Petit Piton fire

One of the natural iconic wonders in the islands tourism hotspot is on fire literally. Numerous brush fires have been burning out of control on Petit Piton since Monday. The authorities say there is no immediate danger to the near by town of Soufriere and hotels with fire officials advising that the blazes be allowed to burn out natural.
However officials of the National Emergency Management Organization met Thursday to plan and prepare for the worst case scenario at the world heritage site.
