i feel like conan is more genuine when talking with steven compared to other guests. no guard, no fluff, but like a real friendship vibe. great chemistry!
Well, they were naked together. Roflol. How many people that Conan has interviewed has he been naked with? Roflol. In all seriousness, I think it's because Steven projects out a calming and sincere image. So, Conan mirrors that.
During one of so many interviews, a reporter constantly compared Minari to a Korean film Parasite. Steven corrected the reporter by saying that Minari is an American story and an American film, not a Korean film. There are so many unique and beautiful stories of immigrants in this country and they ARE American stories, our heritage. Thank God for the arts for its nature and purpose to beautifully portray American stories through various mediums such as film!
Someone else also tried to compare parasite with Minari, it seemed like he went in to watch minari, with the expectation of what he felt when he watched Parasite. I was like, why? Even the genres seem so different. Parasite, was like a comedy/ thriller set in Korea. Minari seems more like a indie film, based on a Korean American family and capturing the bits of their lives as immigrants in the US. I guess some people think because there is Korean speaking in both, that parasite and Minari will be similar...
I’ve seen Steven making the rounds on all the talk shows and he just seems so much more comfortable with Conan. I guess once you go to a Korean bathhouse together that wall of awkward just comes crumbling down
I went to a Korean spa here in the US with my friends a few years back. They’re around if you look. It is a real bonding experience that’s for sure 😂 (the naked bath part is separated by gender thank the Lord).
In Korea we say if you want to get more intimate and closer you to your friends, you should go to a spa together or eat together. It's proven that spa together really works well even out of Korea .
I heard that he tried to change up the way that he spoke Korean for the film. I bet that would so interesting to hear as someone who can speak and understand Korean fluently!

that was their most memorable experience. I think I do that with my old friends too. "Hey, remember when we both forgot to pay the restaurant and just left?" That was my most memorable experience with one of my old friends when we both assumed one of us paid for the food, and just left without actually paying. We always mentioned that whenever we see each other.
I might be wrong but it seems like Steven and possibly even Conan are nearly tearing up for the last part of this. It would seem strange, but you can tell it's because Conan is just so proud of his friend and Steven is so grateful for Conan's honest support. Love to see it. Great couple of dudes.
I kind of felt that too. Not sure about tearing up but they tried to be playful after they said supporting words to each other, just like good friends do when they express their love to each other and then try to avoid the awkwardness.
