Immortal Songs 2 invites six idol singers to perform their own re-imagined versions of well-know songs, based on the theme of the episode. It's not a typical competition show; the winner just gets bragging rights. Sohyang is particularly skilled at re-arranging songs and has been invited to perform on this show at least 10 times over the past 10 years. Trust and believe, you have witnessed a small sample of the flexibility in her voice. The PHENOMENAL So Hyang was 37 years old in 2015, at the time of this event. She is now 45 years old, and not only is she aging backward, she sounds better than ever before. Her vocal range is RIDICULOUS, and her breath control is INSANE. I can't accurately comment on the range of the songwriter, Paul Simon, or his singing partner, Art Garfunkel. It didn't matter to me. Their voices were perfect for their genre of music; folk music. The musical arrangement, lyrics, and the singer's interpretation, are what make for a great song.
I wouldn't say that Simon and Garfunkel had no range. Art Garfunkel has very high range for a man, and Paul Simon had a better than average range for a male singer. Neither had an overpowering voice like So hyang's and as far as overall range with this kind of power Morissette of the Philippines has a measured range of 5 full octaves plus 4 additional notes. I love So hyang a lot so do not get it twisted that I am throwing shade at So hyang at all. I think she can take her full belt voice higher than Morissette, but Morissette has those whistle tones that she can control and can produce them in the key of the song she is singing. But to compare either of the two to Dimash I think is a losing proposition. That is my personal opinion and your opinion is as valid as mine. I think So hyang and Morissette reign over the female singers as the two best female vocalists. For me Morissette has a slight edge. But to show how the heart and ear can be won neither of these two is my favorite vocalist that spot belongs to Daneliya Tuleshova from Kazakhstan she a quality in her singing that is addicting. She has neither the range or or the vocal agility of the other two, but she can take a song and sing it straight into your heart. She is the best pure natural singing voice since Karen Carpenter. Well that's my two cents and it has as much value, but it is mine and I make no apologies for it.

I have an advantage in that I was there when this song came out. I was just out of high school and the last of the Simon and Garfunkel albums came out. The one with The Boxer and many other great songs. Oh, 'Me And Julio Down By The School Yard' was another. By then though Garfunkel had had enough of Simon and vice versa. Garfunkel found it tough going without the prolific Simon writing all those songs. Simon well he went and wrote and performed 'Graceland' and then it was World music. Sorry I have suffered my whole life with terminal ADHD and often shoot off into a direction I had no intention of going. I'll leave it there and Have great rest of the day wherever you may be.

I will agree with you to a certain point. I love SoHyang but there is another female singer from South Korea that is very versatile and has an incredible voice. On some songs in certain genres I think Park Ki Young has the upper edge over SoHyang. Overall I do give the nod the SoHyang but Park Ki Young is a very close 2nd.

The reason they compare So Hyang to Dimash is because most of her fans and even many reactors and voice coaches say that she is the best female singer today. That's where the King and Queen reference comes from. Although with emotional connection with listeners I have to give So Hyang a huge edge because I don't really feel alot of emotion listening to Dimash but with So Hyang, I get chills and tears. Don't get me wrong,I love Dimash also and in my opinion he is probably one of the top singers out there. Also So Hyang is 45 or 46 years old so she had 15 to 20 more years of more practice and learning the art of connecting with people.

So hyang has a voice that draws you in and then lifts you to the heights. I feel any comparison to Dimash is a fool's errand. Dimash can do things with his voice that defy the rules of physics and anatomy to do what he does. He is a stand alone anomaly. He can do what other singers do well and in most cases better than what they can do in their own range. But sometimes I do not get the hit of emotion from Dimash that Sohyang delivers. There is no doubt that Sohyang has a Christian bent to her music. She always has a small section that has a Gospel music ring to it. But when your life story is so unbelievably tied to God's blessings it is no wonder she would honor Him with everything she does. I do not know if you guys know anything about her history, but she had a battle with, I think, uterine cancer in her very early career. Though she has lost her ability to have children, she has become one of the most beloved of Korean singers. I know that during these shows she was hit with pneumonia. She left her hospital bed against the advice of Doctors and performed and nobody knew until way after the fact. She sang slayed and the went straight back to hospital for the next week. During these shows and after she had another 7 trips to hospital. Sohyang trusted God's voice that urged her to keep singing. As you continue following So's musical journey she will keep taking you to higher and higher.
Just a few comments regarding your utter inability to comprehend what you just watched. First, there is NO requirement to attempt to imitate an original version of any song. Sohyang is in complete command of the musical arrangements and staging of all of her TV performances and they are brilliant. Second, comparisons are nearly always an insult to a performer because everyone is unique. Third, you were just privileged to watch a dynamic stage performance by the finest Coloratura Soprano on the planet. If you found anything annoying or confusing about this performance, avoid any more reactions to Sohyang's performances. Some will be even more frustrating to you than this one. Sohyang doesn't deserve your nit-picking because you possess zero ability to understand musical genius at her level. Also, you might want to keep your day job. Just sayin'.
What an interesting commentary on not liking the song that much. There are plenty whose preference exclude gospel style singing but I don't recall too many times the reactor remarked on this classic. Perhaps this is a refracted comment about not getting into the performance but recognizing the vocal excellence. In any case, glad you both met Sohyang, my favorite vocalist.
Calling So Hyang as the female version of Dimash is really disrespecting her. She is a true world class artist with an amazing vocals while Dimash is just a vocal acrobat.
Also he was in diapers when she was already crafting her vocal skills. Her knowledge and experience in perfecting her vocal prowess with 27 years of experience can't be learned that quickly. I will say he is definitely a top 5 best male voices out there. His fans will not admit to his underwhelming performances that's posted on youtube. They will deny or not talk negatively about it. Not saying he is a bad singer but he is definitely not perfect in all his singing.
You Audio quality is bad. Clip sounded echoy and I can't even hear you unless I crank my sound settings way up. This isn't a talent show, it's basically a celebrity singing contest where each artist has to fully rearrange the song. If you expect the song to remain true to the original you will be disappointed.
Please don't take whoever it was advice on the second song as much as I love Sohyang it is not her best and too over complicated if it is the best performance ever by a female you are looking for the I urge you to watch Everyone if you don't want to do it as a reaction then watch it on your own and if you don't agree with me feel free to call me a stupid Scottish tw#t ,but I promise you won't be sorry,this song was like a vocal warm up for Everyone.

The audio I can solve but I'm stumped for ideas on how to get the little boxed man bigger. I'll keep working on both of those problems.
