around you nor can you protect anyone from being done the same. Overall if this comedian did not invite this expert, interview with gershon is not even worthy to have been made.

Now we are just playing he said, she said and putting opinions on top of opinions.
Let's not focus on the messenger or give him attention. Let's focus on the message. That's what matters

So, I haven't seen anyone say it, but I'm pretty confident that Gershon is on the autism spectrum. My father-in-law, my wife, and my oldest sign are all on the spectrum, and they just have this very matter of fact way about the world. Being on the spectrum doesn't make anyone an abuser, but I think it would make it much harder for Gershon to understand social cues and what was appropriate and inappropriate.
I am NOT excusing any of his actions at all, BUT I am saying that some of the really odd mannerisms and phrases I think (And this is just my anecdotal evidence) he's on the autism spectrum and that's just how he sees the world. His odd mannerisms I don't think are because he's an abuser.
That being said, I do think his life would have been dramatically easier if he had a functional outlet for his sexual urges as a kid. He's clearly hypersexual, and you can either put that energy into something, or you can go insane.
