Mine was also listed as 9-12v But it works fine at 5v also, Yours might be a different one but what you can do to make it work is that you can buy a step up converter like the xl6009 to step up 5v to 9v and make the audio decoder work. i' m going to assemblate an hifi portable sound system with that bt usb module as source. It will be rated 15w rms per channel at 4 ohm. It will also use audiophile quality speakers. What about the quality of the bt usb module you have used?
I would say if you want to build something that looks good and clean dont use this bluetooth module you can use a bk8000l bluetooth module which is very small and will suit your needs and has variety of functions :)
Can I ask how you are powering the Bluetooth unit with a phone Charger. The Bluetooth requires 12volts and most adapters put out 5 volts which you are powering the amp with.
You can find one of these on eBay.com, and this module has a 5v input and a audio input,solder the 5v input to the pam8403's 5v input and the audio input also gets soldered to the audio input of pam8403.

Thats exactly the problem, Its a 3w amplifier if you want to use 0.5w speaker then you need to attach a crossover which in my case is a capcitor
