I love going to Chinatown. When I lived in SF in 1967 I went there very early in the morning. It was so interesting all the store owners were getting their vegetables . No tourists.

I bet Chinatown was pretty quiet and peaceful back then...
San Francisco in the '60s was NICE.

The whole entire goddamn UCSF campus is HAUNTED, and that ain't NO joke... 😳
Please BE WARNED, that the upper floors of the main building and medical center are COMPLETELY HAUNTED to the core, by many long-dead patients and former staff members who used to stay or work there. Anybody who has worked at UCSF for a decent number of years and knows the place pretty well, has probably also heard of the 'rumors' going on about those UPPER FLOORS; where the maternity ward or intensive care nursery is/was located. That whole area up there, is NOTORIOUSLY HAUNTED by all of those unfortunate young women who tragically DIED during childbirth. Dying while giving birth is already tragic enough; but dying when you're also at a young age is grounds for a HAUNTING, and practically GUARANTEES it! I heard it has gotten SO BAD over the years, that even MULTIPLE EXORCISMS didn't really help, and they just kept it mostly empty for storage now. It is VERY eerie up there. You can hear and see things that are NOT even supposed to be there. Just imagine; seeing ghostly apparitions of former patients or staff walking about in the hallways, and then suddenly disappearing right through the walls, as if it was nothing! Imagine, encountering these 'entities' and then witnessing them just disappear right infront of you! Many nurses and cleaning staff are NOT willing to work in there or go up alone by themselves. Especially at NIGHT. They have a GOOD VALID reason to be SCARED; cuz the paranormal activity is pretty HOT up there. There's like HUNDREDS of ghosts around! I've seen at least 2 ghosts myself while I was visiting UCSF in recent years. On the 5th or 6th floors I believe, I saw a strange-looking surgeon and a weird cleaning lady. I did not interact with them, but I did notice them because they somehow caught my attention. When I first saw them, I was actually in a BIG hurry to locate a relative who was being treated in the ICU that week after suffering a massive stroke. I was running a bit late, so I thought nothing much of it. They seemed completely solid and looked just like normal ordinary staff people going about their daily business. So like I said, I just completely ignored them. Then a few weeks went by, when I finally had time to relax and I started to think back on the incident. It did struck me kinda odd, that the clothes which they were wearing looked rather OLD; like they were from the 1940s or 1950s. I also recalled that they both had like a weird, creepy vibe about them. They did seem kinda strange and 'outta place' compared to all the other staff people who worked there. Then it finally dawned on me, that those 2 strange-looking people I saw weeks ago were actually GHOSTS... I didn't want to believe it, but that nagging feeling was just there. And needless to say, I didn't sleep very well for many nights afterwards. I felt an intense feeling of FEAR overcome me, and I was really afraid of going back there! The former Jewish Home and The Laguna Honda Hospital are also haunted by former patients and long-dead Indians, who were buried on the grounds. You'll keep getting all these weird, creepy vibes whenever you visit those 2 places. I've had friends and relatives who have stayed in both of those facilities before, and they ALL have claimed that they saw weird things like floating heads and ghostly apparitions; appearing in their rooms very late at night at around at 3AM. They have SEEN, what appeared to be like pale ghostly faces peering through the fans and ventilation ducts. Glaring right at them with some very scary eyes! What's worse, is that they would show up EVERYNIGHT and just remain there; watching you INTENTLY with their scary-looking eyes without ever moving or making a sound, until the sun comes up. Disembodied voices, and the laughter of children were coming from outta NOWHERE. Loud, noisy construction or maintenance work going on during the early wee hours of the morning; when the whole place is supposed to be QUIET and when most of the staff are off duty. Oh, and those wheelchairs that they loan to you during your stay are 100% HAUNTED as well. Many patients have claimed, that those wheelchairs will either move entirely on their own, or would sometimes appear as if SOMEBODY was sitting on them. Somebody who was NOT even supposed to be there! Chairs and furniture in the patient rooms would get moved around at night. The showers and faucets would often run by themselves. TVs would get turned on/off, even when NOBODY was in those rooms. Blankets would get yanked. Patients who were sound asleep, would suddenly get attacked or tossed right outta their beds by an unseen force. Also, things like clothes and personal items kept going missing while they stayed there. The nurses and staff who work there are FULLY-AWARE of the hauntings, but they are NOT allowed to talk about it with anyone. Does anybody else here know ANYTHING about those haunted locations? Any of you care to share YOUR scary experiences with us?

Located in Nob Hill, not too far up the hill from Chinatown, there is a dead-end alley located on Salmon Street; where there is an apartment that is supposeably VERY haunted... 😳
That alleyway is pretty quiet and empty during the day, but very dark and ominous during the night.
I have passed by that alley on numerous occasions, and have always felt kinda uncomfortable about that place.
I heard something about it from one of my dad's friends who used to live around there when he was young.
Rumor has it, that way back in the '70s, a Chinese man came home from work late one night and suddenly lost his SHIT.
He grabbed a meat cleaver, KILLED his wife and his son, and then afterwards he committed suicide.
Nobody knows WHY he did that, nor WHAT made him lose his mind.
It is said, that the apartment has been haunted ever since that tragedy happened.
Buddhist Monks were constantly hired to exorcise and cleanse the place of its evil, but to NO avail.
Some of the locals have speculated, that the apartment is probably CURSED; due to its location having some VERY BAD feng shui vibes.
That apartment still remains haunted to this day, and NOBODY ever wants to rent or live in it.
When I first heard that story, it really gave me the CHILLS...
I would NOT try to venture out there if I were you!

I've heard mostly from SF Chinatown residents who all have lived in the area for many years/decades, say that the Chinese Hospital (東華醫院) located on Jackson Street is NOTORIOUSLY HAUNTED... That building is at least 100 years old. So many people have DIED there, that the ghosts virtually outnumber the living residents in all of Chinatown itself! Ghosts roaming in the hallways, then suddenly disappearing into solid walls, voices of long-dead patients calling out to the nurses who used to care for them; and some of those nurses are also dead themselves, BTW. Corpses moving around on their own in the morgue room, cold windy/drafty spots ect. Most of the doctors, nurses, and staff who work there are prolly fully well-aware of the hauntings, but dun ever bother askin' them too many questions cuz they're not really gonna be willing to talk openly about it. If you really need to know, then ask the nearby neighbors and residents instead. It will also help alot if you can speak some Chinese (or just bring a friend who can help translate). That creepy old hospital being haunted is pretty common knowledge, and most SF Chinatown residents would no doubt know ALL ABOUT IT. The uppermost floors of that hospital (now converted into a HUGE filing storage area) is fulla strange and unexplainable paranormal activity, and is generally considered to be a VERY CREEPY place. You simply DO NOT want to be all alone up there by yourself at night! If you ever try to go up there alone, you will be overwhelmed with FEAR. You get this weird, overwhelming 'heavy' sorta feeling; like as if you're being WATCHED by THOUSANDS of pairs of eyes, just GLARING right at you when there's obviously NOBODY else around up there. The things is, you can almost SEE or HEAR them but ya just can't. You can only SENSE them all around you. The air just feels hella thick and heavy, like as if you were in a very CROWDED-ASS room filled with LOTSA people. Just an overall creepy and intensely spooky sensation all around. VERY SCARY indeed. Some say, that you tend to lose all track of time while you're up there, and that you'll somehow just keep getting lost and have a really hard time finding your way outta there; VERY SCARY indeed if ya actually think about gettin' LOST in there. Other things also to consider, is if you look closely at all of the apartment buildings and homes located on the outside of that quiet alleyway on the back or opposite side of the hospital (on the right); you'll prolly notice that most of the residents who live in that alleyway (presumably Chinese folks mostly) hang up 'BAGUA MIRRORS' outside of their front doors and windows. Many of those windows themselves are also boarded up, and many have like these Chinese fengshui charms and protective talismans posted on them to ward off any evil spirits from entering the homes. I think that just by having all those superstitious items hanging around like that, should speak for themselves!
