As Seb points out, this is an edited version of her performance, and you can see a longer version on a BBC website if you live in the UK (or have access to UK TV).
These gloves were developed initially at MIT by the Opera of the Future tech group. Imogen is the perfect artist/vehicle for displaying this new technology, her artistic vision combined with complete mastery of the technolgy. Brings to mind Laurie Anderson's early experiments with the percussion/MIDI body suit.(Walk Normal tour).
For sure the glove system that Ms. Heap is demonstrating was developed by herself and her team. However, Imogen herself, in a recent Wired video, credits the MIT team and Ellie Jessop with inspiring her to design the current system she's using. I think even Ms. Heap would agree that it would be remiss not to acknowledge the groundbreaking work of the Opera of the Future group and Ms. Jessop in particular. Imogenius Heap. Because she's before all a huge ARTIST.
Congratulations for a great technological project with a very artistic result

This has to be the most amazing thing ever!!!
Congratulations, Seb!
RIP Michel Waisvisz, search, he innovated in this area, beginning in 84, credit due.
I love her!

BRILLIANT!!
Wow Immi, that is amazing! ;)
can someone upload the full performance pleaseeeee?
The BBC website has a full performance video and the description says it's an extended outtake (but I can't get it to play).
this was full performance, it's a science show, they were aiming to present the idea, not her.
A musical evolution ;)
Imogen Heap is one handsome dude.
Imogen HYPE.... 'nuff said.
Wait 'til Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood get a hold to this.
Great.
Is Imogen Heap, no Heaps
That was ... Just as beautiful as Major Kusanagis birth at the beginning of Ghost in the Shell. O_O
How much are the musical gloves?
wow :0)
music is dance now
Ironically, not quite.
I'm sure they aren't even in production. What exists is probably what she is wearing and that's all right now.
