Thought I recognized the building, used to go to college and live there. Nice to see you are cleaning up and fixing up the place. I hate seeing old buildings just rot away.
ambitious project for sure, I wish you luck, It would be nice to be young again & able to take on such a task. I guess I will watch you instead, thanks for sharing
I see a great opportunity. Get the building structure inspected and then make apartments from the second floor to the sixth floor. Do what you can when you can.
Nice find Anthony. This is going to make a great shop, storage and possible rental space once it gets cleaned up. Mega work ahead, but you can do it!!!
Well, congratulations and my deepest sympathies. Been there done that with a large old building. Yours is way bigger than my project but the first thing I ran into was the City. The building was in disrepair for many years, then when I purchased it the city wanted to have it all repaired immediately. The roof as yours was in need of major repair and also the windows as mine were broke out by kids also. As I was doing repairs the city didn't think I was doing it fast enough so they condemned the building. Had to hire a attorney, structural engineer and a commercial architect to do prints of the building to make it up to code. Sent 10's of thousands of dollars on those guy's instead of doing repairs. Finally got all the things done with a lot more to do. Good luck it will be great when complete. Get the elevator fixed first and sell the pallet wood off for some cash, your going to need it.
A guy in Springfield did a similar project, he ran his business on the lower level and on the upper levels he turn those into inside storage units and made a killing.
G'day Anthony, it's Mark from Australia. WOW that is a huge & exciting project, looking forward to following your adventure. Good luck & all the very best.
Yuppie Condos on those top floors... "Build to suit". Their money. Their contractor. But you'll have to fix the elevator... Great building. Love to have it here.
Wow. Just WOW. You have your life right there. Good luck and we'll be watching. After you get the elevator working and all the pallet wood out you can rent out floors. Bring in some $$$
Tony that is so awesome, YOU OWN A HUTCH SKY SCRAPER! I'm happy for you guys. Big project but it will be worth every dime, nickel and busted knuckle you put into it. Steve
Ah, too bad but probably a blessing. I'll be up in your neck of the woods some time this month. Maybe I can help wire up the elevator or just say hello.
Wow!!! That is a cool old building. You have a lot of work ahead of you but I think it will be an awesome place once completed. I look forward to seeing the progress and projects to come, good luck brother 😎👍🇺🇸🔥
It's a ton of work, but the best part is, with an initial buy-in that low, there's a lot of room for sweat equity to improve it. The best part is, you won't be fighting a leaky roof, and that is HUGE
Those floors would make beautiful studio apartments for you and your family and your business on the first 2 floors. I would love to live on that top floor and have keyed elevator floors so that you can only go to a certain floor with a certain key. I could make that look beautiful for living and make it work with emergency stairs to . Keep up the great work and God Bless you and your family.
Well of course G! Who doesn't love yoga pants? I have mine on right now. 😁 Those other ares would be awesome for a local museum or some kind of memorabilia space. Or maybe rent the spaces out for other work shop space. So friggin cool!
what a ripper, best thing would be to clear out the junk then start one room at a time. I can see many uses for all that pallet wood. You've defiantly taken on a challenge and a half tho. Looking forward to following along
@@HardCoreFab One thing we have done in our elevator on those type of windows, is buy sheets of the thicker plexiglass from McMaster-Carr and cut them to fit and use silicone to glue them in place. We get the almost 1/4" thick stuff.
The wood can be used for shelving, or fire wood, gee lot's more room, but you got a lot of wiring to do, but very useful if you get the lift you could rent some out, all the best to you and your loved ones
Big project, but such a cool building! Just take it one step at a time. Maybe start with securing it up, but still, lots of places where you just have to do step 1 before 32, 45, 99…
OMG that looks like a lot of work. That would eat into my RUclips watching time. But then that is your problem. Even if I was young enough to tackle it I am way too lazy - a problem I've had all my life.
This is going to be a huge project. Looking forward watching it evolve. Just a thought. Maybe hook up with an investor to possibly develop the upper floors into condo's to fund the shop on the lower floors. First look around I see moisture issues, mold, lead paint and possible asbestos issues to deal with. I hope the city is willing to work with you. This could be a really cool renovation. You have enough pallet wood to make the walls look cool. I guess Home Depot and Lowes will be new sponsors. Lol.
Cool old building. Number one job. Get roof sorted before winter. Get it dryed in. One way or another. Get the pigeons out and vermin. Summers on your side. You got help exchange and work away for clean up. You can frame up clear plastic to seal up windows. You got plenty wood. Watch Jrgo had the biggest building on utube but think somebody else beat him. But definitely think it's you now. Lol. Convert the flour bins into living quarters for your self. Storage is good business to be in. But great place. Just got to heat it in the winter. Make a extending arm out the window and elctric winch get pallets down. But number one job. Clear drains. Check and dry in roof before winter. Good luck man. Plenty winter fire wood. Get your self a live in security guard.
You could make alot of money off of that building. There's people that buy that palette wood. Congratulations on getting that building. That's a diamond in the rough. First thing to do is get windows, electric, and the elevator fixed. Good luck and God Bless you and your family.
Congratulations that's a awesome building with a lot of cool history if you want I may be able to get up with some one that may buy those pallets from you he has a company that recycles them
First things first...a Bengal tiger pit to catch vandals and thieves. If those pallets had caught fire the building would not have survived. Concrete doesn't like fire...good luck with the new project.
That looks like the building off of Ave A and Lorraine in Hutchinson, Kansas. I'm almost convinced that is the very same building you've shown in this video. Edit: That IS the very same building in Hutchinson I mentioned! I just confirmed it by comparing it to Google maps street view. I can't believe how dirt cheap that was sold for!
Cool place .Looks like you could live on the upper floors.A little paint here and there and move in. If you run out of room there you just got to much shit. Its going to be fun.
An awesome structure! I LOVE that you are repurposing/regenerating, rather than building new. Good on ya, brother!!! I agree, some of that graffiti is actually quite impressive! Are you going to put in an elevator that can hold heavier payload and employ more than one floor for your projects?
With the prices of building materials, I wonder what you could get for that wood. All depends what people could do with it. Maybe get the purchase price of the property back just from the wood LOL Read up on the TreatCo pet chews building that caught fire on the north side of Wichita. It was sometime in the last ten years. Burned so hot in there that it went through the concrete floor. Crazy crazy deal!
Unfortunately the wood didn't come with the building. It's just stuck there until the elevator is working again. The pics of that building look like it was built very similar to mine. That's crazy how it felled
@@HardCoreFab reason I ask is because I I noticed some filing cabinets in a table that could be reused. I don't know if the three forklifts could be made operational again but it would probably be neat to save at least one of them. I'm curious what your plans are for the missing and broken windows. Do you plan to simply replace the missing panes with glass that was similar to the original glass or put in something that is more efficient and possibly more resilient to vandals?
That's a good question.. At the moment I believe what we are going to do is replace it with glass and/or plexiglass pains back in the original frames. I don't foresee us having the space up above with any kind of air conditioning or heat so I think that would be fine. As far as vandals once we have lights and cameras up I think that will take care of most of that
I’ve always thought that was a cool building. Time to call your buddies and Nisly Brothers and have them drop a few dumpsters. Elevator can probably lift a vehicle. Rent the upper floors as garage or storage space.
If I was your age I'd love the challenge - good luck.
Thank you!
I drive by that building every day. I’m glad it’s going to be saved and turned into something useful.
