I am chuckling because I grew up in Texas (AKA the buckle in the Bible Belt) and moved to Carmel, Indiana. Somehow we became the exact opposites--I migrated north and you migrated south. I am a square peg in a very round hole here. I worked hard to drop the accent just so that people stopped reacting to me like I have a third eye. I have had to explain the flexibility of the colloquial language that is ingrained in my DNA--bless its heart-- and my seeming uncontrollable habit if waving at strangers just for passing by. Jacob you fit in the south like butter loves a biscuit. You have a natural ease of speech and a childlike love of kitsch. Watching you feels like I have regained a little piece of home. Thank you for sharing a piece of your life with us. Bless your heart. ❤️
Tennessee here. Your videos are great. I’m a veteran with disabilities and your videos relax me and are extremely entertaining. It is therapy plain and simple. Keep it up.
i really think that youtube is such a great forum to meet new incredible people, i like meeting people that are not super models or spokespeople. just normal average folks documenting some of the most amazing things that other people would never get to see. thanks for not being a super model...i really appreciate that.
You Rock, Carpetbagger!! Love Love your videos! The first time I watched one, I was hooked! You are very genuine and very intelligent!! Never stop exploring!!! Love and peace to you and yours, always and everyday!! Kc and Aj from NC!
5 years later... You are awesome 😎!! You and your family are beautiful ❤️!! Thank you for helping this poor worn out old nurse feel like there still is life outside of the unpleasantness of 2020-2021 so far! My family and I love your videos!!! Keep up the good work!!
I watch Jordan, Adam and many others including you. Yours is the first vlog I watch in the morning most every day. Truly like your honest delivery and your sense of humor.
Cool. This video is already five years old, I didn't know they went quite back that far. Just started watching a few months ago. Love all your videos and hope to watch most of them. ☺🌼🙋
I'm a native Californian, but my mom's from Georgia, and my late father was from Indiana. I can't travel, but watching your videos, I'm learning about *my own* background. Thanks so much for every place you've taken me so far! As long as you're making videos, I will...follow you.
Man that is awesome that your son made the intro music. I haven't seen this video yet, it was cool to learn about you. Thanks for opening yourself up like that bro.
Kat Willhite Adam is a hoot to meet. I got a 2002 Suzuki, I should have introduced it in this new video :) My Mold-A-Rama collection has grown a great deal, I have most of them out there, except for some of the Zoo ones.
I found some Mold-A-Rama molds from the L.A zoo, from back in the days. I remember getting these as a kid and was really excited to find them. I have a small collection now. I was in San Antonio for 5 years from 07-12, the Zoo there still had the machines then, I know you are in San Antonio, maybe you should check and see if they have them. Loved those machines!
Just seeing this video after almost a year being a subscriber.Great insight into you.answered some questions that I had.Thank you for this and all of your videos. Please keep up the great work. You,Adam and Justin all such positive influences.
You're doing an awesome job, man. I love your videos and will continue to watch them as long as you continue to put them out. Thanks for taking the time to share a bit about yourself.
Very interesting. Loved hearing how you started out. It's important to me to see people that have a passion for the south as well as history of the long lost places. I explored abandoned places back before it was cool or videos were around :) I no longer can however. Your videos are such a blessing to me and very much like my window to the south. Thank you for what you do and I hope that you keep exploring and sharing!
We love your videos! This weekend we had a "Carpetbagger Marathon" and watched your videos for hours! You have certainly reignited our adventurous spirit and our love for unusual Roadside Attractions. Be safe and thank you so much for highlighting your travels for us!
In other words, what you are saying is that you are a REAL person. Great video, Carpetbagger! My son was involved in the Magic tournaments too. I would guess you two would be about the same age. Your daughter seems to enjoy going on your adventures with you. She's very cute and sweet. Keep posting :)
I have no idea how I got here but thank god I did. this channel is amazing, your amazing, and all the places you got to are amazing. keep doing what your doing because we all love it.
You have come a long way Jacob!! Happy that now you are doing this full time and living your dream!! A lot has happened to you over the years!! Hope you get your car back soon!! This vlog appeared on my feed, I might have watched it years ago!! Thanks!
Hey there Carpet Bagger. have been watching your videos off and on for a short while and because I like what I see, I finally decided to subscribe. keep the videos coming and God Bless.
I think you do a great job! I like your voice and I especially like narration of the surroundings and history of the location. Some who explore only shoot the video and I usually don't finish them. So keep up the great work! Thanks!
I've been watching you for a year now and I'm just watching this one. I live in NC and I actually had my honeymoon at Natural Bridge Va. Such a beautiful place. So sad to see how they closed the wax museum and such in recent years. My daughter and I truly enjoy your footage of the amazing road side attractions. They are very American and being Southern its great to see someone not born here enjoying the culture. Thank you for your amazing work.
I'm absolutely more than glad that you ever decided to hop aboard and do RUclips videos, brother. You're a great man and God surely broke the mold when He made you! God bless ya Jacob!
Great hearing your history, I am also from Indiana - the South Bend / Mishawaka area and have recently moved to Florida, so I knew exactly what you were talking about as you walked through that part of your history. I hope to one day feel as comfortable as you in front of the camera. Keep it up!
I just found your videos a couple days ago! I love them! im sooo into all the strange/interesting places u go and I'm so glad u make videos because I wouldnt be able to see this all in person (:
Yes same here,I got my own camera some years ago and started taking pictures of places I been and things I've seen, never really having the intentions to share them on the internet. But I like to show my pictures to someone in person who cares to listen to my story and talk and the good memories. Not really just showing everyone where you been but to share the pictures with those who really care to see and listen to your stories. That's what I think what makes pictures so special.I'm a classic and antique car lover, so my thing is to go to the shows, talk to the people share your stories with them and to see the beautiful cars.
I stumbled across your videos a while back and really love them because you are just being yourself and I find the things on your channel interesting keep up the great job

This video just reinforces why I love watching you and your content. The way you speak and carry yourself makes it so easy to stay interested and entertained. It's fantastic that you get to do what you love and share it with us. Keep it up!
Jacob is very grounded, occasionally funny, and good hearted! He is endlessly curious and revved up about countless things, and it makes us curious and excited about things. He is a font of information, and has shown us that we truly live in an amazing place.
Such an inspirational story. You are the videos. Without you they would not be good. You can make anything interesting. As a southerner I appreciate your work. I found you through Jordan the Lion.
Great to hear your keeping the vlogs coming! Love all the neat places you find to bring us! I have always had a huge interest in the type of places and things you show! This is my #1 channel I am so glad you went with Adam the Woo because that's how I was introduced to you and I have been on board since your first Adam vlog! Great vlog today!
Your channel is hands down my favorite channel on youtube! thank you for making all the wonderful videos! You've got some of the best documentation i've seen of some really great folk art pieces that are just amazing. It's so hard to find sources willing to go out and document that kind of work. it's a noble cause :)
I am very happy you make videos, you are one of a kind. I bumbled onto a 'haters' video, and they don't try to understand that you have a job, love travel and have a passion to share what you find. RUclips is my TV. I will never get to travel and so enjoy all the places you (and Adam) find. What a great country we live in.
I looooove your videos!!!!!!!! My 7 year old son and I just started watching about a week ago. In the videos we have watched so far we have gone so many places with you that I visited as a child . Living in Alaska my son doesn't get to see all of these things. The videos are fun for us to watch together and nostalgic for me since I grew up in the south and traveled frequently to many of these locations on your channel !!!! Good job!!!!! We are hooked! And kudos to you for loving such a fun adventure! Anna is adorable too :)
I think your videos rock!! Many reason, but amount one is the fact that you mind your words and they are not laced with profanity. It makes it easier to share video of a location with the volume up much more enjoyable 😉 thanks for that. Saw a video where your wife was in it and you all stayed at a haunted place in VA. She's very pretty and great on camera. Let her know it was fun watching the two of you interact.bern watching your videos for a while now, and subscribed today( don't know why I haven't before) my hubby has and we often watch a couple just before bed and some times on days off at breakfast. We love what y'all do.thanks!!
Your videos are awesome. I am definitely going to keep on watching. I grew up in the south and now living in Germany. I miss the south and I am also a fan of Roadside America. Keep up the great work!
I believe the authenticity and unhurried attitude are a big factor in your success and have really been enjoying the videos. Glad this came up in my feed to get to know the man behind the cam. I hope you continue to do well with these and share your journeys with us all.
I really like this video! I'm a born and bred Southerner, hehe. You should come to the Cumberland Plateau ...lots of places to see; abandoned places and cool natural sites. When i was really young, my mom would just put us kids in the car and we'd drive along old country roads and inevitably always found something to stop the car and explore. We found old houses, natural tar pits, and grown-over grave yards, and on and on.. When I first met my husband, we did a lot of exploring also, and even explored a huge cave. 7 miles of it have been mapped, but the cave goes on forever, and no one knows truly just how large it really is. Also, I once walked through an ACTIVE train tunnel, built during the Civil War. Some say it's one-half a mile long, others say one-fourth. All I know is we had NO flashlights and there were only four places to run to should a train come along...else the outcome could be really bad. I lived down the road from this train track and knew just how often the trains came through, and I STILL went! When you walk up to the mouth of the tunnel, you see light on the other side. So you think...I can do this. Then you get into where it's really really dark, remember no flashlights, ugh, and the light at the end of the tunnel never seems to get any closer. We walked for AGES and finally made it through. I don't know if we would have if we'd had those flashlights and seen what was actually in there! Needless to say, I was flat out of testing our luck again. So we went back over the tunnel...and that was a whole 'nother adventure, altogether:)
Of Paramount importance to your fans, you appear real. No one cares what you look like. The average person is no oil painting. What we do care about is that you inspire us through your unique view of the world, to enjoy the unusual, maintain a good humor, and pursue our dreams as you pursue yours. Your adventures are alternately fun, interesting and thought provoking, and I daresay, seeing the world from your vantage point is a exciting. Thanks for sharing your artistic view of the world with us all. Cheers of gratitude from an appreciative fan!
WOW 1st video of yours I watched was this one...You are a very humble man....There are not many people I would consider a hero, people throw that term at me a lot...I don't like it but comes with the chosen career path...YOU SIR ARE A HERO... You put feelings and emotions aside and help abused and neglected children...I tip my helmet to you sir...
I am loving your videos-I grew up in an area where the farms were being split up for development, and there were empty farmhouses and barns that we loved to explore! These videos help me enjoy those memories-Thanks!
From one Hoosier to another (I live in Lowell Indiana). I just found your station and I love it. You are who you are and proud of it and I do believe that is your roots coming through. Thanks for sharing your life with us. Very interesting.
I think you & your videos are awesome! You take me to so many places I may never get to see... the ones I HAVE seen only bring up some sweet memories. I am also in the south (GA.) in the beautiful mountains of Blue Ridge. Keep sharing what you got! 😀😆 *THANK YOU!*
I've been watching ur channel for about 2 months and have told friends and we all love ur videos. I live in Illinois so understand about Indiana. I too love the south so please keep up the great videos!
Came across your videos a couple days ago and I am hooked. I keep going back and finding more to watch. Keep doing what you do. I look forward to more.
I think you are doing a marvelous job. I really enjoy watching your videos man. I like the content of the videos in that you give a down to earth sense as if I was actually hanging out with you in the places you go. You are always welcome to visit my neck of the woods.
You're allowed to ramble. It's one of the reasons I enjoy your videos. Loved the tag-team takes on Route 66 with A. t. W. and you! If I ever manage to get a few mobility carts for me & hubby, I have always wanted to do The House on the Rock; You'd be the perfect tour guide. Keep Being Exceptional!
Hello Carpetbagger I just found you through Jordan the Lion and started to watch your vlogs an between Jordan Adam and you now I am enjoying seeing places I’ll never be able to see in person because of my health so I look forward to watching more vlogs Brian from Mentor-on-the-Lake Ohio
your blogs were one of the first ones I ever ran acrossed about a year ago and I wondered what the heck is this and I discovered Adam and Justin and Tim and the rest is history you guys are great keep it up.
Just wanted to say I very much enjoy the few videos of yours I have seen. I am not a big youtube commenter, but when you said you were a social worker I knew I had to give a shout out. Thank you so much for dedicating your life to some of the children who need it most. You do a very tough job with not enough resources and not enough credit. To top it off you are underpaid for the privilege. Thanks for what you do and making fun videos to boot. Hoping you can make some extra money on them to fund your travels!
Been a Woo-vian for a couple months. Discovered you thanks to him, and look forward to continue following you both. You're bringing something real and unique to the world. Keep up the good work.
I first saw you on Adams videos, and am enjoying your current Route 66 collaboration....very good job. Great to get to know you. I have a small channel...still trying to figure out what I want to do with it. You guys are so inspiring..thank you.
I too found you through Adam The Woo. Now there are only TWO Vlogs I watch. Not that there's anything wrong with Adam's other friends - you just stand out to me as the most fun to hang with and there's just so much time in a day. I especially like your website. Keep up the good work.
My son has autism and loves trains. We happened upon your abandoned train videos by accident. Now I'm looking forward to watching the other ones! Great job
We love you here in the South, you have so many friends here,I have introduced many of my friends to your channel, and they love your videos.I wish a major network would look at you and Adem, I think it's classy quality family entertainment. Guess there isn't enough sex and violence in them for today's telivison fare.Love you guys, You lift my spirits, you are a very personable artist, and I think a special person. You have many friends in Tennessee.
Dear Mr Carpetbagger while you left I just got back to Hoosierland, up north east way all I can say is your show is fabulous! But I have fall leaves, and cider I had Florida for 25 years, and even though it is 4 today I have fall and I won't give that up till I'm older but I'm a vetran of the blizzard of 1977!
You are perfect for doing your own videos, your personality as well as your looks are just right together in them, you have what is needed for most people to enjoy, you're very genuine and real, don't sell yourself short, keep doing what your doing!
I think what you are doing is awesome man! I just recently found your show, and I've been hooked on watching these cool places you go to. Keep up the good work.
loved your story. i am bad about forgetting to thumb up or commenting but i hv watched most of your library on utube n love them. i hv just wi last 2 months discovered i like utube and you are one of the first people i sub to and watch. your vids are interesting to me. I loved to goto abandoned places too and think about the past of a location etc. My health doesng allow me to do those things now so i live vicariously thru your vids. keepem up.
Great video, fellow Hoosier! I started in Crown Point not far from you, left at the age of four and have spent all but five years of the rest of my life in Bloomfield and Bloomington. Winters not so bad here as up north but the humidity and heat have been knocking me out. I once met someone from Africa who told me it feels worse here! I really enjoyed your autobiography and comments. I'm not familiar with the card game you mentioned but I'm going to have to look it up as I enjoy cards. Not professionally but for my family I'm something of a social worker and I so much appreciate you and respect you for what you do for others in your job----and in your videos!
Hey so I just found this and have to tell you I find you so much fun to watch!! You are clean, so my kids can view as well. I have 8 and 11 year old girls. I don’t think it ever occurred to me that there is a roadside attraction world. We don’t travel a whole lot and usually to the same places. If I saw any of these places on my own I wouldn’t give them a second glance but after following you I am seeking them out. I think you are wonderful. Watching you and your life now I came back shots of moonshine was the hardest I have laughed watching RUclips. She seemed genuinely unfazed well you appeared to be burning from the inside out. I even made my husband watch that one and he thought it was hysterical as well and he has no interest in RUclips. Best of luck to you as you continue On. I’ll be watching!
You are really making improved videos these days Jacob! Plus, the goodness of your heart shows and attracts people of similar patterns and life choices. Your videos can be very funny too. You have a dry sense of humor and once we figure that out, we begin laughing with you! I cannot express the growth in direction and purpose in your videos these past few months. It has been profound. Maybe the new found confidence you said you are feeling is one of the things that has catapulted your videos into a higher level.
I was born in Indiana, but my father had a job that forced us to move every so many years. We had to move to Colorado where I basically grew up. Then finished High School in Ohio, but the college I chose was in Arkansas. When I was at college I visited Tulsa , OK and was hooked. Yes We may have different stories, but I felt the most comfortable when I moved to the South.
Here's a tip, I personally subscribe to people that seem genuine, and are themselves. I'm sure not everyone would agree, but that's what makes the world go round. I started watching your videos a couple months ago, and I think they are great, and your a genuine guy doing it for the right reasons. Keep up the great work that you do as your dailey job, and the awesome work you do on u-tube!! I am sharing everything I can! Good luck!

Love your balance of humor, seriousness, and ability to talk and hold my interest!
I was disappointed to hear you say you had so much apprehension about being in your own videos. You do such a great job. Rock on man!!!
Thank you!
@@TheCarpetbagger no thank you! :D your cheerful energy is insane. You are like an overflowing fountain of good vibes and happy feels
And How do you feel now Jacob? I think YOU are amazing and I'm not alone! HUGS Stay Safe and positive!
👍👍👍👍👍👍🥳
My husband watches you all the time. Now I'm hooked too. As soon as I hear the banjo I come running to the living room. Never stop!

I love the gap, wish it was mine! I think you look very nice and you seem like a great dad. Thanks for making such a fun channel!
Your videos are awesome. I am definitely going to keep on watching. I grew up in the south and now living in Germany. I miss the south and I am also a fan of Roadside America. Keep up the great work!
Thank you much!
Can't believe I'm just now seeing THIS video! Thanks for the insight into The Carpetbagger!
You are a likeable person. Stay humble. May the Lord bless you Brother.
Oh and I really enjoy Adam the Woo also; he's great!
Hey Carpetbagger....you have a new fan from New England were it's also cold and gray most of the time....thank you for what you do.
Thanks for sharing Jacob I am enjoying your adventures
Thank U Jacob for your history. I like what U do and where u go! Cheers, DREW, The California Picker.

We love you Adam! Keep doing your thing man. Seeing you happy makes me happy.
This is awesome! Thanks for the vids! As a trucker I see A LOT of roadside attractions!
The Maggie Valley video introduced me to the channel. I have loved it since
Thank you for taking me all the places I would have loved to see but will never have the chance to.:)
I've been following for about a week so far. Loving the stuff so far! Keep up the the great work Jacob. :)

I think what you are doing is awesome man! I just recently found your show, and I've been hooked on watching these cool places you go to. Keep up the good work.
Love going to Cataloochee Valley. We go there often. Welcome to "Tha South". The South has a lot to offer. Love your story.
This was a cool video, I like hearing more about your life and family 😊
loved your story. i am bad about forgetting to thumb up or commenting but i hv watched most of your library on utube n love them. i hv just wi last 2 months discovered i like utube and you are one of the first people i sub to and watch. your vids are interesting to me.
I’ll be watching!
i really enjoy your videos and your easy going approach.keep doing it your way.
Good luck!
