People say the same thing about Jeff Dunham and his puppets: "If you take away his puppets, he's not funny." But he's a ventriloquist comedian. That's what he does. It would be like saying, "If you take away Jerry Seinfeld's observational humor jokes or Steven Wrights non-sequiturs, they're not funny." That's.What.They.Do. That's their style. So of course they'll suffer if you force them to do something they haven't spent decades crafty or to do a style of humor they aren't as passionate about.
Finally some people who make sense around here. Yeah I've seen him do that show without props as well if you're talking about the one on Comedy Central. The guy is actually really quick and witty, like all comics need to be to get anywhere. I'm not the biggest fan of his usual style of prop comedy, but it doesn't mean it's not funny. I was buying a homeless dude a beer and pizza in Vegas and my wife ran in and said carrot top is out there and wants to meet u. He said your wife saw me and told me what u were doing and I had to shake your hand. He was very genuine and kind for giving me that moment. Thanks carrot top

I met him almost 20 years ago when I was working catering at charity benefit in NYC. He was very nice and was chatting with with the staff afterwards. As I shook his hand I told him I genuinely loved his "Chairmen of the board" movie when I was kid. Without missing a beat he says "Great! That brings it up to five whole people who did, but my mom doesn't count!". Haha
Carrot Top lives in my neighborhood of Las Vegas and I run into him everywhere! He's extraordinarily friendly and willing to take pics. I last saw him with his dog at the vet's. I wish him continued success!

My parents got divorced in the early 90s when i was just a kid. My life was absolutely awful, and my mom left and took everything and my dad, bro and i were forced to move into a musty old basement at my grandpas house that was straight out of the 50s. Totally beat down but we had a pool table that i slept on and played pool on, and an old black and white 13" zenith tv. Thats all i had in the world for a while and man, carrot top was on constantly. He turned a horrible time in my life into something i could find laughter in. Love that guy. He got me through some bad times.
