Why is the UR242 crashing on so many IPad apps lately? For example Flip Sampler or ProMovie Camera and lots more. Other hardware like Zoom does work perfectly.
Fwuzeem Hi, I think I misunderstood the same thing as you did. The extra power supply might be used for activate the interface or just maintain the power of iPad only; iPads will not be charged by UR242.
I have issues recording an active guitar. I use input 1 and activate hi-z but I have clipping problems even at the lowest input volume knob. If I activate the “pad” buttom, not only the volume decreases, but also the sounds quality and the attack itself, which makes this buttom useless. Am I missing something? How can I properly record a guitar with active pickups without clipping issues? Thanks

is the ur44 better than the ur28m? I saw that the ur28m is 24/96khz and the ur44 is 24/192khz.. is that really a big diference? Im using a telefunken ak-47 mk2 mic and a repuert neve desing portico 5017 as preamp.
Hello, yes the UR22MkII offers a bigger audio quality, but the UR29M has more inputs and outputs... and for the average human ear you cannot tell the difference.

+Karem Priscilla ok thanks for answering, but i asked between ur44 and ur28m
Does the DSP mean I can put a compressor effect on my vocals so to prevent peaking from ever happening no matter how high the dynamic range? Or will it still only be applied after recording thus allowing peaking to happen? Hope that makes sense.
Can it be used live, as basic replacement for a mixing desk? (ie, can I use it with 1 mic at xlr input, 1 acoustic guitar at xlr input, stereo playback from PC connected to the back line inputs, and all four inputs come out through the two line outputs? And still record all of this?) Thanks
So, ive connected my Deepmind 12 Desktop (output left and right) into inputs 3 and 4, when i play my deepmind it plays back in mono, how i know this is i referenced it by plugging in my headphones into the deepmind then headphones into my UR242, definitely MONO. Also when i boot up Cubase 8.5 PRO, i get zero sound whatsoever!! Even when i check the devices, MIDI and connections panel to make sure 3-4 is active.. any help would be appreciated.
+Ohnik Produtor Hello, the main difference lays on the connectivity and the DSP features, you can find a detailed comparison chart on the link bellow: www.steinberg.net/en/products/audio_interfaces/ur_series/models.html
Sir, I am from India, can you tell me Steinberg ur22mkii is the best audio interface ? Many people speak of its a low preamp and preamp is very noise .I'm confuse Please tell me honestly Steinbergur22 is best or not ? But I don't want Focousrite interface , I want other
In order to purshase this device I wanted to ask a few question, Does it works as a stand-alone device if I want to plug guitar and play and listen throught headphones, without using PC/Mac? Does it charges the iPad when used throught CCK?
Hello, make sure you have the HiZ switch activated, you could try lowering the gain, if that doesn't work, if the recording is bad, a restoration plug-in is not the real solution.
Do you have a tutorial for real begginers in Cubase 8 Pro? I mean from installing the software and start recording from the real bigginig. The set up, creation of a track and start growing from there. Would you have samething like that?
Do the line inputs in the back bypass the gain circuit? Can I hook up a preamp without having to worry about gain/colour being added from the interface?
Hello, that means you have to download and install the proper drivers for your operating system, you can find them here: www.steinberg.net/index.php?id=downloads_ur242&L=1
Hey, how can i deactivate the monitoring function? I use a condenser microphone (XLR/phantom power - on) to talk to my friends via Teamspeak. The problem is that i permanently hear myself. I really hope you guys can help me. Thanks.
GengarTV If this were a 8 or 16 channel interface then yes, it would definitely need USB 3.0 for more bandwidth because of the volume of simultaneous recording and monitoring. There is a reason why almost all manufacturers don't bother putting USB 3.0 on their smaller audio interfaces and it's not coincidence, it's just cause it's not needed.
Please HELP!!! I have this exact model. I can't monitor myself via headphones. I have headphones that use 3.5mm jacks so I use an adapter to plug my headphone into the audio interface, but I can't hear myself!!! Sometimes I would hear for a few seconds, then it would disconnect and not work!!! What it the problem? Is something faulty? Please help me asap, thank you!!
Hello, please get in contact with the official support through your MySteinberg account. Make sure you have the latest drivers installed and that you have read the operations manual.
Hi Steinberg-People, I just hooked up my iPad Pro to your interface via USB and an Novation Ultranova via Analog Audio (Stereo). Is there any way I could connect an ADDITIONAL Midi-Controller to control the keys of an inter-audio app Synth like the Model 15 App? The only idea I have is connecting a USB hub and then have the "digital out" going to my iPad and the digital in from a USB-Midi Controller. Does that work? Can the Interface keep those usb signals from each other? I'm really new to this and I always forget details after not having tinkered with all this stuff for months.
Our new #UR242 audio #interface will be in stock shortly. Contact your local store or refer to our online shop for stock availability.
wow...
The output gain on the ur22 is 60db I believe. What is the output gain on this model? Thanks (I have a dynamic mic and need a decent amount of gain)
Why is the UR242 crashing on so many IPad apps lately? For example Flip Sampler or ProMovie Camera and lots more. Other hardware like Zoom does work perfectly.
Do you not think the gain range is something potential buyers would wanna know?
Do these plugins work in the DAW Auria?
Steinberg UR242 MK2 ???
Fantastic, looks like a real winner. Now if there's a way to charge the ipad at the same time, I'd be on this instantly
Fwuzeem

Show me the ideal cable needed to connect a phono preamp to that so i can rip vinyl.

I like this interface but often when I'm trying to use the back inputs it's not being recognized by audacity or audition, why?
Hello, can use this interface for podcasting and use ITS INTERNAL FX PROCESS in the MIC inputs for transmit and record in OBS STUDIO? Thank you.

Would this be compatible with the new el Capitan software for mac?
wheres the mix input-daw pot?
A huge difference between this interface and the UR22? The preamps, headphone amplifier and outputs? Should I switch the UR22 for the UR242?
+Ohnik Produtor Hello, the main difference lays on the connectivity and the DSP features, you can find a detailed comparison chart on the link bellow: www.steinberg.net/en/products/audio_interfaces/ur_series/models.html
But about the preamps? I know the headphone amplifier is a lot better, with much more mW sending for the headphone.
+Ohnik Produtor Hello, they are of the same quality grade.
But not all the UR series interfaces sound the same about preamps, the 824 has better preamps in quality than the others, right?
Sir, I am from India, can you tell me Steinberg ur22mkii is the best audio interface ? Many people speak of its a low preamp and preamp is very noise .I'm confuse

Hi, yes, it does work as a standalone unit but first you need to configure it using the included software.
I get a lot of fuzz when I play lower notes with direct line in . Could be the guitar but is there a plugin to cut the noise?
Hello, make sure you have the HiZ switch activated, you could try lowering the gain, if that doesn't work, if the recording is bad, a restoration plug-in is not the real solution.

+Baki Imeri the out puts and inputs.
my UR242 doesn't appear on my midi configuration panel. The light doesn't stop blinking. I have Mac OS 10.10.5
Is my UR242 broken?
Hello, that means you have to download and install the proper drivers for your operating system, you can find them here: www.steinberg.net/index.php?id=downloads_ur242&L=1
Does it Work with Cubase 5 ?
+Parindey The Band Hello, yes it does.
Hey, how can i deactivate the monitoring function? I use a condenser microphone (XLR/phantom power - on) to talk to my friends via Teamspeak. The problem is that i permanently hear myself. I really hope you guys can help me. Thanks.
Why not USB 3.0?
Why USB 3.0? It's only a measly simultaneous 4 inputs and 2 outputs with MIDI. Nowhere near the bandwidth cap for USB 2.0.
Less latency when monitoring through DAW?
USB 3.0 Backwards compatibility
GengarTV It don't make a significant difference in terms of latency, USB 2.0 is already mighty fast for digital audio on a sub 8 track basis.
GengarTV If this were a 8 or 16 channel interface then yes, it would definitely need USB 3.0 for more bandwidth because of the volume of simultaneous recording and monitoring. There is a reason why almost all manufacturers don't bother putting USB 3.0 on their smaller audio interfaces and it's not coincidence, it's just cause it's not needed.
does it work on ableton with no problems ?
Hello, yes, as long as the host supports ASIO it should work, which is the case for the majority of hosts.
do i need to plug in speakers to get the sound of my guitar or can i just use my headphones through the 'phone jack?
Hello, you can just use the phones jack and monitor only with your headphones.
thanks! and what exactly is the HI-Z button for?? i have it on all the time and without it not much input signal seems to be coming in.
Does this has DAC and can it replace my sound card?
Hello, it obviously has analog to digital convertors.
Please HELP!!!

Can I record with 4 microphones at same time if I connect 2 external preamps into the line inputs?
Get the UR44
Yes. But if you haven't bought the preamps yet, go for the UR44. But to be sure, you can record 2 mics and 2 line outputs at the same time.
If case it only compatible with iPads... you can keep it!
hahahahaha - funny. No, it is NOT ONLY compatible with iPads. You may want to rewatch the video
what if you have stereo effect box for your guitar? can you use the line in on the back-side?
this is good lcck

shit i bought the wrong interface from behringer (umc 204hd) , i have to recover money to buy this 1
Wake me up when It's over....
Boring.
4 outputs needed with USB powered connection.
Think producers. Think DJs.
UR28M 6 outs 4 ins, SPDIJ and so on...
Try the UR44
what does the "Input 1: HI-Z" button do?
Hi -Z refers to high impedance, a A Hi-Z switch on input two allows for direct recording of electric guitar or bass without the need of a DI box.
