Bro dug deep on the lore. Good media analysis too, I think you took meaning from it that was maybe not the original intent, but that's what art is all about, interpretation and metamorphism. Overall, I think you told a good story with a great interpretation of the art. One minor criticism I will add is that though it fits the narrative here to say she is the last one standing, the community is still around today, though not as popular. It's undeniable she's the most successful and innovative artist to come out of the community, but outside of Slater, Hard Christ, and NXP, a lot of the other artists you mentioned are still active and have seen relative success. Fried By Fluoride, NEET, as well as many of the smaller artists have persisted.
Good interpretation. I found her via my journey though incelcore music starting with NXP and eventually finding the female epunk side via Brynn. I think I found her music sometime around the Happy Smile release, so I never knew her from the MSG days. She's by far one of the best indie artists I've ever heard and has consistently improved from album to album, in my opinion. By the way, there are still good incelcore artists out there. NXP has begun to make music again and Fried by Fluoride seems to still be doing things. C9k and Pax (Pacific Purgatory) are more epunk than incelcore, but they carry on an excellent tradition of indie music.

Good video, really liked it but i hate the title "conquered the incelcore scene" kind of undermines all the other great artists in this niche. Nobody conquered anything, it was a small movement which produced some interesting music, why do you have to frame it like that. Also epunk is the same as incelcore, the term incelcore was tacked on by detractors of the movement and only ebraced as a meme by the community. Finally i dont believe the voice stuff, it was pretty obvious that the voice was of a girl and most people thought as such, this coming from someone whos been in the community for a long time.

I love this video! I feel like it’s a really good analysis of Gezebelle, her start and where she is now. I find your take on her album “The Fridge” extremely interesting, I never thought about it as her transition from faking being a misogynistic man to being her true self. I think the album is most likely about a true relationship she had but also dealing with her masculine persona. I wish you talked about the whole birdbath/raven/greensontoast drama situation (although “drama” is a bit flippant for what happened), as that also majorly impacted her career and future albums. Maybe in a new video? Also, I feel like a lot of her misogynistic lyrics were either made to satirize those who thought like that/touch upon how it feels to be a woman and viewed like that. “I don’t speak to whores”, to me, was always about satirizing the way society treats victims of sexual assault, and showing how dark and grim it truly is for survivors. Especially with a lot of the songs placing emphasis on being “used for sex”, which is something primarily women have to deal with, I feel like this should’ve been a clearer indicator. Of course, these are my own interpretations of her music, so opinions will differ. I am very glad she decided to be true to herself, she has grown not just in audience but in musical talent. I hope to see more from her in the future!

The idea that there is “only one” incelcore artist left is, in my opinion, a disservice to all the artists involved in the incelcore scene who are admittedly less popular then Gez but still active like Crustsox, NEET, h4rtbrkr, Fried by Fluoride, etc. Apart from that, the idea that “epunk” and “incelcore” are in some way different from each other is odd to me, maybe it’s something people have come to agree upon. From what I knew the terms are interchangeable and that Negative XP just came up with the term “epunk” to try to improve the market viability of incelcore as a genre (and maybe because of some gay drama, I don’t remember). At the end of the day I don’t think either name really matters but I know people constantly rage about one name being better than another. Anyways, good video. I’m a big fan of Gez and it’s good to see more material acknowledging her talent.

I think that most of the societal failings that incelcore points out are undoubtedly true, they just place the blame on women instead of larger structures in place. You're correct in calling it modern punk, it definitely is the closest we have to that. The re-branding of it to "e-punk" was a good call
@@SchizoPantheon ePunk is definitely a better Genre name than Incelcore. Some of the artists released new music since your video and it seems most of them have grown out of the incel stuff. Init negative xp have one good song too they not even that good the fact it's boys only is gay fried by fluoride and gezebelle gaburgalry are the best out of the genre gross name for the genre tho
I always took the perspective of snailman as ironic. The songs are going further in to delusion as snail man depicts broken people, deattached from reality, born out of their conditions, pushed to extremism. Her obsession with him is like a toxic relationship, which I think parallels some of meanings of some of her earlier songs. Especially with the song snailbody, that sounds like a reference to the snail "people", saying that putting herself in that position caused her to be "corrupted" into becoming a snail person herself. It could even be referring to her making incelcore music too, and falling into a community which would oust her for her literally just being a woman.
Personally I always saw incelcore as punk. I was surprised when I would comment on videos and people would tell me I was wrong and even odder to me that I must be an incel to like the genre. This really helped me understand the history and the confusing mess it was trying to get into a genre that was being suppressed by yt as well as gatekeeped by the fanbase. Although I guess it's been a decade since I've gotten laid so maybe incel isn't far off. Like being a born again Christian, magically getting my virginity back. I'm glad to know there's another movement similar to incelcore and excited to check out E-Punk. I always thought the way things ended with incelcore was a shame and I really didn't know where to turn to for something that had a similar flavor. Watching incelcore rise in my mind was what it must have been like for early punk in the 70s. I always felt I missed out since I'm a millennial so that time had passed long before I was born.
Im surprised you dont have more subscribers. Well i just watched your video on hole unplugged and you know youre right and you just got a new one. Happy Christmas 🎁

Thanks for the extra knowledge :) I stopped being apart of the scene around 2021 November due to some drama in incelcore general but this video was great! much love, the editing was amazing
You can't have a thriving music scene with bedroom dwellers who never go to concerts. And this Geze lady made it big because said bedroom dwellers want a chic. Most mainstream music gets big because women make the majority of consumer choices
Dude I'm really sick of people just resorting to "incel = smelly fat neckbeard creep". It's just a way to pretend that we live in some type of dating meritocracy, and that you'd have to be absolutely repulsive to not be able to get a girlfriend. I don't hate women, but I typically wouldn't use that phrasing lest I come off as a "omg i'm an incel but i don't hate women" pathetic type person. I have respect for the female role models in my life (my mother and grandmother, friends etc.) while also feeling frustrated and betrayed by the things I was told by them. I've largely made peace with the fact I'm probably never going to get a partner. I honestly have always thought of it as ridiculously out of reach. Just please, all these comments about incels killing themselves are aggravating because it's clear they've been thoroughly dehumanised and again, reduced to this mixed image of "fat creepy loser neckbeard wannabe rapist".
Bro... I've been married 14 years with 5 kids... and Gezebelle's music is great. Whether you're sexually-active or not is irrelevant. Just listen to the music!
Recently her show got antifa swamped in Montreal. If anyone knows anything about this please let me know! 1 There is an interview with her on youtube 2 I don't speak to whores isn't pitched down as far as I can tell. 3 Snailman is absolutely not a messiah figure, it's just a fun meme to reference 4 I Hate my body is niether a celebration nor a mockery of trans ideology, she's playing with ambiguity as all artists do and she's really good at it. Giblin isn't celebrating or condemning mass shooting- its examining it and playing with the ambiguity to satirize how precious and PC culture and discourse has become. 5 epunk isn't a separate genre of incelcore it's just a name change. I never really think she ever tried to present as male, she just kindoff rolled with it and laughed at it. I could be way off but I don't think this "her next album would have to be her final incelcore album" narrative ever really existed. She isn't singing in a male voice she just has a very low voice lol. I never percieved her as having put on a masculine persona, she was just making very lo fi music with a very low voice. Your theory is sick though and you might be right. I got into her music only after it was well known that she was a wamen. So I always just heard a very low female voice when I listened to her music I disagree with almost all of your perceptions and inferences but I'm glad you made this video the visuals are awesome too.
@@SchizoPantheon hey I heavily edited my comment so aha yeah. These people are bully's and pyscho and totalitarian. I personally have stopped backpedalling and apologizing and am now like yeah I'm an alt right incel nazi lol. You can't negotiate with these weirdo's
I tend to agree here. It seems like she was just deep in the incel subculture and presented alot of her sings as such. Even now alot of her music is very ambiguous and could easily be interpreted as being from a male perspective. Its possible (and an interesting theory) that she felt pressured, and it adds alot more depth to some of her albums, but it doesnt quite sit entirely right. Personally, i just think she heavily resonated with the male side of the incel subculture (for whatever reason) and presented the beliefs, stories, and feelings she had and had picked up regarding it as such, for a variety of reasons, and just kinda went with the male assumption until she started making music more about her personal real world problems and life.
I agree with some your points, especially epunk just being a name change. I somehow missed the interview while making this video, I have seen it since since someone else here pointed it out. I don't think I hate my body had anything to do with trans culture, I wasn't trying to imply that. I'm saying that people at the time thought that that's what it was before people knew she was a woman. I find that it's easy to hear that it's a woman singing in all of her songs with that context in mind, but before that was revealed and a well known fact, I and most people in the community thought she was a man. The female voice is a lot easier to notice when you know it's there. I don't know if gezebelle playing into being a man was always conscious, but that's how it came across to the people listening. Same with the snailman: it might be funny meme, but funny memes still convey subtext through how they're presented, especially when they have music and paintings accompanying them. I don't know if he was consciously intended to be a Messiah figure, but that's how he's portrayed in the art he appears in. Anyway, thanks for watching the video, I'm glad you enjoyed parts of it!
great video except you got a few things wrong about snailbody. at the time it seemed like the general consensus was that she was trans at the time of posting the song but then decided that she wasn't trans and actually just a guy. there was a reupload of the song that has since been taken down where she commented "im not transgender" and that was interpreted as her saying that she was a man by most people at the time. In the stream clip that you quote at the beginning of the video where shooter calls msg a boys club, he even says he believed she was a trans woman and that's why he let her on the album because they had already had xo_willow on msg 1 and 2 and willow identified as a transwoman at the time. as a fan at the time it seemed like most people believed that gezebelle was a guy who used to identify as a transwoman and that's why the songs on Giblin where written from a female perspective.
more on Giblin: i was friends with gez in high school and she wrote two songs on giblin, I dont speak to whores, and apologies, about me and another friend of ours
proof that inceldom was always just an inversely sentimental version of the same thing that they criticized-- their aesthetic culminates in a transgender adventure time soccer mommy cover artist
I am no musician, but seeing the virginfest video makes me want to get into music. I think I could have a lot to sing about literature and Christian philosophy, and maybe a bit of late Roman and Russian history. I don't want to sing "Christian Rock" though. Instead I want to make energetic folk-type music that drunk people can dance to, but it secretly has meaning to it.

This video is so underrated
Top tier vid, top tier topic.

I LOVE GEZ
really well edited video I live for this shit im sad it doesn't have 100s of thousands of views
this is so cool to hear about, I was involved in the scene around when goblin released as well! I used to actively talk to people like cowboy and Crustsox and I remember thinking gezebelle was a guy. Shes been my favorite music artist since I listened to stop worshipping attractive people. Thanks for the extra knowledge :) I stopped being apart of the scene around 2021 November due to some drama in incelcore general but this video was great! much love, the editing was amazing
this is so gay
It really is.

If I start writing music she's probably why

Look up forever alone those people are smarter
I'm an "incel", but this sounds like a big cope.
@@Tuliotrivinooficial wdym??? I'm not claiming anything except that I'm not the stereotype of a fat greasy nerd who only wants to have sex with women.

Also if you have any questions towards her you should dm her through social media, she actually responds pretty often!
Recently her show got antifa swamped in Montreal. If anyone knows anything about this please let me know!
1 There is an interview with her on youtube
2 I don't speak to whores isn't pitched down as far as I can tell.
3 Snailman is absolutely not a messiah figure, it's just a fun meme to reference
4 I Hate my body is niether a celebration nor a mockery of trans ideology, she's playing with ambiguity as all artists do and she's really good at it.
So I always just heard a very low female voice when I listened to her music
I disagree with almost all of your perceptions and inferences but I'm glad you made this video the visuals are awesome too.
@@marblemarble7113 I use to assume she just made music for lesbians
@@SchizoPantheon aha yeah snailman could be an anti hero sortoff messiah. Yeah the video all in all was sick!
I hope incelcore sticks around for a little longer. At least enough time for preripped to make an album
i love preripped so much dmmrmffm
NO MALE SPACES
no female spaces either
maybe we should learn to share
great video except you got a few things wrong about snailbody. at the time it seemed like the general consensus was that she was trans at the time of posting the song but then decided that she wasn't trans and actually just a guy. there was a reupload of the song that has since been taken down where she commented "im not transgender" and that was interpreted as her saying that she was a man by most people at the time.
Thanks for clarifying that, I might have misremembered since it was a few years ago and it's hard to find archives of those discussions
so wait she is trans?

I am no musician, but seeing the virginfest video makes me want to get into music. I think I could have a lot to sing about literature and Christian philosophy, and maybe a bit of late Roman and Russian history.
I don't want to sing "Christian Rock" though. Instead I want to make energetic folk-type music that drunk people can dance to, but it secretly has meaning to it.
