This is gonna be a long story, but this audio was really healing for me. I’m rarely in the comments but I just have to give K his flowers on this one. 💐❤️ I heard “put ur spikes on” AHHHH the ex track star in me is cheesin so hard!! I always wanted a cute lil track bf in highschool but I went to a pws as a black girl. I wouldn’t say people were racist, but I definitely wasn’t anyone’s type, nor were people very friendly. There was plenty micro aggressions and comments relating to my ethnicity being the only reason why I’m fast. There were times were students on my team were rude hs kids being hs kids i guess, but then I noticed my coaches caring less,and ignoring me, that’s when I stressed. I was always people pleasing when I was younger, seeing people act indifferent towards me really got to me. I tried my best to support others, but failed, girls on the team started doing mean things out of spite like dropping batons during races, I had a tractor tire dropped on my foot at one point (i think it was an accident??) but I wasn’t able to race, MY FOOT WAS SQUASHED. It took three 115 pound girls to wheel this thing around, once it dropped on my foot the girls walked away, I YELLED FOR HELP. I had hurdles and the 100 IN HALF AN HOUR AND IM STARING AT MY FOOT STUCK UNDER A TRACTOR TIRE.. one of the throwers ended up hearing my literal war cry and lifted it for me ALL ALONE. I limped to tell my coach, they were mad at me because our team is small and they really depended on me. The only person who asked if I was okay that day was the guy who lifted the tire off my foot, he helped me up to the stands. He literally forced me to take my shoes off, he used icy hot on my foot because there wasn’t any ice. Bro literally sat there massaging my foot in the cold and rain. He allowed me to vent or remain silent. He made me so comfortable, he was the first person I wasn’t related to, that I cried in front of. In another life I would truly give that man the world and more, WHOEVER RAISED HIM DESERVES THE BEST THE WORLDS GOT. I had and still have a huge bump on the side of my foot from the tire completely flattening it. I’m so lucky nothing broke, but even more grateful for the fast dude on the team gave me a whole foot massage and spa treatment while I tried my best not to cry about missing the opportunity to compete at state. There are times where all I want is an apology from those girls, when I close my eyes at night I always think of the kindness I was shown from that guy. That was truly the first time I felt seen and felt like I was allowed to not be okay, He was the first person that told me it was okay to feel the way I feel. K reminds me of that same genuine kindness. I’m one less lonely gal w ur work, thank you, K.
