  • How do you check in and out of counties on a yacht?
What do you need to know and where do you find the information?
Before we left Australia for the first time, the logistics of leaving and entering another country by boat puzzled the heck out of me, and I spent a LOT of time investigating the process. Here is our guide to how to do it, using the example of going from Australia to New Zealand. We've added additional tips on what to do based on the many other countries we have sailed to and from.

Hello thank you so much for the information! Very insightful as we are about to leave AU with our sailboat for the first time. Would you be able to forward the page to the export declaration form? :)

Hi Josephine. I’m at sea at the moment in our way to Tonga. But if you go to our website LUKIMYU.com.au and read the Leaving Australia for New Zealand blog there’s a hyperlink to the form. Hope that helps. Thanks for the feedback.

You missed a whole lot of requirements....
Make sure the boat has a built-in wine cellar, complete with temperature control and a sommelier on board.
Pack enough corkscrews to last the entire voyage, just in case some get lost overboard.
Research the local cuisine of your destination country and stock up on appropriate spices and ingredients to cook up a storm on board.
Bring along a portable pizza oven for those nights when you're craving a slice of home.
Hire a gourmet chef to accompany you on the voyage, so you can enjoy restaurant-quality meals every day.
Don't forget to pack your favorite bottle of hot sauce to spice up any bland meals you might encounter.
Invest in a fishing rod and try to catch your own fresh seafood for a true foodie experience.
Make sure the boat has a reliable GPS system so you can always find your way to the nearest winery or vineyard.
Bring along a collection of international cookbooks for inspiration and to learn about new cuisines along the way.
Plan your route to include stops at the best food and wine festivals in your destination country.
