As well as being released as a live musical album (rather than a conventional studio album, of which DM had already released 6 by this stage), it was also released as a documentary film that focused upon a few (up to 10 of them, at a guess - it's been many years since I last watched it) fans that had won a competition to travel together by coach across the US, culminating in DM's 101st & final show of this tour, to be held at the Rose Bowl, in California & featuring live performances of all of the songs from the "101" album throughout the doco' film...
So, keep in mind, this is the LONGEST tour Depeche Mode has ever done, pretty stunning for a band that has now been at it for 40+ years. And to top that, this was the LAST show of 130 performances! Boggles my mind how they could have any energy at all, much less this fantastic performance.
