    Very nice. My only suggestion would be to have some glass left on canopy. It is unlikely that it would all have been destroyed in crash..

    That is one heck of a build. You have used products that I never knew existed and as I have no hobby shops inside of 75 miles I wouldn't even know where or how to find them. Even when there was some really good shops, they still never carried things like those. Couldn't see the snake, colourful as it was, but again, I have to say that it was really something else.

      Does somewhere like Andy's Hobby Headquarters ship there, or are the shipping costs prohibitive? I'm moving back to the UK from Asia this week and the price differences are eye watering. I'll certainly miss having three great model shops within an hour of me (albeit over the border in Singapore).

    Really nice job. The weathering on the wreck looks very good, the scenery is super. One thing I might comment about is the lack of more details to the wreck. There would be more stringers coming out of the broken off section of fuselage and tail section. I think the break at the fuselage is too 'clean", the aluminum would be all bent up. The firewall would have piping and wiring coming out of it. Of course it would probably add another 5 or 6 hours to add that in. Sooner or later we get to a point where what we have is good enough. Again, very nice job.

    • @ModelNerd
      @ModelNerd  2 года назад

      Thanks. Yes, I think you're right about the break - there would be far, far more pieces both in the wreck itself and scattered across the landscape. But you're right: at some point we have to call it "finished" :)

    • @ModelNerd
      @ModelNerd  3 года назад

      Thanks John. Yes, I think that's a very fair comment. Even if this had glided down, the aluminium of the wings would have taken a beating. I wanted to do some missing panels too, but the solid resin meant that was too difficult - styrene would have made this easier.

    • @sabrekai8706
      @sabrekai8706 3 года назад +1

      @@ModelNerd I'm surprised that Masterpiece didn't do a better job of the broken off tail. On the outside you can see the rows of rivet which would mean there was a longeron behind the skin. yet they only put in a few pieces of wide flat stock. Close but no cigar. As for the front end, a few bits of round stock and some wire might improve the look, broken engine bearers, pipes, wiring etc. All in all I love it. You put a lot of thought into it and the execution is great.

    • @ModelNerd
      @ModelNerd  3 года назад

      Thanks. Yes, I think you're right - I did consider using foil or something to represent more damage, missing panels, etc, and to generally make the break look less squared off. I think models, like films, are never truly finished - only abandoned.

    Also, this type of diorama can be good use for a kit that would otherwise be a "Shelf Queen" because of poor or over-engineering/manufacturing/parts fit/alignment issues that would demand more aftermarket stuff to fix then the kit was worth.

    Started watching this video yesterday evening but fell asleep while doing so. Now I watched the other half😅
    This is a wonderful diorama showing both violence and peace! The selfmade trees and the wide variety of different plants are so beautiful and a nice contrast to the abandoned and rotten war machine. The big grey stones could have been weathered a little more in my honest opinion, but the water on the other hand is a perfect addition for the overall feeling. I just like this dio!👌🏼

    Amazing build! Really, Really good. The jungle vibe definetly comes over. But you forgot one thing! Animals! I would suggest to add a snake on the wing of the plane to give it some visual interest and also make it interesting to the viewer to search for more animals. Parrots in the trees maybe, would be another great addition and a nice touch of colour in those fifty shades of green and brown.

    Maybe have some of the vines wrapped around the tail or canopy? And some rust?

    • @ModelNerd
      @ModelNerd  3 года назад

      Hi Tim. Looking at the reference pictures none of them showed rust (aluminium doesn't produce rust).

      @@ModelNerd Right i figured that but surely there were some parts that weren't aluminum? But doesn't aluminum oxidizes a little?What about the rivets? Some pieces of the canopy windows? Just a thought. Still an awesome diorama. I have a crappy revell Huey and now you have inspired me to do a diorama with it. Keep on experimenting.

      Yeah, I was quite surprised too, but nothing on the references I saw. Don't worry though, I've got a plan for a very rusty kit coming up :)

      Thanks. The engine detached during the crash. The pilot survived but got lost in the jungle. 🙂
