The guy he bought it from told him this is a 426 hemi the car even had 426 hemi badges but he took them off. He later got it looked at from a shop and they said it's a cammed 6.1 ported and polished heads.

I have videos on my channel of my old tuned Scat racing my buddies 5.7 based 392 stroker which is cammed and full bolt on and he still lost we have multiple races. It's a 5.7 based 6.1 stroker.
Your stock 6.1 does not keep up with stock 6.4s. We have proven this on my channel the 392 is superior in almost every way. The only thing nice about the 6.1 it's forged from the factory. If you do bolt ons and tune sure they can. But not stock

My challenger 2008 SRT8 6.1 keeps up and beat most 6.4 the 300 SRT8 not same motor in challenger SRT8 mine slightly modified 540whp

A stock 6.1 is rated at 425hp at the crank, that’s correct. Neither one of these is stock though, so it’s not apples to apple.
