I just bought five of the men's products from Dossier and I really like these comparison videos because I definitely would not be spending that kind of money and I really love hearing that it's very close and I'm smelling fancy as hell on the train to the gym.
What did you think about them? I heard they were trash, the shipping takes months, and they charge you to return the fragrance at 7 dollars each. Doesn't sound "risk free" to me.

There is definitely a spot for Dossier in the market place, I was somewhat surprised how good the packaging is and the idea of the 2 ml sample to doublecheck you’re happy with the fragrance is a phenomenal idea.

Surprisingly, Ambery Saffron introduced me to the BR540 scent profile, and is the reason I ended up getting real BR540. I honestly just blind bought BR540 based off the Ambery Saffron, and have no regrets. BR540 is an epic fragrance and I don’t think I’ll ever go back to the Dossier. Being able to do a legit side by side is very interesting. When I first smelled 540 after only knowing Ambery, I was intrigued at how similar and different they are. I was not surprised cause I’m familiar with many Aventus clones and the real Aventus, which I’ve had 4 bottles of. It’s one of those things, where you just have to appreciate the craft of niche perfumery. The refined ingredients , the presentation, the layers. Oh man, the layers. Ambery Saffron is rather linear , and mostly resembles the dry down of 540 the whole way through. The opening of 540 is without a doubt untouchable for this category of fragrance. Beyond that, something about the literal composition of Ambery Saffron is headache inducing. In high heat, it can smell swampy. My coworker clever mentioned that the fragrance was giving her a headache, which seems bizarre because at the same time , it does smell kinda good. But something just misses the mark. Cheaper alcohols and bonding agents probably contribute to this. And are more likely to spoil. Also, Ambery Saffron has some peculiar notes added , such as orange, plum, and oakmoss. I think the oakmoss, messes with the build of this fragrance and is better suited for the freshies. As mentioned, BR 540 has a remarkable opening. A bottle of 540 will age perfectly and always get better with time, where as designers and clones usually deteriorate within 3 months. Br540 has more layers, fizziness, and real woods. A niche quality woods note is something you just have to experience with time in a fragrance journey. Just like how many clones can never nail the Woody dry down Aventus leaves on your skin after 2 hours. BR540 was my first unisex marketed fragrance. When I first first first first smelled it after blind buying that bottle. I walked out , opened it, and first first thought was “wow that is kinda girly” . BR540 will make you realize just how polar masculine Aventus is, for sure. The first words that came to my head when smelling BR for the first time were “it smells like makeup” . it reminded me of girlfriends I’ve kissed and made-out with. Not the actual girls, but smells like that “alone with a girl smell”, guys who have had feminine girl friends might know what I mean. I reminded me of a cute clean girl at night. Then after that first blast of a sealed BR540 wore off, for the first time when I smelled the dry down, I understood why this fragrance gets the appraisal it does. It went from makeup/ girl at night-smelling, to that warm spicy woods. And the quality of the woods in BR are one of a kind. The thing about these warm spicy woods, however, is that it reminds me of night. There is nothing that screams day time about this fragrance to me. I will continue to wear BR540 in the day because it’s a beast, but the smell doesn’t inherently produce a day time image in my head. If you’re a frag head , you know what I mean. I guess I’d recommend Ambery Saffron if you’ve never smelled BR540 and are testing the scent profile . But honestly I think Ariana Grande Cloud was closer to BR540 than even Ambery Saffron. Yes Cloud is closer in terms of just linear imitation. If you’re truly into fragrance , everything I said should make sense about how niche perfumery will never be truly replicated. When you find a scent you like, strive for the highest quality version of that. And save the cheapies for just testing things out.
I've owned BR 540, Amber Rouge, Cloud 2.0 and Dossier and I've preferred, without a doubt, the Dossier version of this scent profile. I got a very heavy "band-aid" smell from the OG BR540 and just couldn't stomach it, even though there were things I loved about it. The Dossier version is all the things I love about BR 540 without that "band-aid" smell. I absolutely love it an also love the price-point.
I'm also from Ohio! =D Subbed and belled homie. I just picked up Ambery Saffron, along with 4 other bottles from Dossier, as my first foray into the house. Ambery Saffron smells REALLY good for being so candy-ish, which can be a turn off for me sometimes. It smells straight up like cotton candy, but in a way that is somehow masculine to my nose. I really can't explain why or how it comes off as masculine, but it does. I've not gotten my nose on BR540 yet, but It's good to hear Ambery Saffron is so close to it!

How does Musky Oakmoss compare to Scentual Obessions King of Kings? Many people claim one or the other to be the best clone equally. I hate CDNIM and it confuses me how so many people love it. Probably because I own Aventus. Also which other Dossier clones are the closest to the original? Thanks
Is the musky oakmoss musky at the base? Does it contain good ambroxan? Or is it birchy/earthy at the base like cdnim. If you look at montblanc explorer, it has good amount of ambroxan which makes it very musky and pleasant

Just so you know, BR540 does contain veramoss - a synthetic substitute for Oakmoss. It’s 10% of the fragrance composition.
I picked up the same ones (...well Creed Aventus for Her) and mannnn that Ambrey Saffron 540 dupe is something special. I'm obsessed smells amazing.
