  • 40% of stroke survivors have aphasia. It can affect a person’s ability to understand speech.
Learn how stroke researchers, Kerry Dathan and Professor Rosemary Varley, are involved in a ground-breaking research study funded by the Stroke Association to develop a new type of aphasia therapy called UTILISE.
This new research is transforming the lives of people with aphasia, enabling them to have improved everyday conversations and hold on to who they are.

Hi, researchers, good morning. I am from the Philippines. I am 42 years old and I had the Wernicke's Aphasia from 2019. I am in the speech therapy that I really want now to go back in the law school. Thank you so much.

We're terribly sorry that this has happened. Everyone's recovery journey is different, so it may take a different amount of time.

    Hai, am a speech therapist.
Could you plz tell the name of the app ?

In its current form, UTILISE is a face-to-face therapy, which limits how much time people can spend doing it. Kerry will be testing an app-based version of UTILISE that can be used remotely.
