    People not trusting God enough for their situation they are still walking in the flesh not walking in the spirit that's something God teaches us through his holy spirit

    Thank you for this, now that you explained this it makes perfect sense. I never struggled with playing a lot in the lottery but would once in a while and would pray about it and ask God if it's his will because I didn't know if it was right or wrong. I never gambled to get fancy things for myself but to open shelters for abused men and women and my husband wants to have one for men and women getting out of prison etc because before I met my husband now I was in an abusive relationship for many years and always prayed for God to change him but one day while in my car listening to preaching I heard him say we all have free will so I got a revelation that only God change him if he wanted it. Six months after my sister was killed in an accident I ended my relationship with him because I was so heartbroken that I missed out on my family because I was trying to do things to always please him and he isolated me from my family. My husband now before we met had a past of growing up in a family that did nothing good were high ranking members of a gang, all this led him down a path that got him in trouble and he didn't want this type of life so while incarcerated he spent a year in segregation spending time reading the bible and for a while when he got out he would go on Christian radio stations and talk about his past and would go and talk to the juvenile detention Centers but his past associations didn't like this and caused him to flee away, he was on probation and so now is in for a violation of probation for leaving. He gets discouraged sometimes because of the attacks he gets from his past but he's still not giving up on the dream of helping others. If you would ever think about it I would wander if you may think about making a little book about these scriptures as far as how the enemy can attack us by not understanding these. I want to point out a book to maybe help you understand where I am going with this called, "A Mind set free ", by Jimmy Evans and if you haven't heard of him he and Robert Morris have a lot of their services on RUclips so you can find but in his book he talks about our thoughts and how if we don't stay in scripture and know them when we come up against an attack like Jesus did and Quoted scripture then we can be defeated because that is our weapon of Warfare. I would recommend looking into these please because I believe after listening to this that it would be a good book you could make and if I could ask that you look into ECS which is a place that sends out bible studies to incarcerated people to teach them God's words.

      Thank you for the kind words, Shauna. Is ECS the same as the "Write-way Prison Ministries, Inc" that you referenced later in your comments? Do you have some sort of association with Write-way?

    Food can be addictive...there is a weight watchers too...in fact diet scams and plans are all over the place..so should I just not eat? Will that send me to hell?

      Hi BJ. You are absolutely correct that food can become addictive. Matthew 4:4 indicates that food is necessary to sustain life though - is gambling also necessary in this same way? If food is necessary but some people can develop an unhealthy relationship with it, both 1 Corinthians chapters 6 and 9 would seem relevant - we must manage our relationship with food (i.e. not be "mastered" by it as described in 1 Cor. 6:12) in order to avoid sin.

    Stack market is a gamble

    • @RiverRidgechurchofChrist
      @RiverRidgechurchofChrist  5 лет назад

      The stock market certainly involves speculation about the future performance of a company, but owning stocks also includes owning a stake of the company (and often voting rights, etc). This is ultimately a matter of opinion, but many see this as an important distinction compared to gambling. Gambling, of course, doesn't confer ownership of anything but the rights to the wager itself.
      Certainly though, a person could be guilty of greed via their stock investments just like they would be via gambling.

      @@RiverRidgechurchofChrist Saludos all the people I know that spend a dollar or two in the lottery are good people and live a normal life sometimes us like Christian's focus so much in the little things thanks for sharing.

      Hola Aron. We can agree that, if you are dealing with a non-Christian who appears to live a balanced life, this isn't the subject to start with (Matt. 23: 23). That said, I try to be very careful to not speak for God and let Him dictate what is important rather than attempting to push my values on Him (John 7:16-18). If everyone agrees that their relationship with God is of great importance, then it be easy to earnestly evaluate something as trivial as lottery tickets :)

      I wouldn't saying investing being gambling! There is risk but you are investing into something to make a profit. I buy and sell computers sometimes I make a bad investment in one and I loose. But I did pay for the computer. So they are different. Not true gambling like casino Lottery ticket betting on sports games!
