You explained the process SO well and it makes SO MUCH sense!! No one explains quite like you! =)
This is without doubt the best tutorial I have seen for hot rollers and the best result. Thank you so much for sharing I can't wait to try.
Thank you, Emily! This is by far the best explanation of rollers that I've ever seen. I feel like I'll get a lot more use out of my set now!
Emily, I was so surprised to find your video pop up when I did a search for hot roller ideas. Your suggestion of starting at the part and going sideways has helped more than any suggestions I've come across. I appreciate all of your videos. Keep'm coming!
I havnt even started watching the video yet, but I LOVE THE TITLE! YOU ROCK EMILY!
I discovered your videos about a month ago, and it's been fantastic watching new and older videos alike. I've learned so much - and you're so down to earth. XOXOX
I was doing it WRONG...NOT anymore!! Em you ROCK!!!! Thank you for teaching me things my mom never taught me!
Amazing tutorial. I am so trying this tomorrow. I've never been overly happy with my hot roller set results before.
I got these rollers last night. I can't wait to try your rolling technique. I always used the old school method of going strait back and it works ok but you seem to get a lot more volume. Thanks! :)
Thank you for the video. It makes me want to get a new set of rollers. Will table the idea until winter since I live in Florida. I have naturally curly hair and have to let it be curly in the summer. Otherwise I am fighting a losing battle daily. I love the smoothness with the curl you get with rollers. Have a great day.
I gotta say, I follow many beauty gurus, I think you have the most informative channel. You explain everything in detail and have an understanding of products, great channel !
This was so helpful! I have wanted to try hot rollers for over a year now and have just been researching the best ones to get. My hair has gotten very long over the past few months so I'm not sure how well they will work but I am going to try! Thanks :]
Emily - I just enjoy your videos so much! There are certain youtube makeup/beauty gurus that one day, I'm not in the mood to watch and other days, I am - but honestly, you are one of the gurus that I'm subscribed to that I don't ever second guess watching! Thank you for being so dedicated to posting videos! I really enjoy them! Your personality is so contagious and I'd like to think that if I knew you in person, we'd be great friends! HA
Thank you sooo much for making this. I was one of the people asking you to make this video, because I don't have anyone to show me how to use hot rollers. You really are the absolute best! Thank you for being so amazing!
Your hair is gorgeous Emily! All that shine! Looks so healthy!!
now there's a roller I haven't really experimented with! And that could speed up my morning routine even more :D thanks for the idea
Beautiful! You and the curls. Your hair looks so healthy. I'm going to look and see if you have hair tutorials.
Your hair turned out so pretty. I have natural very wavy hair, so doing this probably wouldn't work the same on me. But I never knew how hot rollers worked, so it was interesting to see.
You are absolutely amazing Emily. I look forward to every single video you make!
yay! Glad you're enjoying the oldies too! :D thanks for watching!
Just purchased the T3 rollers and am in love!! I have long, medium texture, thick hair, also the Topstyler c-clips are great too. Love your videos, always so polished and put together, I really appreciate you! Take care,
This tutorial was so helpful, thanks Emily! I'm so happy that we have an Ulta opening soon very close to my house. I hope they'll carry that curler set - I love the type of clips it comes with, I really don't care for the thin metal ones most hot rollers have. Thanks for another great video Em! xo
Thanks for showing us how to do this. My husband bought me a set of hot rollers for my bday and I tried using it and did not do a good job at that. Lol. Now I will be able too with your video help. : )
Excellent tutorial. I love my hot rollers, but got into the habit of rolling them all in the same direction. Can't wait to try this on the top section going sideways!
Your hair, even before putting in one roller, is really pretty. The finished look from the roller set was really pretty too. Thanks for another helpful video!
loved the tutorial !! you are extremely articulate and that makes your videos sooooo much more informative :) you totally rock! :))
I have two sets of rollers and I just bought the T 3 rollers and now I MUST have these too.
I LOVE my hot rollers. Your set has nicer clips - mine are the old wire ones - but I did find pinch clips by Conair that will fit over regular sized rollers to hold them nice and tight to your head (Sally's Beauty). I have also used a product called Hot Set by Redken that you lightly spray on each section before you roll it up and that seems to work well for me - holds curl longer. I think I might get your set for my daughter to take to college!
Wow, you're super professional with the rollers. It takes an hour for me to roll my hair. Not because I have too much hair but I roll and unroll for each hair section many times :(
I LOVE my hot rollers. Im on a bit of a roller kick at the moment. They are definitely less damaging than a curling iron. so much quicker to use and my curls last all day (at least) but your pattern is completely different to mine. . I only use 6!! haha, so I've never had a problem with them being heavy, it also makes it super fast.
i've been wondering for ages how you've been doing your hair like this, so thank you so much for this tutorial!! i've never even thought about using hot rollers but now i really want to try them :)
Emily, you make beauty things so much fun to watch, I want to try everything you have. Thank you!
I love the effect and ease of hot rollers, but I have so much hair that I find that I either have to buy two sets of rollers or do my hair in two sections...But your hair turned out so beautifully, I'm going to give hot rollers another go!
Thanks for sharing! I love your videos!
Lots of
I have naturally curly hair yet i still watched this video because I find you and your videos so relaxing and lovely
I just bought these yesterday! in black white and pink and I tried them this morning and they didn't work at all! I kinda guessed how to use them though! can't wait to try your way!
I'm so excited that you used a Not Your Mother's product! Love them and love your videos.
thank you so much for posting! i have hot rollers but i never use them because the curls always turned out so funky looking, now i realize it was user error lol! can't wait to use my rollers now , the correct way! ;)
I have these rollers and I love the clips too! I am so jealous of the bounce and volume of your hair with these though! My hair isn't super long but it's soooo thick that it just weighs the curl down and I end up having to take my flat iron to it to put in more curl. They need to make these things with more rollers for people with LOTS of hair.
Hi love your videos! I only got into hot rollers like 6 months ago but i love them! My hairs like your very fine and doesnt like to curl... but something that worked to help my curls stay longer is to put curling mouse in my hair when went then dry normally (my hair dries straight) they put the rollers in and finally a little hair spray. they stay pretty well even in a warm night club! And the curls dont come ouch crunchy if you know what i mean :)
wow it came out amazing! not gonna lie, i didn't think I'd like hot rollers cuz i didn't like the typical look u get with them...but the way you do is so modern and cute, and I kinda wanna buy these! lol:)
Ahh, I have never used hot rollers, but now I want to try them. Thanks for the demo Emily :)
Goodness! This was beyond helpful! Thank you!!!! Your makeup is so pretty! I’d love a makeup tutorial! :)
YAY you posted this right on time I graduate tomorrow and I needed this tutorial!
Thank you - by far the best tutorial on hot rollers I've ever seen.
Thank you for telling people to leave them in! So many videos show women leaving them in for 10 minutes, max! I'm trying to perfect my routine, but I never leave mine in for less than 30, regardless of the type that I use (short ones or my longer set for waves).
Sarah Maley Farris I do my hair 1st. Take the rollers out before I head out the door. Specifically went with rollers so I could be hands free to do other things, like putting my face on or getting kiddo out the door, lol
I'm loving St. Tropez mousse!! planning an updated sunless tanner video soon
Oh okay, thanks!! I really appreciate that you actually answer peoples questions :)
WOW!Gorgeous Emily, your hair is beautiful and these curlers are amazing!. Whatever tutorial you do you are fab at it. Love what you do...Maria...xxx
I love this video! It is very helpful. I enjoyed your video when you were getting ready for work, and was wondering if your routine had changed could you do a new one.
I love how great of a guru you are! whenever i want something you mention, i know it will always be a reasonable price instead of some of those crazy expensive things it sems every other guru buys. and you just have so much knowledge! great vid as always! :)
you look sooo good with your hair curled!!!
I followed this tutorial this morning and when I walked into work my coworker looked at my hair and told me it was really cute... then she looked closer and asked if it was my real hair (because I almost ALWAYS wear a boring bun-blob thing on top of my head to work, she's rarely seen my hair down). She thought it was a really pretty wig! LOL. great tutorial!
Looks so natural, thanks for the tut!!!
I absolutely adore your videos. You're so informative and your videos are super helpful for me, a beauty product challened individual. Thank you:)
I just curled my daughters hair and it is fine but heavy. One tip I got is to make sure you use a heat tamer spray, heat rollers up for about 5 to 10 min. and make sure to leave rollers in for about 45 min! The longer the rollers are in the tighter curl you will get! Hope this helps!
saw the intro pic of you with your hair curled and the word "gorgeous" just came out of my mouth instinctively.
Your hair is so shiny and gorgeous! I love it.
Thank you very much for this particular video just in time!
I've been searching for hair curlers for my niece who has started getting into 'style' lately ;)
What was the down side by the way, Emily?
Your hair looks so shiny and healthy Emily!
I never thought to use the heat protectant spray like that!! I have it too and i find that it makes my hair feel crunchy -_- Going to have to try it that way now!
You have no idea how helpful this was. Thanks!
this is gorgeous, i so want to try this on my mom for mother's day. thanks for the tutorial
This was very helpful! Thank you! Can't wait to try rollers again after failing! THANKS!
Awesome! I just bought my own set of hot rollers so im just about to try this technique for myself! Thank you for sharing :)
Black hair reflects the most light of all hair colors so it could just be how her hair always looks!
yayay! thank you so much, you're seriously like the best guru on youtube, hands down!
I have no idea why I watched this other than the fact I like your videos. I have naturally very curly hair and a pixie cut.
Thank you for the tutorial-you are a fabulous teacher. I actually have an old Conair steaming curling iron that is easy to use, fast and beats the curl factor of this setter by a long shot. Perhaps these hot rollers are best on long hair? My hair is shoulder length, and fine texture. Your hair sure looks great though!
def check out foam rollers! i got a bundle of 10 from my 99 cent store and wow, i really didn;t expect much from them, but they surprised me.
I don't have any issues with tangles with these rollers- I'm more likely to have that issue with velcro rollers just because the hair clings to them more
in terms of getting a curl-- both will give you that. But because you're rolling hot rollers up to the root- you tend to get more volume right at the roots. So with hot rollers, it's curl + volume
I never tire of you or your videos... one of my absolute favorite youtubers (tied with Sam Schuerman =] ) You're so unique, intelligent and helpful. Thanks for all you do Emily!
Wow, the hot rollers make your hair look so healthy.
maybe leave them in longer? not sure how long you're leaving them in. I know there are also some good thermal setting sprays out there like Redken Hot Sets 22 (I believe that's the correct one!) that can help heat-styles last-- my sister in law swears by that stuff & has been using it for years!
thank you so much for the support!!
I like this look over the looks you do today the eye brows are much lighter. And softer much prettier
Stunning. I did not know about verticle before. I learned it.
I find that a styling mousse really improves the lasting power when I curl my hair. This roller set looks great, I'm off to see if they're available in UK!
Your hair is absolutely beautiful!!!!!!!
Perfect! You make it look so easy.
You should make a haircare routine the products you use such as shampoo and conditioner! Your hair is so pretty and shiny!
Thank You so much! I have been waiting for the right tutorial for hot rollers and the price for this set is amazing :)
thanks for sharing these tips!!
This is the BEST hot roller tutorial I've seen on YT..and the outcome is beautiful on you, Emily! Question: In regards to the temp of the rollers..do you feel they get as hot as a curling iron? My hair requires a substantial amount of heat to hold a curl :) Thanks for sharing!
My hair doesn't hold curl very well either, especially when it's long..what I find helps is putting mousse in my hair before I put in the rollers (or gel, but that is generally too heavy for my fine hair) and then I spritz the curls with hairspray before I comb them out (let it dry first) as well as after I have it styled.
I got this hot roller set!!! Can't wait to style with it :)
I just got rollers for Christmas. Can't wait to try this! Love your videos!! :)
Yay!! You made the video I asked about! It was so helpful! Thank you :)
You have so many good ideas!
Loving the video! But I must say, I prefer the look of your hair right after you take the rollers out (before you style it), when the curls are more defined and bouncy. It's just personal preference though, you still looked gorgeous! xxx
If i'm not stopping to explain everything- it takes about 5 minutes to put them in. Then I do other things & take a minute or 2 to style :) It takes me more time to use a curling iron.
You're a beauty Godsend Emily!! Sooooo helpful! Xxx
Best title for a hair tutorial..EVER!! Thanks for the Tips.
I needed to see this from start to finish! Thanks!
your hair is such a pretty color!
I absolutely love how your hair came out. I am definitely going to have to get these!! Love your videos. I love how you explain your techniques. Can't wait for more videos :)
and in terms of ease of use - pretty easy. you just have to get the hang of hooking your hair through the plastic. i find the back of the head can be difficult at times. you also can't do much more than 1-2 inch sections, as the hair doesn't pull through well (can get hair breakage, and i've heard you could potentially snap the hook). also, it'd take waaay longer to dry. oh, and they're not comfortable to sleep in but it's doable. think hard but malleable (easy to uncoil) plastic.
I have these rollers, and I have to say that I get tight curls and I dont end up using all of them and they last all day. Even on second day hair with product it works just like first day hair...I would recommend them to anyone
i know you didn't ask me, but i have a similar hair type to emily (natural wave, holds curl well, fine textured but a lot of hair), and i have curlformers. they work really well - almost too well. you have to play with them a bit to find what you like (that's key) but if you put them in damp hair and leave them to dry COMPLETELY you get a really defined curl that's almost difficult to tame down. sure, by lunch time your hair will look perfect, but a little bit ridiculous before that point. haha
emily I love love love all your videos and I was just wondering if you could do a video about the best drug store brand false lashes. My prom is next week and I want to wear them but I've never bought any or used any so I don't really know what I'm looking for, and I trust your opinion more than anyone elses! if you are able to see this I would appreciate it so much!
