    Wow, Deven's less than 24-hour turnaround, including the hunt for a derailleur hanger, shoes, and wheels - plus setup in time for the next day's Arts District _and_ full blown redemption to the podium is an awesome story in itself. That was, indeed, fire in the heart.

    Sorry for your crash Devin and congrats on the result. Watching, I'm struck by how cool it is to have the cameras, and that you and Jeff take the time to break down the anatomy of a crash. At the end of the day, this one looked like an instance of "crit things happen in big crits," but seeing it broken down from multiple angles might provide some learning, and it's fascinating in and of itself. When I was racing crits cameras were just starting to become ubiquitous. Usually when I crashed I never really had much idea what the heck had happened!

    Elbows out man and you may get yelled at if you do it too much or too far out. But that rider/move coming on your left gets pushed out if your elbows are flared, look at 11 minutes where you have freeze frame with highlighted bubble. Also, you are the only rider that so can see on the tops, less stable/iffy grip than drops and with two laps to go in my drops, elbows ready as precaution. Awesome recovery next day so bravo indeed.

    Glad you were able to come out of that crash to get a great result at the next one! Sometimes it's just a millisecond away from disaster and there's nothing you can do. From what I see in the cam view, you were just about to filter behind the guy to your right to take that turn perfectly, but the guy to your left wasn't backing down when he should have done the same and prepared for the turn. It wasn't an aggressive bump, but he crowded the space unnecessarily and most likely would have been shut down in that turn anyway.

    The rider on the left (to the right as we look from the front) is, I think, caught out by the riders in front moving from their right to left. You can see from Devin's footage that Devin moves from being on the right side of the white line, to the left side of the line, just before the crash. At 10:58 you can see that the angle of Devin's bike and that of the guy that bumps shoulders with him are converging and that the guy is trying to swerve away. From this I don't think the shoulder bump was intentional. He may have been guilty of loosing concentration for a second only to find those in from of him moving over to the left while he was still travelling a straight line. Thoughts? Well done, Devin, for coming back the next day and taking 3rd.

    • @DennisGonzalez101

      @@DennisGonzalez101 I would disagree, the pack is drifting left, the guy on the left should have seen it as the racing line is what people follow. He should have just drifted left rather than leaning in but I don't think it was intentional, it is a second to make that call.

      @Ad-my9kg Год назад

      @@devenvangreuningen3275 I don't think you actually read what I wrote, and your typo suggests a hasty response. I did not say that it was not his fault. I've had orange, raspberry, citrus, watermelon, mango chili, and chocolate. I'd say raspberry is probably the least salty of them, but I really like most of them. Per my cardiologist my body needs a relatively high level of hydration in general, and sodium in particular, so I drink a lot of LMNT. Avoid the mango chili and chocolate, there's nothing good to be found there. Orange and watermelon are my favorites.

      @@JSarazin I immediately threw up after having the chili one. I didn't look at what I put in the bottle and the taste was a complete shock to my system. The plain one is essentially just dumping 1k mg of salt into your drink.

    That guy on the left is a poor bike handler - a twitcher in the parlance of pro riding - and either lacks situational awareness or intentionally crashes people. He had full view of what was coming and still bumped someone right into a line of riders moving left. I'm just gonna say it because the channel is too polite here: a JERK move. I know crit stuff happens but this is inexcusable in any race. I know it's not sanctionable but I hope he's at least marked for future races as the unsafe rider he is and people learn to avoid him.

    And this is exactly why i will never ride crits in USA - some doofus will risk 10 lives to win a bag of Skratch. No thank you

    rider on the left did him dirty. Realistically, I don't think there was much if anything that he could have done... had to have been insanely frustrating.

    They need tp narrow the course to 1.5 lanes and put some hairpins and more corners. Otherwise people don't have anywhere to make a difference and have to take risk. Bike raci g shouldn't be a nascar race.

      People would just take greater risks. ie. Dive bombing hairpins, more shoving, less room for error, and more. We would still be doing near 30 miles and hour, just a recipe for disaster.

      @devenvangreuningen3275 That's not what happens in Europe. The variations in speed are so much that there is more differentiation, and the elastic band goes earlier. People can't dive bomb you if your hip is in front of their handlebar and you shut your corner. Maybe in cat 4, but above that, no way.
