That was a monumental task and you aced it! Whenever you’re doing home improvement it’s always a moment where it’s a point of no return and then it starts feeling like you’re never gonna get done. But once it’s done, that level of satisfaction is so rewarding. Did the manufacturer tell you to put any silicone caulk around the frame on the roof. It’s just an extra level of protection because while you’re traveling with driving rain, water has a way of just finding places to seep. But your installation looks fabulous.!

Come time for me to renovate and create a van build I think I would take the back wi dow out and put a fan or ac unit..sure would be better than having a lraking roof in the future. With the back at leaat it would be eaaier to seal up and stuff. Id be terrified to drill any holes in the roof. Good luck!
To everybody that watches this video about roof fan installations😮 I made the mistake of purchasing the butyl tape on Amazon that had the best reviews and the most number of thumbs up😮 that was a huge huge mistake as what's the temperature started to heat up past summer the butyl tape dripped down the inside walls of the fan onto the van floor😮 turns out you're supposed to use butyl tape that is purchased at a auto parts store that is meant specifically to install windshields😮 it is the windshield butyl tape that you want to purchase😮😮😮 otherwise don't go in temperatures above 60😂 live and learn thank goodness my ceiling is easy to keep an eye on and get into and I'll be able to keep an eye on the dripping has there seems no way to stop it😂
In all the videos I've watched over the past 3 years I've never heard or seen anyone mention anything like you just described regarding melting/dripping butyl tape. 😮 I installed my fan this week and the temperatures have been well over mid to high 90s here in Maryland. I'll monitor my install to see if anything like you described occurs. Dubious. 🤔😏
@@johnbroystonjr23 temperatures went up a week ago and it's now dripping again or should I say still . My local victron dealer happens to also have a van build-out company and he's the one that mentioned when I showed him the drips oh didn't you get the kind that's rated for windshields and high temperatures. Thankfully I had a tube extra of sikaflex and he put an extra bead around both fans because I have two of them. That was a year ago and then last week he was up there doing some adjusting on a solar panel am I asked him to look around the edges of the fan and everything still looked good on the outside but meanwhile it's dripping on the inside again. I haven't slid the inside trim pieces in yet because I'm not quite done with the ceiling but the goop that's dripping out is real close to that channel that the trim piece is supposed to slide into time will tell live and learn
You will be surprised as to what you can do once you get past the fear, good job! By the way, we know that you quit the security job, what about the other two jobs?

Make sure you use some type of Silicone sealant on top of your van to prevent any leaking.
