In fact he ended up singing more in Tamil than Telugu only because of the one and only music genius Ilayaraja. I'm not sure if you are aware. During 50s, 60, 70, and early 80s People making big banner in all the south Indian languages came to Madras (Now Chennai) because that was the hub of all the movie studios. So that is why since the late 60s SPB settled in Chennai and has bean living there till his unfortunate demise. Then of course from mid 80s all other south Indian states started having their own movie studios for their own language movies. If you see in this video it is mentioned 2000 songs. Those 2000 songs are only with Illayaraja.
SPB sir himself said so many times, no other state loved him as much as Karnataka did. He confrmd on weekend with Ramesh show on Zee kannada that his highest num of songs were in Kannada. He said he doesn't care what media says. Media might say I was born in Andhra, lived in Chennai but why so much love for Kannada people, but I don't care.. I want to be reborn in Karnataka as a Kannadiga...' These were his exact words.. 'Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi all people love me, but Kannadigas love me more than others', he said. Spb is a part of the culture of Karnataka.. His highest num of songs were in Kannada. Spb sir time and again called himself, the 'Adopted son of Karnataka'.. And to that adopted son, can't explain how much we miss u sir. You are the pride of Indian cinema. You are the Musical God of Indian Films. You are Karnataka's heart beat.. We will love u forever. @@nishanthakash I might agree with you on most parts because I guess it is hard to beat a Kannadiga in terms of hospitality. I've stayed in Bengaluru, Hubli, Karwad, Hospet and mostly Kannadigas are too good in treating other people. But I think as far a language is concerned he has sung the highest number in Tamil.

His highest num of songs were in Kannada confirmed by SPB himself in weekend with Ramesh and even karnataka govt in the assembly when tributes were given to spb confrmd the same. This was even mentioned during a serial recording that he was doing in his studio in Chennai. This came on udaya TV. In a discussion, the producer of the serial asked him if he sang 45k songs and he replied no.. It's nearing 40.. And Highest was in Kannada.. In Tamil and Telugu there was alternative. There were native singer. But in Kannada we had only spb.. Yes we did have rajkumar too.. But rajkumar sir mostly sang for himself. V rarely he sang for other heros. And again PBS was only kmown as voice of rajkumar until rajkumar himself started to sing. But otherwise it was only spb since 1967.. If u see old Tamil and Telugu films, when the title crd shows it would show 2 or 3 male singers and 2 or 3 female singer... But chck all old Kannada film titles, ull hardly see any male singer. Singers used to show as SPB and S Janaki, SPB and P susheela, SPB, Chitra so only female singers used to change. Spb was constant person. And anyway no discussion required when he himself has said it.
@@nishanthakash Oh! Ok. I was not knowing all these things. Great mate. I'm a Tamilian but a music lover of all other languages as well. I've heard lot of good songs in Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, of course Tamil but the only famous Kannada song I've heard as an outsider is Jothe Jotheyali. Not sure whether I've not heard Kannada songs or chart busting Kannada songs are less. I guess even Ilayaraja in his initial days was an assistant to G.K. Venkatesh the great Kannada music director before setting out as an independent music director.

Not true.. Even in his last felicitation in Feb 2020 on Gokak, Karnataka, he said, he became popular thru kannada films. In 1980s his interview in magazine Sudha, he clearly said, I am so busy singing in all languages, but kannada music is the best in South India.. That was his love for kannada

Even tamil and telugu industry biggies like K Balachander, K Viswanath etc spoke abt it. Suhasini Maniratnam even said the new wave in India first started with Kannada cinema even before Bengali and Malayalam. Kamal said, 'that was the time when our industry used to book a bus and come to bengaluru to watch films. We used to watch 3 kannada films a day and go back. Balachander sir used to com back and wonder how they make such brilliant films. He used to take that as a competition and make films'. Pushpaka vimana was actually a kannada film. But since it didn't have dialogues, it became a national film. Kannada cinema gave india its many firsts in terms of technology. First slow motion technology used in a sng in India, First underwater film in India etc. We produced films like Premaloka, Muthinhara in early 80s in a budget of 1.75 cr when tamil and telugu used to make 3 or 4 films in that budget. So first know facts and then comment kiddo. Bdw, the statement ' I am singing in all major Indian languages but Kannada music is the best in South India' was not by me. It was by SPB sir himself in 80s to a magazine called Sudha.. On fb ull find the article too. U may find it. I dont comment without facts. U need to grow up of u cant accept facts 😂
SPB himself said, his first fans are from Karnataka and love and recognition Kannada gave him, no othr language or state gave him. His son SPB CHARAN said, SPB wouldn't have been SPB if not for his Kannada songs and Kannada fans. He said Andhra was his birth place, TN was a land where he stayed, but Karnataka was his home that he grew up in. Kannadigas were the ones who brought him up. Pls learn facts and then comment.
