I'm an Iowa native, I graduated from University of Iowa, and I live in Iowa City. I first became a fan of Iowa women's basketball about 10 years ago. I'm excited to see both the returning players that I've loved in previous years and also this year's new faces - Lucy Olsen and the incredible freshman class.
Started watching Iowa basketball because of Caitlin but still rooting for Hannah, Addie, Sydney, Kylie and the team. Lucy seems like she is fitting in perfectly.
Love Iowa women’s basketball and always will. The culture of Iowa is different than anywhere else. They are the pro league in Iowa and even if there were a pro team here, Iowa Hawkeyes popularity would still beat them. It’s not just basketball, football here is crazy love too.
Scouting the Hawkeyes. Watch Kylie Feuerbach (plays like Lexie Hull) good defense and 3 point sharp shooter. Also Taylor McCabe is another 3 point sharp shooter to watch. Some of the new rookies like Stremlow and Mallegni and Heiden are playing great Watched a lot of Lucy Olsen from last year. Great all around player. Can pull up from anywhere. Reminds me of Paige Bueckers style game.
Feuerbach is a defensive beast. She is very disruptive to the other teams offense. I really like watching her. Always hustling and making plays. They are playing solid 1-5. Should be an exciting season.
@@jonrichardson4641 I was hoping the new coach wouldn't fall into the points in the paint trap so many ex post coaches do. But tonights game looked like all they wanted was points in the paint. As soon as McCabe made a 3 pointer, she got pulled out of the game.
They look great and the team looks like they are really bonded! I became a Hannah fan last year, and lucy is popping off! I'm a hokie fan, but today's game should be a good one.
I'm definitely interested in following Iowa in their new season. I'm really liking the new players, particularly Lucy Olsen. She's got a an exciting playstyle.
Thank you Adrienne. I enjoyed the Show and your commentary. Being a Lifelong Hawkeye, and living up in Minnesota, It’s easy for me to continue following Iowa sports more. However, I will admit, although like many native Iowan’s I knew of Caitlin Clark, but I didn’t really follow Iowa sports of any kind for awhile as I was adjusting the last couple of years To a new career, new location, and also alot of Personal Growth as a Christian as well. So my focus was in kind of a rebuilding phase for my life. My family in Iowa continued to let me know things that were going on there in Hawkeye Country over the last couple of years and that I really need to tune back into watching Caitlin Clark, and the Women’s Hawkeyes Basketball program Because they were really getting attention for all of their success. So I Started tuning back in and watching Full games instead of just highlights, and I was immediately drawn in, and There was no looking back. To say that I was very impressed would be highly understated. Furthermore, my entire life, I was never into basketball of any sort, mens or womens, just football and baseball, which I played and excelled in as an athlete. Anyway, I found myself this year, very excited To begin following the Iowa Womens Basketball program From the very beginning of a New Season. And though I may not be able to catch every game, I can always catch the highlights here and there. I will say that I’m very impressed with the talent on the Iowa women’s basketball team this year. One player I am watching closely, besides Olsen, Stuelke and a few others, is a Player from Wisconsin named Teagan Melligni, Who is very talented and I think will develop into a very great Basketball player. And the entire 2024-25 Iowa Women’s Team is loaded with incredible Talent, And at the very least, it will just be exciting seeing the developments throughout the year of The players themselves as well as That Team itself with Jan Jensen’s first year as well. Where I live here in Minnesota, is kind of in the middle of the state, A drive down to Iowa city is quite a drive from where Iam, , but I would do it just to go to Carver Arena, To take in the whole experience down there, and from what I’ve heard, the Experience in Carver Arena is Incredibly Electrifying and intense with Total Fan Love and Support, its really no wonder that alot of Athletes want to come to Iowa for All it offers, but even as a Born and Raised Hawkeye, knowing the Diehard Iowa Fan Love and Support as Iam One as well, I had no clue how Intense and The Magnitude of Carver Hawkeye Arena during the Women’s Basketball games there, and it was especially so when Caitlin and Kate were there last year too. - Lastly, a Proud kind of Personal thing for me, I always had known Caitlin was Born and Raised in Des Moines also my Hometown too, but After all this time of watching Caitlin, I had never realized, until last year, that Despite the Large generational gap of Me there in early 70’s and Caitlin there early 2000’s that Caitlin and I were also Born and raised in The Same General Neighborhood areas, although my Mom moved alot back then, and though Caitlin’s generation and Mine are many years apart, most of the neighborhoods, schools and areas she grew up in are the same I grew up in as well. Anyway Adrienne, thank you for another great video and topic, God Bless You too Adrienne
I'll be watching!!! I love Iowa women's basketball. It is the most fun style of basketball there is. And the Iowa players play with such joy! Go Hawks!
I bought the BIG10+ subscription on my phone for the season. I’m keeping an eye on Iowa, USC and UCLA. Also, Michigan has freshman phenom Syla Swords that played on Canada Olympic team. I’m really rooting for Iowa and Coach Jensen especially since they weren’t ranked 🎉
It is weird but I still have an attachment to Iowa. That also draws my interest in the other college teams. If the W was more likable I might want to watch the non fever teams.
I watched the exhibition game and the last game They have outstanding ball management and they have some bombers The last game was outstanding, for a brand new group it was terrific
I watched the exhibition game and the first regular season game. I plan to try and catch as many games as I can. I admit that at first, CC not being on the court felt like quite a void, but I quickly came to appreciate the 'new kids' - the freshmen are confident and very skilled, and Lucy has some little flashes of being Clarkesque...in her own way, of course. The returning gals are fabulous... Hannah, Kylie F., O'Grady looks more confident too. Can't wait until Syd's healthy! Watching them WILL be different; scoring will be more widely distributed amongst them all - which makes them all the more challenging to their opponents. Like all the other Iowa fans, I'm all in!! Looking forward to hanging out with y'all!
I’m all in for Iowa. Love that team atmosphere and chemistry. Lucy Olsen looks great…very good fit. She has a high BB IQ, as well. Iowa Has some real talent on their team that have emerged this season. Feuerbach…wow! Pay close attention to her! Her defense is like Lexi Hull x2. I could be wrong, but I thought she got 7 steals in that exhibition game. Stuelke is much more assertive and confident now. She was taking threes in the exhibition game. She also gets the ball at the top of the key and drives in strong now. Adrienne, a couple freshman also look extremely promising. Teagan Mallegni is a natural, and shows no fear shooting 3’s or driving to the hoop. Also, Ava Heinen. One thing I’ve noticed with this team this season is they play with smiles on their faces. They’re obviously gelling well together and enjoying each other. That’s such a breath of fresh air from the “bully ball mentality” of much of the W. Also, they pass the ball well. I think Jan Jensen is doing a good job thus far.
I cancelled cable a couple years ago, however I bought a Roku device a few weeks ago merely so I could follow the ladies. I saw IOWA beat Illinois Northwestern a few days ago. Too bad we can't subscribe to one service to catch all their games.
Yes absolutely I am going to watch the game. I am in Iowa living in Iowa, loving our college women's basketball. One thing about Iowa, we love us some college women's basketball!! Since we don't have a professional team this is where it's at. We have always been a huge basketball state and we also love our high school basketball, to be honest. Go Hawks!!
I’ll be watching Iowa for sure. They have a different style this year, and it looks like it’s going to be fun to watch. Lots of talented players. I’m waiting on your opinion on the Lady Vols.
Native Hawkeye and Iowa City resident. Iowa women's basketball has always been big. This season is already sold out. I think Carver-Hawkeye seats 15000. I see a lot of national commentators saying that Caitlin Clark put Iowa women's basketball on the map. That's just not true. Lisa Bluder was here 20 years, and we have always been in the mix for a Big Ten title. We've always been good we always had big crowds. The state of Iowa itself is renowned for High School girls basketball. The girls' tournament is always a great big deal here in Iowa and has been for 100 years. The fact that Caitlin is from Iowa and stayed here to do what she did made us all very proud. She's the GOAT
If you plan to go to college games just keep in mind. Clear backpacks or don’t bring a backpack. They are also very strict about taking your phone out during games. Good luck and have fun
Yes, look forward to watching one of my favorites is HANNAH STUELKE, Sydney AFFOLTER KYLIE FEUERBACH about the only ones that I really knew during CC time
I will watch the game and join the live. I am mainly watching Iowa for Hannah Stuelke. Very much like Olsen. Her passing though is ÑOT to the CC level.
@@Willard-l7t You are right. But what I am getting at though is I am seeing difficulty in making the most basic passes to a player in the post. I see this as well in the WNBA. Just looked at the Hawkeyes schedule "how to watch" their games. There are more than a half dozen different channels behind a paywall that would have to be subscribed to in order to watch all their games! What a mess!
