- arcadeheroes.com - What has been my #1 earning game at the arcade is soon headed to the Nintendo Switch, and with that announcement from the Nintendo Direct earlier in the week, a lot of you are looking for game footage. Previous footage that I'd captured was subpar, mainly on the audio (as a note, no matter what capture device I use there seems to be a bit of video artifacting taking place, but this is not present in the actual game). This video solves that, and present to you the complete game with all five courses. Unfortunately, there is no "ending" to the game like the classic Cruis'ns had, not even a credits sequence.
For everyone interested in the Cruis'n franchise, I will be recording an interview this next week with Eugene Jarvis, producer on all 4 Cruis'n arcade games. We'll discuss the franchise from concept to completion and I'll see what he can say about the upcoming Switch port.

I love that this game is getting so much appreciation! I see so many people excited for it to hit consoles when I honestly expected most people to hate on the announcement. If the arcade racing community supports this then we could possibly open up some doors for other franchises to come back or even see new ones created.
Consoles? Yeah, on Switch only. The company that made the entire Cruisn series is owned by Nintendo.
Why would you expect people to hate this coming to consoles? Arcade games are better because theyre designed to be quick fun - if they werent good they wouldnt make much money in arcades. This game is much more fun than something drab like forza, the announcers give arcade games a better atmosphere

Man talk about childhood nostalgia, the Crusin' series was a BIG part of my childhood back in the 90's. Especially Crusin' USA and Crusin' The World. So many memories of playing those games at mall arcades, Pizza places, and eventually on my N64. It puts a big goofy smile on my face to see the series return!
From arcade sensation to a must buy Nintendo Switch game! Cruis'n Blast is gonna be the *BEST* arcade based racer!!!!

This already looks like a Cruis'n game from the arcade physics to the outrageous tracks. And of course Cruis'n also had licensed vehicles like the Dodge Viper and the Ferrari Testarossa. It's great to see that this game didn't turn away from its roots. And even cooler is that Cruis'n Blast is coming to the Nintendo Switch. There should be a Cruis'n arcade collection with Cruis'n USA, Cruis'n World and Cruis'n Exotica

I don't think the cars in the old games were actually licensed. I remember they had made up names and some like the Supra in Crusin' World had a split rear window I guess to make it a little different from the real thing while other cars were exactly the same just with the badges removed. In fact in World, one car looked like a Porsche in the arcade version but was made more generic in the N64 port. I guess car companies didn't care as much back then. They are all properly licensed in the new game though.

Changes from the Switch version:
New tracks were added (But they mostly have the same layout as the original arcade tracks)
The image feature was removed
Both Switch and Arcade have vehicles exclusive to their ports (Though one of the Arcade exclusives was removed because of the Lamborghini license)
The HUD is different
The Switch version had a more robust system for upgrades with in-game cash you could earn and all vehicles could be leveled up to V5 with each level up adding a new upgrade for purchase
The upgrades don't do much in the Switch version (As far as I'm aware)
Rainbow smoke was added for when you drift in the Switch version
Checkpoints were removed and the announcer doesn't say a word during races
The "Blast!" feature could be charged mid-air and stored which isn't possible in the Switch port
Arrow indicators (Or whatever they are called) were removed from the Switch port
Keys were added onto the tracks in the Switch port which could get you more vehicles (Cash pickups are also on the tracks in the Switch port)
The effects used when finishing races are different and a trophy is displayed if you place within the top 3 in the Switch port
The camera goes into a fixed position at the results screen and Heli, Roll and Flip were merged into a single stunt category in the Switch port
Takedowns are possible in the Switch port
You earned cash at the end of races in the Switch port instead of having time shaved off (I already mentioned the cash so I will quickly move along)
The continue screen for obvious reasons was removed in the Switch version
Some details are missing in the Switch version (Like the animals at the start of Madagascar)
What an absolute riot for a game. The fact this got a whole 5 secs of announcement in the Nintendo Direct kinda points to how out-of-touch either Nintendo America or Nintendo Japan (or both!) can be. Nintendo needs more stuff like this with this kind of energy.

Unfortunately, it's not that they're out of touch. It's that we're in the minority of people who still love this kind of game. Put this head to head with any of the mainline realistic car racing sims and it loses in sales, guaranteed. I don't say this as an insult to the game. I'm just thankful that it's getting a console release at all. The era where fun trumps realism is long-gone in this industry. Nintendo is often the exception to this rules, so I'm not surprised it's coming to Switch.

I love everything about this game. So much personality and energy. Can't wait to play this on Switch as loved other games in the series. Here is hoping that they also add more content to the switch version.
Thanks for this capture, it's very nice quality. I'm usually lukewarm on the Cruis'n franchise, but this one feels bigger/wilder than most. I've really enjoyed the few credits I've had with it, and am looking forward to the Switch release.

there's 8 bonus cars too
just 5 tracks (Death Valley, Madagascar, London, Rio, and Singapore)
SWITCH:
5 more main cars, two old Corvettes, and old Cadillac, a Camaro, and a 370z, not sure on the bonuses other than the unicorn and ATV

So I've been binging the Switch version since its release. So much damn fun! That said, it's amazing how many visual differences there are between it and the arcade one. The arcade version has so much more detail, it's stunning. I'm going to need to go back out to the arcade to experience it again, as well as test my skills I picked up from the Switch game!
This will easily be the best racing game on the Switch. Fast RMX is a great futuristic racing game, but the Switch really needs a great classic arcade racing game, and Cruis'n Blast is going to fill that void.
Thankfully the Switch version will have more stages!

Looking at this after playing it on the switch, the arcade looks better. Better lighting and affects and cleaner presentation overall
Plus the Switch version is straight up missing a good number of details, like the cows in Death Valley or those parade things in Rio de Janeiro.
@@RoRoCraziness Yea I noticed that too! Now I can understand the cows as Nintendo wouldn’t be cool with that with the home release but the parade caravans on the Rio track is odd. Why are arcade conversions still an issue in 2021?!!!

✓Switch is just a console,the fact the game is fired up to live the true Cruis'n Blast experience,you don't wanna spoil the experience with the arcade by not standing next to the machine,do you?
✓The fact speedometer is different,details are missing is a helpful way to not make arcades lose their audience,if nobody ever seen this game in their local arcades,the people will one day táke a little taste of the true Cruis'n Blast,isn't a loss for both worlds,more than that,the sensorial experience will be in balance
If that happened,the cabinet wouldn't even be needed…so it's better leave like this,arcade is a place where the real excitement comes from,you would share the fun of Cruis'n Blast with everyone around you,while on Switch you're just on your own bed playing it just to yourself at home…it's not the same thing

More tracks. Vehicle selection is insane with real cars and the weirdest things like an Unicorn, a tank, a double decker bus, a f'n triceratops, and straight out of Dr. Evil's playbook, a shark with a frickin laser beam.

On a side note, I never noticed how Raw Thrills cheaped out on the soundtrack and just used the Cruis'n Blast theme song instrumental for Singapore. lol.
Do you believe the singer who belongs for this game is from my country?Yes,if you see along with Singapore,the city of Rio de Janeiro(where *Gabriela* de Almeida Rinne) is where she was born,and her track does 10 years in existence,the theme really makes all the sense for this game

NGL, I now wish Raw Thrills port the other arcade titles to home consoles like Walking Dead, Terminator Salvation, and Aliens Armageddon since Cruis’n and Big Buck Hunter had its ports.
Only thing is that it’s going to be locked to 30fps. Not a deal breaker, and at least it’s getting a great home port, unlike numerous Sega racers. Looking forward to getting it when it drops!
How about 60fps? According to a 25-second snippet from last week's Nintendo Direct, Blast will be presented at a blazingly fast 60 frames per second!
@@TonyKanameKuran are you sure? I had a watch again and no mention of frame rate. If it does run at 60 I’ll be like wow never thought the switch could handle it. Bear in mind that the arcade came out roughly the same time as the Switch, if not later, so I’ll be very surprised the switch can handle it.

Why are the arcade versions so much better than the console ports
The tech running arcade games have always been two steps ahead of home consoles and with the Switch console getting released around the time this arcade version came out Nintendo’s console power was already at a disadvantage of what it could achieve with this port. Maybe if the Switch came along a few years after this arcade version released they probably would have been able to achieve a bit more graphically with the port, but I still think it would’ve struggled.
I'm not as knowledgeable as GiGa BanG in Arcade vs Console, but I can confirm that visually from emulation as I saw most of the time even in the 80's games the arcade versions of the games vs consoles not only looked better, but had so much more content so I'm almost sure he, or she is probably right that arcades are much more powerful than they seem/let on. With that said the switch has always had crap hardware inside, so regardless of how we see it the switch is already struggling to get many games ported so a lot of the time you'll see companies/dev's heavily turn down the visuals to run on the switch's already over aged tech.

I was excited when I saw this. I always play this at Dave and Busters. For the longest time I couldn’t figure out why this wasnt on a home console
Well you got your wish Cruis'n blast is coming out to the Nintendo switch on September 14th next month so now you get your chance of playing it on the Home console for the switch
Switch has more tracks but lost some cars like Lamborghini due to licensing costs, and the arcade has more detail. I found a site with the arcade game for download because the screenshots show the arcade version, the timers, speedometer and stuff look different. I'm trying to mod an Arcade1up OutRun into Blast. I even have a huge Blast arcade topper I got on ebay last year, I have my OutRun by a sloped ceiling, the topper wedges nicely between the cab and the ceiling, all I need to do is secure it with strong two way tape or velcro. I was planning to use a Switch with a Switch wheel. I'm going to have my own Blast sit down arcade at home for a fraction of the cost of the arcade game (I paid $700 for the OutRun in Nov 2020 when it came out) the topper was a couple hundred, the Switch was around $200, game $30, steering wheel $120, and I'm getting custom graphics made for under $200 I believe. Arcade game costs around $11,999.00. I have a few other Arcade1ups like TMNT in Time, The Simpsons, T2, I got Killer Instinct Pro, SFII Big Blue, Pac-Man countercade and collectorcade, MKII collectorcade, New Wave Toys SFII, Dragon's Lair, Q*bert,, MyArcade SFII, Sega Astro City mini from Japan, Toyshock Haunted House pinball.
If they could port Maximum Tune 5 or 6 to consoles and PC, that'll be great.

The first version of Cruis'n Blast. They've recently received an upgrade to remove Lamborghini's from the line-up and replace them with Chevrolet's.

Raw Thrills lost the License. There's nothing to do. At least we can be glad to have this Game on the Switch with or without Lamborghini.
@@all-stargamer3333 Correct, looks like they only had a five year license with Lamborghini and the game didn't make enough profit to warrant extending it. Thankfully, in the future we'll have emulation and MAME to the rescue with both versions of the game. :P

I'd love to play Hydro Thunder on the Switch, but this looks great too. These classic arcade games with ridiculous scripted events are very amusing in short play sessions.
Amazing Direct Capture for this Game! I thought of doing the same thing but I knew someone would've already done it with the audio stream included. Btw if your game runs with a GTX 1050ti video card instead of the 750ti then you will be able to record the game with the HDMI audio stream which will remove that background noise. What capture card did you use for the Direct Capture?
Thanks! I'm using an AverMedia Live Gamer Portable 2 Plus. Unfortunately, it only works in PC mode if downrezzed to 720p30 on most arcade games, otherwise there are massive video stream issues, so I have to use the SD mode from what I've found so far. Also not the best, but better than nothing. Hadn't tried the HDMI audio stream yet for this one, but perhaps in the future. We'll also have to see how Minecraft is once I get that.
@@arcadeheroes_coinop That makes more sense, Sometimes with my Elgato HD60s recording at 1080p60 on some arcade machines like for FnF Drift they get Jagged Edges and looks a bit blurry compared to the game being recorded at 720p60, If your using 720p30 then try setting the bitrate from default 3500 to 7500 and see if it makes the video capture and quality better overall. Most newer versions like Cruis'n Blast v1.27 does have the HDMI audio drivers installed with the video card. Some video cards doesn't have HDMI so I use a DVI-A to HDMI adapter. DVI-A port has 4 tiny pins that are used to output Audio throughout the DVI port and goes to the HDMI Signal which makes a lot of games work with HDMI audio instead of just plugging it in a HDMI port. I'm not trying to make this too long to read but I deal with the PCs for arcade games like these all the time so I know a lot about these and how they work.
@@DewRagen No problem - I've used DVI-A before, although it's been uncommon on the games I have in particular (my exA-Arcade uses that, although no point since that has HDMI). On all the RT games, the image begins to hang then become a massive artifacted & unplayable mess. I've been meaning to do a capture like this with The Walking Dead and Aliens Armageddon as well, but that problem got in the way...I'll just have to do the SD card and live with it :)

It looks fun, I was Initially thinking it wouldn't be worth the price on Switch though for only 5 tracks but then I saw that they were adding around two dozen tracks to the Switch version, I'll definitely pick it up now.

Singapore and Rio de Janeiro speaks the origin of a fenomenal carioca singer which soundtrack has been in international telephonic companies(T Mobile and Sprint) waiting calls before arrive to this game.The game was born with 3 years release,and now it's getting 10 years old
Just found it in the end of 2022 thanks to gameplays of Cruis'n Blast here and if you check the lyrics and her music video,you'll find out Raw Thrills didn't think twice and threw it with intentions to place it with the game content
A life lesson that even this game has to teach us;How to be a *peaceful fighter challenging earthquakes,tornados,storms,huge heights,dinosaurs,deep water,glass breaking,objects about to smash your car* and the speed the game submits is to feel that *thrill* which makes the company named *Raw Thrills* to be involved(that builds the sense why you're mostly supposed to enjoy the paths rather than blocking,intimidating CPU cars and spending energy and time in stuff that never ever will have solution.That's why since Undertale and Dead Heat,I don't use violence artifacts to be first(only when intended my chances won't be enough)
You'll come in first place by not doing wheelies or nitros,also in real life sports not care for enemies or take friends in competitions as your literal enemies,not blame them even if you won't get new records or highscores.Learn that not every enemy is to be destroyed,the innocents are just paid to be cobayas and mules of dictators and predators,system and programs enslaved command lines,and the most important:Learn the whole architecture of the rules and paths of winning and take it on your mind,when just arriving in the competition,have fun but secretly keep this note and don't pull it off your mind until it's 100%

I played this once but didn’t catch on to the fact that you can charge your boost meter with stunts. Seems like a cool risk/reward mechanic.
I love both announcers on Cruisn blast. They should say drivers, start your engines. NASCAR should let the Cruisn blast announcers deliver the most famous words in motor sports. It would be awesome if you could do a video of the announcers on Cruisn blast and ask them to say in their Cruisn blast voices, Drivers, start your engines.

All cars have the same top speed of only this. Not sure if nitro or jumps have top speed differences though, but I doubt.

I literally just played tis game at the local Dave and Buster's and it was a lot of fun. Especially the Singapore stage it's wild with all that lightning. I used the same car too.

The only other Cruisn games were on GBA and Wii and you really didn't miss much with those, the N64 ones were better.
It’s a real shame the switch version didn’t get the Lamborghini license and not hearing the announcer doing the races like the arcade version. Maybe when we’re getting an update for this game aim for the switch it might be better you never know but still such a bad ass game for switch users

Only 5 levels? Sad it didn't have a full race mode like others with 12 to 14 levels.

Spent all day playing the Switch release, had to come back to this video to see how much Nintendo of America's censorship brigade ruined a lot of the soul of this game. No announcer/commentary, vehicles removed, traffic vehicles censored, tracks censored. Like, seriously, running through parade floats is offensive enough NOA removed that ability in Rio?
Also gonna have to check out a Direct Capture of Super Bikes 3 because they recycled tracks from other Raw Thrills games to include in CB switch release. Wonder how they were censored.

I wonder if there will be laps added to the home console version? I understand why there not there for the arcade but it's going to get stale really quick with races being this short playing at home. Also, I can't to see some side by side footage closer to release
I've made this point about arcade ports becoming stale really quick on consoles(design philosophies are quite different these days), but that's also why Raw Thrills has added many more tracks to the whole thing. I guess we'll see...
@@arcadeheroes_coinop I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for the Switch port to be good. I really do enjoy a an arcade style racer when it's done right. The last one I thoroughly enjoyed and couldn't stop playing for awhile was Horizon Chase Turbo

Hoping they re-do all of the USA, World, and Exotica tracks for Switch version. I'd pay for those DLCs if they are not part of the additional 25-ish tracks. Bring back the vehicles from those three games as well.
This game plays like a true Cruis'n game and not like the reskin of Fast and Furious we got a few years back.
