My favorite Easter egg with this archetype is that the art for the fiend fusion really makes the viewer wonder what they’re looking at. I always loved the aesthetic theming of Dream Mirror, and their interesting Field Spell gimmick. The loophole that lets you put both field spells on at once by using your opponent's zone was such a clever move on their part that it shot up my appreciation for the deck. One time, while I was learning Sky Striker, my friend decided to play this deck against me, and THAT was the real nightmare (she won). That's how I learned to never underestimate even the lower-powered non-competitive decks, and how Dream Mirror became an archetype I will never forget. Loved the video and the credit you gave them!
I totally agree: Underestimating your opponent, even if they're playing a deck that's widely believed to be bad, is a quick way to lose to someone who's really taken the time to learn it. I'm glad you enjoyed!
Something interesting I noticed in Hypnagogia's art is that Terror Ikelos has a wistful, sad smile on her face, like she was looking at something she wanted so desperately, but knew she couldn't have. To contrast, Joy Ikelos looked annoyed or upset. It makes me wonder about the relationship between the Joy and Terror counterparts.
Could be a little like the relationships of Humans and their Shadows. The Joyful Side of the Mirror dislikes and doesn't want to acknowledge their counterpart, meanwhile the Terror side wishes nothing more than be accepted.
The archetype needs a personnalized Pot of Avarice, and it needs a way to start without the need of Ikelos AND a mirror. Because frankly you're doing nothing without these two specific things, and that continuous trap is really lackluster if we talk about recycling. Though, once you have your setup with Hypnagogia, you can attack so many times the OTK is almost always guaranted. I remember killing the whole board of a Kuriboh player with two Kuribohrn, with more than 10 attacks in one turn ^^
Mine as well create a new Card which goes like this : If this card Normal or Special Summon while you Control a Dream Mirror Monster(s) Place 1 Dark mirror and Light in Your Field Zone and Your opponent’s and if you Do special Summon 1 “Dream Mirror” From Hand or Deck , you can only use each effects of “Name” once per turn Tbh i have no idea how to create the light version of this card 😂😭
@@xentrium7893 The new Traitor helps with the starter issue since it can activate its effects without the need of a mirror. Still don't have the archetypal Avarice... but I guess using the Phantasos for a rank 4 Emeral is fine...
I actually love the Dream Mirrors. Their art is gorgeous, and their concept is very interesting. I just wish I could figure how to make them more playable.
They need a consistency boost (setting up the special summon effects and also having the field spells can be a bit tricky), a more powerful and easy to get win-con and maybe a link 1 or 2 monster to have an easy way to send our dream mirrors to the GY
Agreed. They do need support. The biggest one being a way to facilitate special summoning. The issue that they suffer from commonly, being that they need to be specialed by another in-archetype monster effect, which REQUIRES a feild card. I think an interesting concept would be a Link 1 Mirror monster that sets feild card and can be used as a free in-archetype special summon once per turn.
A huge problem is unlike Nephtys for example dream mirror cannot really be mixed with other decks as an engine. And it’s own design flaws are so intrinsic there’s really no way to make it viable besides a better continual spell
Welp this convinced me to try dream mirror, I always love decks like this, UA also comes to mind when I think of the swapping and cycling through different cards
Dream mirrors are the only deck I have where I run /just/ the archetype because goddamn are they just SO fun now that Erlking's counterpart came out. I just can't wait for Neiroy's alternative version to come to Master Duel, because his effects are INSANE!
So I only recently discovered your page and I love these explanations! As someone who picked up the Dream Mirrors earlier this year because they looked cool (plus I heard Team APS mentioning them), I appreciate seeing them represented. At first, I battled them on Dueling Nexus and I had NO idea what was going on. But then I read a couple of their effects (like Hypnogogia) and suddenly it clicked and almost instantly I figured out the deck the moment I built it. Well it took a day or so of off-and-on testing, but it was fun to work out the mechanics as quickly as I did. It's definitely not a beginner's deck. It takes a certain mindset to really pilot it well as it can be confusing as all hell when you're trying to keep track of which monsters you need at that moment because you can accidentally activate too many things in a chain all at once. It's weird. Give me a meta combo-heavy deck? I have no idea where to start or what the rotation is. Give me a complicated deck? I'll somehow figure it out fairly quickly.
I very much appreciate you covering all the interesting yet unrepresented archetypes which have peaked my deck building interest. I know they may not all be winners, this, darklord, evil eye, but they are fun and cool fosho 🤓
Great video as always, Nova! Love the little touches in the info box linking to other videos. Didn't really know anything about Dream Mirror, as I returned to ygo quite recently but they look really fun, hope they get even more support in the future!
I always find Dream Mirrors interesting, it feels like a good Jeckyl and Hyde feel, even thou Im kinda doing a dumb and putting alot of the mirror forces in it ^^;
This deck suckered me in with its beautiful art and honestly even knowing that it’s not very good... I’m still a sucker for the whole switching out opposites gimmick. It’s just really cool and unique. The fact there’s only one Neiroy out unlike the rest of the monsters gives me hope that maybe a little more support is due down the line also!
Theres also a trap card named stained glass of light and dark that im sure is related to this deck, involving fairy and and fiends, if you have a fairy you can draw 3 from the deck, and return 2 to the deck of your choosing, if you have a fiend, then you can make your opponent discard essentially 2 cards
The playstyle of the archetype seems to focus on field presence and just forcing your opponent keep using resources to get rid of monster that just tag out to a more suitable form or looping. The problem is resources. If they recycled themselves back into the deck like Madolches they'd be pretty strong but I think Konami wants to avoid that as a built in mechanic hence the trap card that enables it. Personally they need two things. One, a way to permanently have Dream Mirror of Terror and Joy on the field at the same time. Honestly having to play two different field spells is clunky and eats up space. Having one card that can do both would be an amazing boon, even if the card only takes on the name, in fact a link monster can fill that role very well. Secondly they need a way to loop themselves from not only the Deck but grave and hand. The playstyle is good but the limitations on where the tag out can happen forces you to bloat your deck with additional copies just so that the effects have a target. They have their boss Oneiros but they need a path to push for game aside from hoping your opponent drains all of their resources on outing the monster.
Yeah, those are some pretty good assessments! A new field spell that acted as both WOULD kind of power creep the current two, but...I mean, it's not that big a loss. And Link just kind of makes sense with Neiroy's inclusion.
You can also see the opposite of the monster through the mirror behind the monster like Morpheus black knight and white knight also the attack and def is switched based on the light and dark

If you're looking for a structure deck that you can add cards to I recommend beware of traptrix or albaz strike. Albaz strike is part of a deck called despia branded which is probably higher than rogue tier but it is great fun if you like the monster designs
Thank you so much! Honestly couldn't tell you, but I'm sure a big factor has been people hyping up my stuff (because I know the algorithm is certainly giving the videos a hard time xD)
I just restarted the video about 6 times and watched all the adds just so you can have the add money! And I am commenting just for the algorythm I guess.
to some up the light and dark dreamers, some of them want to use you, some of them want to be used by you. some of them want to abuse you, some of them want to be abused.
I love this archetype but man is it frustrating to play. Having to run 4-6 field spells that, let's be honest don't really do anything, makes the deck a total brick-fest. And even when you aren't bricking you still need such a specific hand to get the ball rolling. But when the ball does roll goddamn this deck is fun. I feel like Konami was overly scared when designing the archetype cause if the field spells generated advantage by themselves it would be leagues better and pretty much solve all their problems, but still not be crazy powerful even for the time it came out.
It is the risk of making cards in a new design space. The deck may be frustrating as all get out, but I am glad that they took the chance to make something unique!
Could you imagine if the field spells searched when activated? Imagine trying to explain to little Timmy at your locals why he can't search his dream mirrors after tagging the field spells (because it would be an awful "metaverse - subterror hidden city" type of situation where you can't search if the field spell was activated by another card)
@@GoldenNovaYugioh actually, if i remember correctly, the reason why hidden city can't search is not because it misses the timing. My source is an MBT stream where DistantCoder (judge) joined and tried to explain for 5-8 minutes straight that hidden city doesn't miss timing, what actually happens is something weird like, you don't get an "activation window" for the field spell's effect because it was played on the field by another card instead of being "inherently played from your hand by game mechanics", just like, for an example, you can't sollemn strike a fusion summon because the fusion monster would be summoned by another card and not by inherent summoning methods like links or synchros. So theoretically you still wouldn't be able to search if it was an "if" effect
I am obviously not meant to be a professional Yu-Gi-Oh player because legitimately every deck that I go wow this is really cool is immediately slammed by the entire community as a trash archetype that doesn't play well 😔

E X C E L L E N T! As for how it affects the deck, I'm not sure at the moment, but once I do the yearly Round up, I'll re-evaluate and let ya know!
Do you have any plans for covering the egyptian gods? What with their new support on horizon.
I do plan on making an Egyptian God video once King's Crown has been fully revealed, so keep an eye open for that!
@@GoldenNovaYugioh YYYYYYEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSS
Can you do T.G.
I'll add them to the list!
Tbh I only play it bc
femboy fusion fairy
What would happen if Dream mirror of Joy is on the field and two monsters with the same level? Will this lock your opponent out
Bro this is a great deck if it doesn’t brick because it won’t let someone play
mention labyrnth in here sign of a future deck coming to the tcg lol
I just like cute archetypes :>
Nothing wrong with that! Cute card are great!
Great video Nova! Got no witty comment today sadly
Hey, it means more than you can know that you watched and enjoyed! Thank you very much!
how are you only at 8k subs these videos are good
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much! I don't know what I did to deserve that much effort for me, but I very much appreciate it!
is the battle of chaos support card good?
Wat XYZ Archetype
currently building an unchained dream mirror
THAT sounds very interesting. What's the synergy there?
to some up the light and dark dreamers, some of them want to use you, some of them want to be used by you. some of them want to abuse you, some of them want to be abused.
KOZMO MENTIONED
Me being one of many hero fan boy am excited Henshin
Oh man, now I'm wondering if I can get away with using Viewtiful Joe music for that 🤔
You will fall to the power of the darkdark force
Oh man, yeah, that would be a freakin' nightmare if they didn't make it an IF effect.
Banlist is here
Indeed it is! No reaction video from me, but I'll have a more in depth video for next Tuesday!

YOUR SAID DREAM MORRIR OF CHAOS WHEN IS CALLED DREAM MIRROR OF TERROR

No problem! I hope you enjoy!
The only reason to play this archetype is Oneiros being hot
These cards smell of.....

Duel Links
Ah. Dream Tickets, with notes of hard to pull SRs.
We must be close.
i heard a FNAF reference?
but that's just a THEORY a........GAME THEORY! ;)
its Oniros not onairos
The art is nice...
I am obviously not meant to be a professional Yu-Gi-Oh player because legitimately every deck that I go wow this is really cool is immediately slammed by the entire community as a trash archetype that doesn't play well 😔
No way
Yeah way!
I've played against these cards. They are annoying and can be awesome in the grind game.
Gagagay cowboy
Femboy deck
I just like the art… 🥹
