first woman I've seen to own a home like that ...and I absolutely loved this one !! Her pink couch is so cute!! from everything Ive seen this is my favorite !
It's such a beautiful little space, but boy the amount of work and movement to do! After a long day at work I doubt I'll have any mood to do all that :/
Lots of great ideas I can use thanks. I don't understand the dish washer though, it's barely big enough to fit anything. When it's just one person it is quicker just to wash it up. In the UK we have a lot of apartments a lot smaller then this. This would be pretty big compared with a many I have seen here.
So, when will this going to be available in a mass produce quality so that people can actually afford to buy this.. Or, When, will the apartments going to provide this to the tenants? It will be awesome if this feature will be part of the rented apartments all throughout the states..
It looks great. So, the question for me is this: Almost a year and 1/2 has gone by since this video was made. Has any of this actually been implemented for a housing development or are we still just posting dreams? It is great to have ideas like this, but I get so disappointed when there is no follow through. I hope that is not the case here. I may want to move to some congested place someday and hope something like this is already in place.
Достаточно интересно и прикольно, но вот большой вопрос с удобством в повседневной жизни. Банально чтобы утром сесть позавтракать и посмотреть скажем новости, нужно разложить и сложить добрую половину квартиры
i hope this becomes normal in the future. With populations increasing as they are these are a great solution. They don't even need to be super small. They could fit this furniture out in houses meant for smaller families and make them into larger family homes. The possibilities are endless :)... they just need to convince certain people that they don't need as much space as they're taking up.
Even if the population decreased rather than increase it would still be amazing with it saving money and the environment. There are indeed loads to learn from the innovations coming from the designers of these humble little homes.
as a designer, the problem is, this is all more novelty and cool...at first. But lets be honest with ourselves and someone who lives in manhattan. Sure it saves space, but really people will only reconfigure these things the first month, then it becomes a burden. Not to mention, moving parts means breaking parts over time...
gforemang That goes to build quality. The high end and working class places will look about the same, but the details, like the way that bed works is what matters. If your point of reference is Ikea which is stuff made to be periodically replaced when the place is redecorated, then there is a balancing point on longevity vs cost. You start talking about $6,000 Italian folding beds, yes, they will outlast the owners.
RavenNight Imagine to keep really clean a place like that. you'll spend half of your day unpacking furniture, cleaning every corner... And if you are old or you have mobility problems, taking the bed down every night? I used to live in a studio with only one window...a hell. I was running out of air every 30 min. Small places, no matter how good designed they are, make your life really uncomfortable.
To save space, change old habits. Store a wardrobe in pull-out baskets beneath a daybed or sofa bed. Iron as needed. Dine with a plate in your lap. Study with a handheld computer and clipboard. Store convenient items in a tote bag on a nearby hook. Effortless and less use of resources.
Have to admit that chair ladder and small ironing board are neat. This is the smallest at 300+ square feet anyone should live. Anything smaller is living in a well furnished prison cell. I'd get rid of the dishwasher and get a bigger fridge. Eating out or take out often no matter what, kills all your extra cash quickly.
This is being shown in New York City.I did a quick Google and found this in an old New York Times article "The average price per square foot for co-ops and condos in Manhattan in the second quarter of 2006 was a record $1,083, according to Miller Samuel, an appraisal firm." A queen size bed is about 33 square feet, so even if you had an extra room that was only big enough for the bed that would be $33,000. I suspect the furniture may be cheaper than that. ;) A quick scan of the rest of the article for other parts of New York show price per square foot at the time ranged from $600 - $8000, although if someone can swing $8000 a square foot, they're probably not caring much about saving on the cost. The article was called "City as Home" and it was in the "Great Homes and Destination" section of the New York Times in case you want to Google it. I can't find the date on it, but from the references I'm guessing it's from late 2006 or early 2007.
I have the same bed, only not with a sofa, but with a dining table attached to it, from the same brand. Love it, in my 17.3 feet (28m2) studio apartment. And yes, it's expensive, but less expensive then a bigger house with more space ;o)
В реальной жизни все эти трансформации мебели быстро зайобывают, потому-что ты хочешь присесть именно в эту минуту, а не тратить несколько минут на раскладывание стула, а потом его складывание после того как позавтракал.

At the beginning, she converts it into a sofa by placing two large red cushions on it. Where are you supposed to store the cushions? Surely they don't expect you to have them laying on the floor as in the video....

The ironing table is clever!
This would keep you in shape with all the bending, stretching, carrying, moving!
Mi stanca già solo il pensiero che ogni giorno dovrei mettermi a fare quei passaggi ... Non lo trovo pratico. Però fa eccezione la tavola da stiro
Out of all those things, the chair ladder was the coolest to me!!
This was too satisfying to watch. I somehow even managed to shed a tear of joy.
This vids is truly great, really fun to watch.
All the #furniture products shown in the video are absolutely amazing. Having these in your home will enhance it's look and functionality.
I'm watching your video in the car because it's raining so hard.💙
Great micro-apartment idea. Your video informs & inspires people around the world. Thanks from thailand.
I'd love to own those furniture. That desk, the coffee table and the bed are really so nice (although nothing really new). :)
It's such a beautiful little space, but boy the amount of work and movement to do! After a long day at work I doubt I'll have any mood to do all that :/

I love this kind of life!!!
Fantastic! How much is always the problem with good design that lasts. How do we make it affordable?

Thanks! I wish we would see more of this done around here.
