  • Rogue Hoe 70HR Review - The Best Trail Building Tool Ever!
    Ditch the McLeod if you have one (or definitely don't buy one) - buy a Rogue Hoe 70HR - it's way better. Really good for trail building in New England dirt.

    Great review. Exactly what I was looking for in a review. Liked the lesson on not prying with round handle tools. Never heard that one before. Good info!

      Any reason to choose the fiberglass handle over the wood one?

    • @MTBIKEXC
      @MTBIKEXC  4 года назад +2

      Eric Q I frequently leave my tools in the woods for weeks on end (buried under leaves) so I don’t have to carry them up every time I work on a trail. I think wood would deteriorate.

    I'm getting ready to buy one of these but the soil I'm dealing with isn't nearly as stubborn as that. Leads me to believe it'll make my job quick and easy compared to using a pulaski, hoe, rake, and tamper.

    Great review Brad! Which length handle is yours?

    • @MTBIKEXC
      @MTBIKEXC  4 года назад

      Scott King 54” fiberglass.

      Doh! I guessed wrong and ordered the 48”. I’m sure it’ll work fine though.

    Thanks for this review! Getting ready to tackle some trails on our property and am planning on picking up one of these as well as the 70AR. Aside from height (I'm 5'7") are there other considerations for handle length such as the steepness of the terrain?

    • @MTBIKEXC
      @MTBIKEXC  4 года назад

      I never really thought about that but I think you are correct. I'm 5'11" and find the handle length to be perfect. I imagine a shorter person or on steeper terrain you very well may need to choke up or could benefit from a shorter handle.

      @@MTBIKEXC Thank you! Will probably pick up one of each length.

      @@Ellion_vt I like the 54" for the 70HR so far, as well as the 48" for the Travis

    Try the Rogue Travis model, it is outstanding. Probably their best yet.

    So after some time do you still feel the same....anything you would want different....longer ..shorter axe handle??

    • @MTBIKEXC
      @MTBIKEXC  4 года назад +1

      I'm very happy with it and have built several smoother/semi-banked corners. Wouldn't change a thing. I would like to try the 70AR - it might dig better and cut roots better... Check out this guys video: ruclips.net/video/aeCjyGRpGe4/видео.html

      Here's a little update for you since I was using the hoe today for a small task, thought I'd make a video (love it that much): ruclips.net/video/OHSJ_Bao2_Y/видео.html

    The tool you called a Pulaski is actually called a McCleod. A Pulaski looks more like an fire axe/hoe combo.
