My 4 year old liked watching this with me, and he says he likes your hat. We did Castle Crag with him when he was 3, and he loves to tell people about it.
I've been visiting the lakes since 1989 on and off (more on than off) . This year will be my ninth summer holiday in a row and I never get tired it: ther are mountains, hills, woodland and forest, and of course beautiful lakes. I sometimes travel a little outside the lake district on days off from strenuous walking and go to the sea. The small town of Silloth is very pleasant if a little olde worlde-there aren't many shops but there is a cobbled main street and a sea front facing the Solway firth with a view of Scotland across the water. A little along the coast is Allonby Bay-largely deserted and peaceful but with stunning views especially of the lakeland mountains in the distance. As I say, the whole area has something for the outdoor minded person.
I live in the lakes district and am never tired of the beauty and majesty of nature and the wonderful experience of living in this place in the world. I will definitely add Castle Crag to my list of places to go walking around in weekends.
Very enjoyable watch and good to see the wind and bit of rain not put you off. I have never bothered with this one before but on a good day, it looks a great day out, cheers Alan
Thanks, Alan. It's a fun little hill for an explore - cracking views on a good day! One of Wainwright's favourites, and worth a potter (assuming it's not too packed).

Hello! That's so good to hear - tell him he has good taste (in hills and hats)! All the best, Neil

And I forgot ( how could I ) the wonderful waterfalls and tarns.
Really nice walk....a little tricky on the slate, but very enjoyable.
