I've just bought my Brompton and love it! It always makes me smile a little when these promotional videos show the unfolding, which make the bike look to almost all snap into place and off you go! They fail to show the fiddly clamp tightening bits. It would be great if they actually unfolded and locked into place automatically and had a quick release mechanism for folding. Great bikes though!👌
I have the explorer edition. Great bike and super bag. I bromptonise every day since 10 years. Tip: put a beer Box în front for groceries shopping. Cheers from Romania :)
Ive just purchased a new M6L. I would not call it a bargain, but the fact it can fit inside the boot of my Mazda MX5 MD, was enough reason to buy it. What other bicycle can just about fit inside an MX5 ? not many. Their certainly over priced, but they are built to very high standards, so i suppose they represent decent value for money. Your paying for their portability, and very compact size when folded.
Plus the fact they are handmade, and handmade in the UK, which adds to the cost. I think k though if you want a bicycle, you buy a bicycle. If you want a culture, street cred and a lifestyle you buy brompton. :-)
@@pdacollinsgmail Thats certainly true, as the Brompton is very well manufactured. There were far cheaper alternatives, but it was the over all build quality of the Brompton, that convinced me to buy one.
There are so many details that add value to the Brompton: it fits under the table, in the trunk of your car, easy to bring in public transportation. Mine has saved me a serious amount of money in parking fees and gasoline tanks. Plus, it is FUN to ride! You got you money’s worth mister!
If you're in the U.S. check Craigslist at least once a day for listing within a reasonable drive from where you live. I just picked up a 2000 Brompton that way for $150. It needs a bit of work but is fully functional.
To those UK posters asking where one can buy one. I was in Evans Haven't recently who had a selection of about 5/6, including a Superlight and a Brompton Electric
Has anyone ever had difficulty getting their Brompton into places such as coffee shops or restaurants? A café employee recently instructed me to leave my folded bike outside the shop, which is located in front of a bus stop near the crowded market. I didn't bring a bicycle lock, and the coffee shop didn't have a secure bicycle parking area. I'm living in Thailand. Is it OK, for example, to bring a folded bike into a Starbucks and leave it at my seat? Finally, I decided to leave the shop because I couldn't bear the thought of leaving my bike outside unattended.
Although we can't speak for each individual location we've generally found that most places are accommodating to folding bikes so hopefully this was a one off
Now... How do I do that if you have no stock... :( I did rent one and it's great, although after Covid I'm over the max supported weight. Still. I do want one.

It helps me get to work on time every day since I'm able to fit it inside of public transportation rush hour. The price is great too, people are always shocked when they ask me how much I paid for the fold up and I tell them "200". It's easy to fold and installation when it ships is insanely easy. All you have to install when the bike arrives is one foot pedal, everything else is done for you. I do recommend you carry some sort of wrench to tighten any loose screws on the handle bar and seat whenever they get a little bit loose. Other than that I think it's a fantastic bike. Easily fits in the home, can fit inside a car trunk and can even fit in subway rush hour.

Those little wheels that help with transport when it’s folded are ingenious.
They are even better if you upgrade them from the stock ones
