Why does the West even participate? They’re only interested in colonization when they engage with the world. Military deals, not climate negotiations.

The countries polluting the air more should pay more of course.

It is very unethical to tell poor countries not to get richer using the same means that got the West rich. The growth of the global south countries should not be limited until the West has completely stopped using fossil fuels

It is unethical to leverage the USA to cripple their economy for no reason. We cannot change climate cycles.

Well, they blame the west for everything. We already send then TONS of money and then they use it to send drugsdealers, rapists to our countries and blame us for everything that goes wrong in the world... We are tired of this. Enogh is enough. Go fix your own problems and dont beg for our help while you stab us in the back.

Where there is no gratitude, there will be no pity.
The 'global South' isn't getting 'richer' the same way that developed nations got 'richer' Current developed societies grew based on their own technological advancements and societal accomplishments. The 'global South's' primary driver of growth is access to technology and financing from developed nations such as the USA and Japan.
The West is the primary factor pulling 'poor' nations out of poverty. The narrative that the 'global South' is a victim is diametrically opposed to reality. They are the beneficiaries of accomplishments not their own. Cars, computers, the internet, phones, satellites, electricity etc.
These nations are only in 'poverty' relative to the most developed nations. They are not in poverty relative to historical norms.

@ only a handful of people were responsible for technological advancements. I disagree that the entire peoples of the western countries can take credit for it. Yet, they all enjoy the benefits of such advancements at the expense of our global environmental health. Therefore, they need to take responsibility for it and be the drivers of a decline in CO2 emissions.

I agree we should not tell them how to get richer. Leave them alone. Completely, do not trade, bank, supply food, communications (phones, etc.). They can make their own decisions and the consequences are their own.

How much of this climate fund will go towards salaries/administrative costs?
China’s GDP per capita (US$13k in 2023) is less than half that of Portugal (US$27k in 2023). I’m happy if China just goes coal-free on its own dime in the next 20-30 years. China should give direct aid to poorer countries-if Chinese construction workers are building a hospital/school etc., I’m sure they can find the money to donate some solar panels to cover the roof and solar-powered street lights. But none of the donations should go towards paying the US$100k/year salary of someone in Washington or Brussels.

Global population should be smaller, and developing countries should also stop growing their populations -- that'd solve the climate problem among other things.

Countries that got rich from selling oil and gas should do it: Russia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iran, etc...And the biggest polluters like China and India.
China allone is making 1 or 2 coal plants every week! Can you imagine the pollution!! And then they claim to not be a developped country and done, they dont have to pay... Meanwhile they are the 2nd largest economy in the world and make a shitload of money.. makes no sense at all... We are being scammed and taken advantage of, again. Our leaders need to grow a backbone and make a stand.

Rich nations should invest more money for climate finance, which is more cost effective than the amount of money paid for repairing climate disasters.
