    I wish every facility housing big cats and other exotic animals shared your passion. Tossing toys into their enclosures is not enough to keep them active for weeks, months and years. It requires something NEW to keep their minds stimulated, especially the ones living alone. Well done, Big Cat Rescue!

    You guys really are amazing with how you endeavor to make the cats lives as full and enriched as possible in captivity. I hope you're going to make use of the toys that have holes in them to place things inside or put smell in them to give the cats an extra level of fun. Having to work to get something out of a toy would really get their brains working.

    I love to watch them play, although I think "indestructible plastic" may meet it's match. If not utterly destroyed it's going to show serious battle scars. Sigh...at least, unlike my cats, they can't bat their toys under the fridge or furniture ten seconds after getting them and then give you the "okay go dig it out or give me another one" look. But then my cats wouldn't eat people.....I take that back one thinks my toes are "live prey enrichment".

    It seems like a lot of the cats don't have a ton of room and are alone... are they happy? It seems like you guys do a great job at taking care of them, but I wonder if some of the cats are lonely and unhappy with the amount of space they have. It doesn't seem like very much!

    • @bigcatrescue
      @bigcatrescue  8 лет назад +2

      +Shelby Hoving Our enclosures are actually very large. Most of our big cats do live alone because all wild cat species, with the exception to lions, are solitary animals and have territorial issues. Please watch these videos and learn a bit more about our sanctuary.

    Does big cat color vision differ from that of small cats? If their vision is about the same, red toys and green toys are both going to look like dark muddy yellow to them. Blue or bright yellow toys, on the other hand, would be guaranteed to pop out of the background of the leafy floor.

    I'm curious.. What is the general opinion of zoos? In particular the San Diego Zoo.. They have a cheetah program where they bond them with dogs.. do cheetah runs. I mean their intention is to bring awareness to cheetahs but isn't it a double ended sword? It's bringing awareness but is also showing cheetahs walking around on leashes and will put the idea into people's heads that hey they might be a great pet. If you could just comment on zoos in general that would be amazing. I know you won't answer to specific questions about a certain zoo to avoid problems. So, what is the general opinion of zoos? Are they regarded as 'better' if they don't interact with the animals, have as close to natural environments as possible, and also rescue their animals instead of buying them from other zoos or breeders? Thanks!

    • @bigcatrescue
      @bigcatrescue  8 лет назад +2

      +chemha55 We prefer zoos that are AZA accredited because they have higher standard for their animals. Although you are right, handling animals, such as a cheetah, does give people the wrong idea of the dangers of owning a big cat.

    Hi big cat rescue i have 1 question when you put the toys in the cats enclosures or surprises in the cats enclosure how do you go in with out getting attacked?

    • @bigcatrescue
      @bigcatrescue  2 года назад

      Their enclosures have multiple sections. We never go in with a cat. That is dangerous. They are locked into a different section of their enclosure while we put the toys/enrichment in or make needed repairs.
