- The Czech folk song "Ach, neni tu, neni (Ah, not here, not)" performed by Victor Nikitin (tenor) and the Alexandrov Red Army Choir. Conductor is Konstantin Vinogradov. This video recording was made in Prague during the tour of the Ensemble to Czechoslovakia in June-July 1948.
In the full text of the lyrics of this song, a young girl tells how sad and unhappy she is. The reason is that she lost her beloved one, whom she was in love with and with whom she was very happy. It is all the worse that now her parents are forcing her to marry a widowed man and she is not interested in him. Moreover, this widower is severely devastated by the loss of his wife, and the girl is afraid that even if she marry him, he would not be able to love her properly because he had already given much of his love to his first wife.

TRANSLATION OF THE LYRICS:
Ah, not here, not here, what made me happy
Ah, not here, what pleased me before!
All what I liked - flowed away with water.
Ah, not here, what pleased me before!
How to plow without a plow and a horse?
How to plow without seeds?
After all, such plowing is like love,
Like love without kisses.
+++
ORIGINAL LYRICS (SHORTENED):
Ach, není tu, není, co by mě těšilo,
ach, není tu, není, co mě těší,
Co mě těšívalo, vodou uplynulo.
Ach, není, tu není, co mě těší.
Jaké to vorání bez pluhu, bez koní,
jaké to vorání bez koleček?
Takové vorání, jako milování,
jako milování bez hubiček.

How happy People were..lovely Times
I m Glad you came back. Thank you
Bella y dulce voz de Nikitin. Uno de los grandes solistas.
And what a wonderful compliment he made to a neighbouring country by singing in its own tongue. Please have a look to the video of Viktor Nikitin singing in BERLIN 1946. He choose one of the most heartfelt German songs called Volkslieder: "IM SCHÖNSTEN WIESENGRUNDE". The people had tears of joy and relief in their eyes, sitting at Gendarmenmarkt within the devastated capital of Germany. I like the view of the camera showing men and woman smiling and expressing joy.
Viktor Nikitin's voice is so natural and warm that everybody opens his heart.
MOTHERTONGUE MEANS LOVE! Greetings from Germany

❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰
This is fabulous. So beautiful, and the video is clear and fresh. Well done on the multiple subtitling. The English version reminds me of what the Americans have done to our language. I can understand ‘plow’ because of the phonetics, but it looks so strange when you’re used to ‘plough’. 😆 Great job though - thank you!
My pleasure Diana! )))
Absolutely stellar recording, but I believe that the "koloček" means "wheel", so it'd actually be ploughing without wheels, which makes some sense. To be honest, I don't know Czech, but a Czech friend tuned me in on that.
Yeah kolečko/kolečka means wheel, but its old czech language so maybe it meant something different
