Can you try the other deleter inks? There are different types like: waterproof with matte finish, waterproof and extra dark, erasing safe, fast drying, and glossy.
Sebastian Michaelis kind of late, i know, but, the waterproo and extra dark, is the one i own, it is kind of matte, and it is indeed waterproof after a few hours, the only problem is that it dries quickly, and the white ink that is waterproof, is very thick and needs to be mixed with a tiny bit of water to use it, and i would recommend a brush for the white and to the actual g pen or marupen

I didnt ever let the ink spread around the "bubble" but rather repeatedly kept dipping and man it was such a nuisance lol but now I know that was completely wrong haha also the tip is super sharp. There were times where I drew very hard into the paper (probably from frustration of not knowing how to use it) and my pen worked as an exacto knife as well 😂
Yes, I always do that. It doesn't make the lines thinner, but it prevents a blob of from getting on your page when you first touch the pen to the paper.

I just recently started trying digital. I've done one drawing in Photoshop and two in Paint Tool Sai. Paint Tool Sai is definitely easier to use. But I wish it had more of the functions Photoshop has. But Sai is just so convenient for line art and blending.
I don't know how it is in your country but in german we even have two different names for the ink types, one is waterproof and one is not. I found the translations: Ink ("Tinte" - not waterproof) - Indian/China/India Ink ("Tusche" - waterproof). It's also known that you should not let the "Indian Ink" dry on the pen, cause you couldn't wash it off ^^
I just tested it out to see what happens. I noticed that after I dip my pen, I wipe the back of the nib on the lip of the ink bottle. That gets off any excess ink. Then I used it with my ruler a few times, and yes, it got some ink along the side, but only a bit. Definitely not enough to drip. Maybe try getting rid of the excess ink like that and see if that helps. The other option is to use other ink for straight lines. Like if I was ever going to ink panel lines, I would use a multiliner.
No, I've never tried making a manga, although I've had the basis of a story in my head for about 8 years. I don't know if I'll ever have time to make something out of it though. I use my Copic multiliners more than the Microns because most of the time, if I'm inking a drawing, it's because I'm going to be colouring it with Copics. My Copics smear sometimes with the Microns. so I only use the Microns if I'm using pencil crayons or leaving the drawing uncoloured.
They are hard to control initially, and one wrong move can result in a huge smear of ink! I haven't been using them much lately, but I really want to start using them more since I find they make the line art really pop. Happy birthday!

It's a Tachikawa pen. I think the pen with two rings is a good idea since it saves money, but it's more work to switch the nibs. I guess it's really up to you and what you think is more worth it.

That's just how the pen is. It takes a bit of getting used to. As for drawing a circle in one stroke, I don't thing you can unless you spin the pen as you go (which would take some skill) since as you probably figured, you can only make the ink flow from one side of the nib.
Higgins ink is waterproof and dries completely in about 2 minutes. I use Higgins with all my drawings if I don't use a regular felt-tipped pen. I love it and it's super cheap. My bottle of 30 mL cost like $3-$4, I can't remember and that was at Hobby Lobby in the States.
A plain black rollerball pen will work also if you only have computer paper available. I used to use it on my drawings that I did on "typing paper", which is rediculously thin and never had a single problem. The ink is very resistant to light as well since some of my drawing are almost 30 years old and show no signs of fading. ...the paper has yellowed but the cheap grocery store markers have held their own for nearly 3 decades. If you do use the rollerball...like a Uniball, you just need to let it dry for a day for best results. Those I use while on the road and they work fantastic and if you need more, they're usually at your nearest store.
For cleaning, I use a paper towel to pull the nib out of the holder, which also soaks up most of the ink off of it. Then dip the nib in water and rub with the paper towel a couple times to get all the ink off and dry it. Then you can put it right back in the holder since that never gets wet, and you don't have to get out of your comfy chair either.

I'm late to the show as usual but here is a tip I learned when doing pen and ink on ceramics - store the nib in a bit of window cleaner. Mine has been in the cleaner for a couple years now and is still in good shape. The cleaner also gets the nib squeaky clean without any effort on my part whatsoever
Well the only thing you can do is use a beveled ruler, but it sounds like you've tried that. With a beveled ruler, one side doesn't touch the paper, so it's impossible to smear the ink unless you swipe the whole ruler across the ink. So I don't know how to help you if you can''t do that.
I've only seen one store have them, and it was a small locally owned store. They didn't have a ton of selection though. The internet is your best bet for price and selection.
I did not. I honestly don't know how the whole customs thing works because sometimes I have to pay it and sometimes I don't, even when I'm ordering from the same website. Maybe it has to do with the amount of your purchase? But when I ordered from JetPens, I did not have to pay it.
I use my zebra g-pen on watercolour paper but also on printing paper and never had any problems with those :) i've never tried any of the inks you use because indian ink is kind of the standard one every art shop here has. indian ink is waterproof and cheaper but still now i can stop wondering about the inks you showed because i had absolutely no experience with them and couldn't find anything about them. so many thanx! ^-^

My maru nibs came in a pack of 2 and my Nikko g-pen nibs came in a pack of 3. But the Tachikawa ones did come in a pack of 10. You will need more than one. What if you lose the only one you have? Also they wear out over time, so the ink will stop flowing as smoothly, which is when you would need to switch them out. One nib should last you quite a while though.

Pledge or wood polish actually works really well for me for removing rust, and its usually safe on the metal, I mean ive never had a problem with it before, but it does work most of the time
You will probably be shaky at first, but it just takes some practice. Try to avoid making slow lines because they will look shaky. Either do fast, long strokes, or a bunch of overlapping smaller strokes that together look like one line. Work from one side of the page to the other to avoid smudging the ink. Make sure it's dry before erasing, and make sure it's REALLY dry before colouring.
Tachikawa is just a brand name. G-pens and maru pens are types of pens. I explained it all in the video. You can get one or both types. It's up to you.
I don't know if this will work for dip pens, but you might want to get some brass sheet and floss between the tines.They are sold at Goulet Pens (and probably other places.)
Don't burn the oil off, use acetone or soap and water! Also Nikko and Tachikawa are made by the same company but Nikko is made for a bit more flex. I find my flexible nibs last a month or two with moderate use, probably two weeks if I were drawing a 4 panel comic weekly, and like a week or less if I was doing full page comics in Tabloid or B5 format manuscripts.

How did you get ink all the way up there? Haha. Did you rinse it out under running water while the ink was still wet? In the future you should only dip the metal part of the nib into the ink.

One thing I'd add regarding inks-- look for"waterproof" or "India Ink" they're traditionally a waterproof and pretty safe for washing over with watercolor or water-based markers. Such inks will say "not for use in fountain pens" on the box, since they don't wash out with water. They also usually have thicker consistency. Since many have shellac and alcohol base, they may still bleed with alcohol-based markers, so you'll have to test.
I'm currently on a quest to find nibs that can make lines in all directions (not just down), and am semi-successful. Tama is okay with that, now need to get G and Maru. Having tools that can only produce lines in one direction is super limiting if you want to actually enjoy drawing.
Just in case you're interested -- the silver bit is actually the pen, and the black bit is the pen-holder. The 'nib' is the little bump right at the end of the pen, where it touches the paper. Of course, everyone knows what you mean by 'pen nib' and 'pen'
The ink is affected differently on different paper types, too. I have the Pilot one, and while it isn't copic proof on my Canson Universal drawing paper, it is copic proof on a canson bristol and a brand of manga paper that I have. :)
If you want waterproof ink, be sure that the bottle specifically says waterproof. If it doesn't say that, then it is going to smear with watercolors. The reason that kaimei and deleter didn't smear with copics is because they aren't alcohol soluable at the level that copic uses. If you drip some rubbing alcohol on the paper, they will likely bleed like crazy. Pilot is just soluable with water and alcohol. (according to my research... I could be wrong on that)
I thought I had looked up enough, but sadly I didn't. Thus, my ink painting days ended in frustration. I still use inks for filling in darks in art, but not as the main medium...
Almost every bottle says waterproof. Very few actually are. So it's not as simple as reading the label. I've had to experiment with a lot of ink. I've often wondered if people have the same definition of waterproof as I do.

Hmm I don't know enough about them to know what that could be. I've never tried Deleter. The nibs I own have never rusted yet, and I've had some of them for 2-3 years. Sorry I'm not much help D:
If you want excellent waterproof ink, use Dr. PH Martin's Black Star ink. They have a "matte" and "hi-carb" version. The matte is perfect jet black and reproduces/scans without fear of glare/reflections, even for large areas. The hi-carb is slightly glossier and is a little less viscous than the matte version. It's also used with acetate/Duralar anime fan-cels. The "Bombay" line of inks are good colored inks too. I haven't used any of these with Copics, but I do with watercolor all the time.
Most Bristol Boards such as Canson and Strathmore will take ink readily. It isn't overly cheap though. Just something smooth and relatively heavy weight will carry the ink well.
Copic Multiliners aren't the only pens that fade when erased, Microns do too! I find it annoying, and to prevent it, I erase before inking. And since you can never fully erase things, it's still easy to see! That's just my fade prevention technique, and it works!
If you can, try and get hold of the Zebra brand G pen. Their awesome! They are 'softer' then the nikko and the tachikawas which feel a bit too rigid. Its got a good amount of flex without losing its robustness. Pelikan Drawing Ink A is matches up wonderfully with these dip pens and its also waterproof. Added bonus is its fast drying time.
No, because I don't have most of them anymore. I've pretty much been drawing my whole life. And ever since I moved, half of my art stuff is at the place I'm renting, and half of it got left behind at my mom's house.
the fade from eraser test might have worked better if you tried it on a line that was made with a brush which leaves a much thinner layer of ink than a nib. plus make sure there is pencil under the line. great vid tho, been wanting to try out them g nibs for a long time now.

99% Isopropyl alcohol, or nib cleaner will take it off easy enough. But you shouldn't let the nibs stay messy anyway though.

Depends on your style, but most people go thicker where shadows might be and where two lines intersect.

Multiliners are like super fine tipped felt pens that hold ink inside them. G-pens have a metal tip and don't hold ink inside.

For cleaning, I use a paper towel to pull the nib out of the holder, which also soaks up most of the ink off of it. Then dip the nib in water and rub with the paper towel a couple times to get all the ink off and dry it. Then you can put it right back in the holder since that never gets wet, and you don't have to get out of your comfy chair either.

For shaky hands, try making your strokes faster. Also, what I do is I go back over my lines to smooth things out.

I thought I had looked up enough, but sadly I didn't. Thus, my ink painting days ended in frustration. I still use inks for filling in darks in art, but not as the main medium...
Almost every bottle says waterproof. Very few actually are. So it's not as simple as reading the label. I've had to experiment with a lot of ink. I've often wondered if people have the same definition of waterproof as I do.

Hmm I don't know enough about them to know what that could be. I've never tried Deleter. The nibs I own have never rusted yet, and I've had some of them for 2-3 years. Sorry I'm not much help D:
Yes, you can run just about any type of ink through these types of pens. I actually use a mix of chinese ink with some other types of inks.
If you want excellent waterproof ink, use Dr. PH Martin's Black Star ink. They have a "matte" and "hi-carb" version. The matte is perfect jet black and reproduces/scans without fear of glare/reflections, even for large areas. The hi-carb is slightly glossier and is a little less viscous than the matte version. It's also used with acetate/Duralar anime fan-cels. The "Bombay" line of inks are good colored inks too. I haven't used any of these with Copics, but I do with watercolor all the time.
Most Bristol Boards such as Canson and Strathmore will take ink readily. It isn't overly cheap though. Just something smooth and relatively heavy weight will carry the ink well.
Copic Multiliners aren't the only pens that fade when erased, Microns do too! I find it annoying, and to prevent it, I erase before inking. And since you can never fully erase things, it's still easy to see! That's just my fade prevention technique, and it works!
If you can, try and get hold of the Zebra brand G pen. Their awesome! They are 'softer' then the nikko and the tachikawas which feel a bit too rigid. Its got a good amount of flex without losing its robustness. Pelikan Drawing Ink A is matches up wonderfully with these dip pens and its also waterproof. Added bonus is its fast drying time.

No, because I don't have most of them anymore. I've pretty much been drawing my whole life. And ever since I moved, half of my art stuff is at the place I'm renting, and half of it got left behind at my mom's house.

the fade from eraser test might have worked better if you tried it on a line that was made with a brush which leaves a much thinner layer of ink than a nib. plus make sure there is pencil under the line. great vid tho, been wanting to try out them g nibs for a long time now.
